TL;DR: A methodology is proposed for the rapid recording of changes occurring between the original and the contaminated crime scene, based on an automatic 3D feature-based data registration, followed by a cloud-to-cloud distance computation, given as input the 3D point clouds generated before and after e.g. the misplacement of evidence.
Abstract: . Crime scene documentation is a fundamental task which has to be undertaken in a fast, accurate and reliable way, highlighting evidence which can be further used for ensuring justice for victims and for guaranteeing the successful prosecution of perpetrators. The main focus of this paper is on the documentation of a typical crime scene and on the rapid recording of any possible contamination that could have influenced its original appearance. A 3D reconstruction of the environment is first generated by processing panoramas acquired with the low-cost Ricoh Theta 360 camera, and further analysed to highlight potentials and limits of this emerging and consumer-grade technology. Then, a methodology is proposed for the rapid recording of changes occurring between the original and the contaminated crime scene. The approach is based on an automatic 3D feature-based data registration, followed by a cloud-to-cloud distance computation, given as input the 3D point clouds generated before and after e.g. the misplacement of evidence. All the algorithms adopted for panoramas pre-processing, photogrammetric 3D reconstruction, 3D geometry registration and analysis, are presented and currently available in open-source or low-cost software solutions.

TL;DR: In this paper, a ship-based measurements were taken during the Continental Outflow of Pollutants (COPMAR) project towards the MArine tRoposphere.
Abstract: . Trace gas maps retrieved from satellite measurements show enhanced
levels of the atmospheric volatile organic compounds formaldehyde
( HCHO ) and glyoxal ( CHOCHO ) over the Atlantic Ocean. To
validate the spatial distribution of this continental outflow, ship-based
measurements were taken during the Continental Outflow of Pollutants
towards the MArine tRoposphere (COPMAR) project. A Multi-AXis Differential Optical
Absorption Spectrometer (MAX-DOAS) was operated aboard the research vessel
(RV) Maria S. Merian during cruise MSM58/2. This cruise was
conducted in October 2016 from Ponta Delgada (Azores) to Cape Town (South
Africa), crossing between Cabo Verde and the African continent. The
instrument was continuously scanning the horizon, looking towards the African
continent. Enhanced levels of HCHO and CHOCHO were found in the
area of expected outflow during this cruise. The observed spatial gradients
of HCHO and CHOCHO along the cruise track agree with the
spatial distributions from satellite measurements and the Model for OZone and Related chemical Tracers version 4 (MOZART-4) model
simulations. The continental outflow from the African continent is observed
in an elevated layer, higher than 1000 m, and probably originates from
biogenic emissions or biomass burning according to FLEXible PARTicle dispersion model (FLEXPART) emission
sensitivities.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explore the content of the meson in a lattice QCD study using several local two-quark, local tetraquark and two-meson, i.e. molecular, interpolating fields.
Abstract: The authors explore the content of the ${D}_{s0}^{*}(2317)$ meson in a lattice QCD study. Using several local two-quark, local tetraquark, and two-meson, i.e. molecular, interpolating fields, they find that the tetraquark contribution to the ${D}_{s0}^{*}(2317)$ meson is negligible, at least for the pion mass, of about 296 MeV, used in this study.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed an erosion assessment methodology that combines qualitative field surveys with quantitative model estimates, and provided a linkage between qualitative and quantitative soil erosion methods and helps to translate the outcomes of the former into the latter, thus providing a good tool for local erosion assessment.
Abstract: In arid and semi‐arid regions, water erosion is difficult to model because of highly irregular precipitation regimes and changes in vegetation cover. The application of quantitative, process‐based models at the catchment scale is often problematic because of large data requirements. Qualitative methods require less data and can be more easily performed in a relatively short time, but they are more subjective. The objective of this research is to develop an erosion assessment methodology that combines qualitative field surveys with quantitative model estimates. The qualitative World Overview of Conservation Approaches and Technologies (WOCAT) methodology is based on expert observations per mapping unit, while the Pan‐European Soil Erosion Risk Assessment (PESERA) model simulates hill slope soil loss based on land cover, soil texture, meteorological data and slope profile. This study was conducted in the 106·4‐km² Peristerona watershed in Cyprus with a mean local slope higher than 40% in the mountainous upstream area and less than 8% in the plain. Out of 68 units, PESERA and WOCAT results were in agreement in 40 units, while PESERA results were lower in 25 and higher in 3 units. Both methods identified burnt areas and complex cultivation patterns as the most degraded. The total PESERA‐based sediment yield for the watershed was 1·2 Mg ha⁻¹ y⁻¹, which fell within the range of the sediment yield measured at the check‐dam downstream (0·2–2 Mg ha⁻¹ y⁻¹). This study provides a linkage between qualitative and quantitative soil erosion methods and helps to translate the outcomes of the former into the latter, thus providing a good tool for local erosion assessment.
