TL;DR: In this paper, the authors introduce the concept of fractals and provide a study and implementation of rapidly growing field of fractal antenna engineering including recent developments, and simulated results for Koch fractal antennas using AWAS and NEC.
Abstract: Wireless applications, particularly with multiple resonances, put new demands on antennas pertaining to size, gain, efficiency, bandwidth, and more. One promising approach in this regard is to use fractal geometries to find the best distribution of currents within a volume to meet a particular design goal. In the miniaturization of wire antennas it has been found that the electromagnetic coupling between wire angles limits the reduction of the resonant frequency with increasing wire length. Recent efforts by several researchers around the world to combine fractal geometry with electromagnetic theory have led to an emergence of new and innovative antenna designs. Unique properties of fractals have been exploited to develop a new class of antenna-element designs that are multi-band and compact in size and have been shown to possess several highly desirable properties, including multi-band performance, low sidelobe levels, and its ability to develop rapid beamforming algorithms based on the recursive nature of fractals. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the concept of the fractals and to provide a study and implementation of rapidly growing field of fractal antenna engineering including recent developments. The simulated results for Koch fractal antenna using AWAS and NEC are also provided.

TL;DR: In this article, a glass of composition 40SiO2−30BaO−20ZnO−10B2O3 was made by conventional melting and casting process.
Abstract: Glass of composition 40SiO2–30BaO–20ZnO–10B2O3 (mol%) was made by conventional melting and casting process. Crystallization kinetics of above glass has been investigated under non-isothermal conditions, using the formal theory of transformations for heterogeneous nucleation. The procedure is applied to the experimental data obtained by differential thermal analysis (DTA), using continuous-heating techniques. The crystallization results are analyzed, and both the activation energy of crystallization process as well as the crystallization mechanism is characterized. Dilatometric measurement of this glass was also done and data obtained was used to calculate the viscosity of the formed glass. Development of crystalline phases on thermal treatments of the glass at various temperatures has been analyzed by X-ray diffraction. Microstructure of the crystalline phases was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the development of various structural features with variation in heat treatment cycle was observed. The nucleation and growth of these phases in the matrix of glass has been described and discussed.

TL;DR: In this paper, a two-dimensional photonic crystal waveguide-based biosensor is designed with a diamond-shaped ring resonator and two waveguides: a bus waveguide and a drop waveguide.
Abstract: A biosensor is a device that is used to detect the analytes or molecules of a sample by means of a binding mechanism. A two-dimensional photonic crystal waveguide-based biosensor is designed with a diamond-shaped ring resonator and two waveguides: a bus waveguide and a drop waveguide. The sensing mechanism is based on change in refractive index of the analytes, leading to a shift in the peak resonant wavelength. This mechanism can be used in the field of biomedical treatment where different body fluids such as blood, tears, saliva, or urine can be used as the analyte in which different components of the fluid can be detected. It can also be used to differentiate between the cell lines of a normal and an unhealthy human being. Average value of quality factor for this device comes out to be 1082.2063. For different analytes used, the device exhibits enhanced sensitivity and, hence, it is useful for the detection of diseases.

01 Jan 2017TL;DR: The situational based Fuzzy model is being expressed to mitigate the destruction in the cost optimization and examining the credibility of optimized value.
Abstract: The main objective of this paper is to do the modeling and optimization of production cost of RCF kapurthala using TFLPP-(s, l, r) and triangular (Right angle) fuzzy linear programming problem. The total costs of the different constrains are vacillating or uncertain, so to minimize the production cost, fuzzy LPP (right angle triangular) and TFPP- (s, l, r) model are used. Owing to probabilistic increments in the availability of different constrains, the actual cost of production is to leading the destruction. Here the situational based Fuzzy model is being expressed to mitigate the destruction in the cost optimization and examining the credibility of optimized value. The data of RCF Kapurthala constitutes the production cost of different coaches from the year 2009–10. The total cost has been targeted to optimize with respect to the constraints of Labor cost, Material cost, Administrative overhead charges, Factory overhead charges, Township overhead charges, Shop overhead charges and Performa charges. The lower and upper bound have been calculated using TFLPP-(s, l, r), TFLPP-(s, l), TFLPP-(s, r) and TFLPP-(s) for the objective function of the optimized fuzzy LPP. This optimized fuzzy LPP will provide the membership grade for the optimized production cost.
