TL;DR: In this article, quantum chemical calculations were performed on four typical amides compounds e.g. urea, thiourea and thioacetamide using the semi-empirical method MINDO/3 within program package HyperChem 6.03.
Abstract: Quantum chemical calculations were performed on four typical amides compounds e.g. urea, thiourea, thioacetamide and thiosemicarbazide, using the semi-empirical method MINDO/3 within program package HyperChem 6.03. Obvious correlations were found between corrosion inhibition efficiency and some quantum chemical parameters such as highest occupied molecular obital (HOMO), lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy levels, HOMO–LUMO energy gap and electronic density etc. Calculation results indicated that the great difference of inhibition efficiencies between these amides can be clearly explained in terms of frontier molecular orbital theory. The agreement with the experimental data was also found to be satisfactory.

TL;DR: This paper systematically reviews the development and deployment of smart energy meters, including smart electricity meters, smart heat meters, and smart gas meters, to provide insights and guidelines regarding the future development of smart meters.
Abstract: The significant increase in energy consumption and the rapid development of renewable energy, such as solar power and wind power, have brought huge challenges to energy security and the environment, which, in the meantime, stimulate the development of energy networks toward a more intelligent direction. Smart meters are the most fundamental components in the intelligent energy networks (IENs). In addition to measuring energy flows, smart energy meters can exchange the information on energy consumption and the status of energy networks between utility companies and consumers. Furthermore, smart energy meters can also be used to monitor and control home appliances and other devices according to the individual consumer’s instruction. This paper systematically reviews the development and deployment of smart energy meters, including smart electricity meters, smart heat meters, and smart gas meters. By examining various functions and applications of smart energy meters, as well as associated benefits and costs, this paper provides insights and guidelines regarding the future development of smart meters.

TL;DR: A novel local descriptor, named local binary count (LBC), is proposed for rotation invariant texture classification, which can extract the local binary grayscale difference information, and totally abandon the local Binary structural information.
Abstract: In this brief, a novel local descriptor, named local binary count (LBC), is proposed for rotation invariant texture classification. The proposed LBC can extract the local binary grayscale difference information, and totally abandon the local binary structural information. Although the LBC codes do not represent visual microstructure, the statistics of LBC features can represent the local texture effectively. In addition, a completed LBC (CLBC) is also proposed to enhance the performance of texture classification. Experimental results obtained from three databases demonstrate that the proposed CLBC can achieve comparable accurate classification rates with completed local binary pattern.
