TL;DR: A seat back structure in an automobile or the like for protecting a passenger on a rear seat, comprising a main frame board of a front seat back, an upper buffer body secured integrally to the upper part of the mainframe board and projecting towards the rear seat as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A seat back structure in an automobile or the like for protecting a passenger on a rear seat, comprising a main frame board of a front seat back, an upper buffer body secured integrally to the upper part of the main frame board and projecting towards the rear seat, and a lower buffer board secured integrally to the lower part of the main frame board, said lower part having an opening. When, in case of a collision of the automobile or the like, the knees of the passenger violently collides against that part of the rear of the front seat back which corresponds to the lower buffer board, said lower buffer board undergoes a plastic deformation towards the opening, thereby to absorb the impact load of the knees. When the breast and head of the passenger violently collide against that part of the front seat back which corresponds to the upper buffer body, said upper buffer body undergoes a plastic deformation, and subsequently the main frame board undergoes a frontward plastic deformation, thereby to absorb the impact load of the breast and head.

TL;DR: In this article, a manually operable shift assembly with a plurality of fork shafts within a gear case and each fork shaft is axially displaceable between two different gear positions by a gearshift lever which engages a recess within the fork shaft.
Abstract: In a manually operable shift assembly a plurality of fork shafts are arranged within a gear case and each fork shaft is axially displaceable between two different gear positions by a gearshift lever which engages a recess within the fork shaft. One of the fork shafts is axially movable between a forward gear position and a reverse gear position and the fork shaft alongside it is movable between two forward gear positions. To prevent accidental engagement in the reverse gear position when shifting into or out of its associated forward gear position a limiting or restricting action is provided which must be overcome before movement into the reverse gear position can be attained. In one embodiment, the restricting action is provided between a plate mounted on the gearshift lever and a spring biased member arranged within the gear case. In another embodiment the limiting action is provided by spring biased pins located in the recess in the fork shaft. Additionally, the shifting movement can be effected by means of an intermediate rod and lever assembly disposed between the gearshift lever and the fork shaft with the restricting action afforded between the lever on the intermediate rod and a spring biased pin positioned in the gear case at a location spaced from the fork shaft.

TL;DR: In this article, a hybrid electric power vehicle disclosed, a generator driven by a heat engine turns a motor which moves the vehicle, and a main circuit includes a first thyristor or relay contact for connecting the main circuit and the battery in series with each other.
Abstract: In the hybrid electric power vehicle disclosed, a generator driven by a heat engine turns a motor which moves the vehicle. A main circuit controls the motor with power from the generator. The main circuit includes a first thyristor or relay contact for connecting the main circuit and the battery in series with each other or in parallel with each other and a commutation circuit that operates as a chopper. A second thyristor provides the energy from the generator to the motor in the form of pulses. A switch-over circuit opens the relay contact on the basis of the relationship between the degree to which the accelerator pedal is depressed and the motor speed so as to connect the main battery and the generator in series. An output ratio control circuit turns the two thyristors on so that the generator and main battery outputs are supplied to the motor together. The output of the battery is varied by the first thyristor in response to the degree to which the accelerator pedal is depressed.

TL;DR: In this paper, a control system actuates predetermined combinations of hydraulic valves which establish the desired gear ratios in a four-forward one-reverse speed transmission of a vehicle, where a selector selects the desired operating condition, such as drive, reverse, etc., of the transmission.
Abstract: The disclosed control system actuates predetermined combinations of hydraulic valves which establish the desired gear ratios in a four-forward one-reverse speed transmission of a vehicle. In the control system, a selector selects the desired operating condition, such as drive, reverse, etc., of the transmission. A first sensor arrangement senses the speed of the vehicle and produces corresponding speed signals. A second sensor arrangement responds to the selector and produces operating signals corresponding to the selected conditions. A logic system responds to the signals and, on the basis of the speed and selected conditions, produces electrical indications which represent those valves that must be energized to establish the particular gear ratios that are necessary for operating in the selected conditions. Thus, for example, when the drive condition has been selected, the logic system determines which gear ratio is desired for the particular speed and produces indications selecting the particular valves to be actuated. Driver means then actuate the valves to obtain the resulting gear ratio. The logic system also responds to the extent to which the throttle is opened.
