TL;DR: A comprehensive survey of mmWave communications for future mobile networks (5G and beyond) is presented, including an overview of the solution for multiple access and backhauling, followed by the analysis of coverage and connectivity.
Abstract: Millimeter wave (mmWave) communications have recently attracted large research interest, since the huge available bandwidth can potentially lead to the rates of multiple gigabit per second per user Though mmWave can be readily used in stationary scenarios, such as indoor hotspots or backhaul, it is challenging to use mmWave in mobile networks, where the transmitting/receiving nodes may be moving, channels may have a complicated structure, and the coordination among multiple nodes is difficult To fully exploit the high potential rates of mmWave in mobile networks, lots of technical problems must be addressed This paper presents a comprehensive survey of mmWave communications for future mobile networks (5G and beyond) We first summarize the recent channel measurement campaigns and modeling results Then, we discuss in detail recent progresses in multiple input multiple output transceiver design for mmWave communications After that, we provide an overview of the solution for multiple access and backhauling, followed by the analysis of coverage and connectivity Finally, the progresses in the standardization and deployment of mmWave for mobile networks are discussed

TL;DR: Observations indicate that insolation, in part, sets the pace of the occurrence of millennial-scale events, including those associated with terminations and ‘unfinished terminations’.
Abstract: Oxygen isotope records from Chinese caves characterize changes in both the Asian monsoon and global climate. Here, using our new speleothem data, we extend the Chinese record to cover the full uranium/thorium dating range, that is, the past 640,000 years. The record’s length and temporal precision allow us to test the idea that insolation changes caused by the Earth’s precession drove the terminations of each of the last seven ice ages as well as the millennia-long intervals of reduced monsoon rainfall associated with each of the terminations. On the basis of our record’s timing, the terminations are separated by four or five precession cycles, supporting the idea that the ‘100,000-year’ ice age cycle is an average of discrete numbers of precession cycles. Furthermore, the suborbital component of monsoon rainfall variability exhibits power in both the precession and obliquity bands, and is nearly in anti-phase with summer boreal insolation. These observations indicate that insolation, in part, sets the pace of the occurrence of millennial-scale events, including those associated with terminations and ‘unfinished terminations’. Records of the Asian monsoon have been extended to 640,000 years ago, and confirm both that the 100,000-year ice age cycle results from integral numbers of precessional cycles and that insolation influences the pacing of major millennial-scale climate events. Prior records of the Asian monsoon have revealed cyclic variations over hundreds of thousands of years, probably driven by variations in insolation caused by the precession of Earth's orbit. Hai Cheng and colleagues now provide a speleothem record from Chinese cave samples that extends earlier records to 640,000 years ago, close to the maximum age possible with uranium/thorium dating. This spectacular record confirms that the characteristic '100,000-year' ice age cycle corresponds to an integral number (four or five) of precession cycles, and that insolation influences millennial-scale variations in monsoon strength.

TL;DR: It is inferred that the primary black hole mass lies within the gap produced by (pulsational) pair-instability supernova processes, with only a 0.32% probability of being below 65 M⊙, which can be considered an intermediate mass black hole (IMBH).
Abstract: On May 21, 2019 at 03:02:29 UTC Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo observed a short duration gravitational-wave signal, GW190521, with a three-detector network signal-to-noise ratio of 14.7, and an estimated false-alarm rate of 1 in 4900 yr using a search sensitive to generic transients. If GW190521 is from a quasicircular binary inspiral, then the detected signal is consistent with the merger of two black holes with masses of 85_{-14}^{+21} M_{⊙} and 66_{-18}^{+17} M_{⊙} (90% credible intervals). We infer that the primary black hole mass lies within the gap produced by (pulsational) pair-instability supernova processes, with only a 0.32% probability of being below 65 M_{⊙}. We calculate the mass of the remnant to be 142_{-16}^{+28} M_{⊙}, which can be considered an intermediate mass black hole (IMBH). The luminosity distance of the source is 5.3_{-2.6}^{+2.4} Gpc, corresponding to a redshift of 0.82_{-0.34}^{+0.28}. The inferred rate of mergers similar to GW190521 is 0.13_{-0.11}^{+0.30} Gpc^{-3} yr^{-1}.

TL;DR: The adaptive immune response has been classically considered to play a major role in the pathogenesis of IBD, as new studies in immunology and genetics have clarified that the innate immune response maintains the same importance in inducing gut inflammation.
Abstract: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, is characterized by chronic relapsing intestinal inflammation It has been a worldwide health-care problem with a continually increasing incidence It is thought that IBD results from an aberrant and continuing immune response to the microbes in the gut, catalyzed by the genetic susceptibility of the individual Although the etiology of IBD remains largely unknown, it involves a complex interaction between the genetic, environmental or microbial factors and the immune responses Of the four components of IBD pathogenesis, most rapid progress has been made in the genetic study of gut inflammation The latest internationally collaborative studies have ascertained 163 susceptibility gene loci for IBD The genes implicated in childhood-onset and adult-onset IBD overlap, suggesting similar genetic predispositions However, the fact that genetic factors account for only a portion of overall disease variance indicates that microbial and environmental factors may interact with genetic elements in the pathogenesis of IBD Meanwhile, the adaptive immune response has been classically considered to play a major role in the pathogenesis of IBD, as new studies in immunology and genetics have clarified that the innate immune response maintains the same importance in inducing gut inflammation Recent progress in understanding IBD pathogenesis sheds lights on relevant disease mechanisms, including the innate and adaptive immunity, and the interactions between genetic factors and microbial and environmental cues In this review, we provide an update on the major advances that have occurred in above areas

TL;DR: In this article, Nitrogen-doped activated carbons (NACs) were prepared through a one-step process, and obtained NACs show high surface areas of up to 2900 m2 g−1 with a moderate N content up to 4 wt.
Abstract: Nitrogen-doped activated carbons (NACs) were prepared through a one-step process. The obtained NACs show high surface areas of up to 2900 m2 g−1 with a moderate N content of up to 4 wt%. Electrochemical evaluation of the NACs shows a high specific capacity of 129 mA h g−1 (185 F g−1) in an organic electrolyte at a current density of 0.4 A g−1, as well as excellent rate capability and cycling stability. The hybrid-type supercapacitor assembled using the NACs and a Si/C electrode exhibits a high material level energy density of 230 W h kg−1 at 1747 W kg−1. The hybrid device achieved 76.3% capacity retention after 8000 cycles tested at 1.6 A g−1.
