Abstract: A blood purification apparatus includes an extracorporeal circulation system, a blood purifier provided in the system for purifying blood by dialysis or filtration through a semipermeable membrane, a circulation blood volume measuring instrument for measuring changes in a circulating blood volume within a patient's body, a control section comprising a memory for storing a program for a pattern of changes in the circulating blood volume during blood purification, the program being matched to the condition of a patient, and a regulator connected to the extracorporeal circulation system and the control section, for controlling the circulating blood volume, the regulator being controlled by the control section on the basis of the circulating blood volume measured during blood purification and the programmed amount. In this apparatus, optimum blood purification is carried out while maintaining the circulating blood volume at a prescribed level.

Abstract: A shock absorber control system controls vehicle shock absorbers by bringing them selectively into a softer dampening mode or a harder dampening mode in response to operation of a steering wheel of a vehicle. The shock absorbers are changed from the softer to the harder dampening mode only when the vehicle speed is higher than a reference vehicle speed and the steering wheel is turned at an angular velocity greater than a predetermined reference angular velocity. The angular velocity of rotation of the steering wheel is used as a parameter to select one of the softer and harder dampening modes only when the vehicle wheel has been angularly moved beyond a certain reference angle dependent on the vehicle speed. Therefore, no unwanted switching between the softer and harder dampening modes takes place when the steering wheel is angularly moved back and forth through relatively small angles. The harder dampening mode continues for a preset interval of time.

Abstract: According to this invention the driver's will to accelerate and decelerate is detected by a pressing amount of an accelerator pedal, or the like. Speed ratio of a continuously variable speed transmission and air-fuel ratio of air mixture in a combustion chamber of an engine are controlled according to that will. As a result, a WOT (Wide Open Throttle) period in which the vehicle travels with the optimum rate of fuel comsumption becomes longer, and an appropriate responsive property in acceleration and the maximum output horse power of an engine is ensured.

Abstract: A device for preventing reverse gear buzzing in a manual transmission comprising a transmission casing, a forward speeds unit provided with a plurality of synchromesh mechanisms, a reverse unit provided with a selective sliding mesh mechanism of a reverse idler gear and having a reverse shift head, a shift-and-select lever shaft, an inner lever attached to the shift-and-select lever shaft, an interlocking plate loosely mounted to the shift-and-select lever shaft and holding the inner lever at both ends, said interlocking plate serving to hold immovably at the neutral position the remaining shift heads other than one of said shift heads which is selected by the select operation of the inner lever, a locking means fixed to the transmission casing and adapted to hold the interlocking plate in such a manner that the interlocking plate is permitted to axially move together with the lever shaft and to rotate relative to the lever shaft, a stopper formed on the shift head adjacent to the reverse shift head and adapted to be engaged and disengaged from the inner lever and means mounted on the inner lever for abutting against the locking means at the reverse select position of the inner lever in such a manner that after abutting of the abutting means against the locking means the inner lever is permitted to slightly move in the shift and select directions and subsequently move only in the shift direction.

And in a fuel injector, injected fuel collides with injected air to promote atomization of injected fuel. Each fuel injector has a plurality of fuel injection ports directed to the respective divided flow intake air path portions and a plurality of air-fuel injection ports which are provided coaxially with the respective fuel injection ports and through which injected fuel passes after colliding with injected air. As a result the injected fuel is smoothly distributed to the respective divided flow intake air path portions.

Abstract: A power supplying member supplies rotational power in a certain rotational direction to a first member of the transmission, and a power receiving member takes out power from a second member. Several power transmission systems are provided between the first and the second member, which are selectively engagable so as to provide various speed stages between them. Each power transmission system has a clutching mechanism which either can be disconnected so as to freewheel in both rotational directions, or can be connected only in the one rotational direction which is required for transmission of power through that power transmission system, so as to function as a one way clutch. Thus shifting between the speed stages does not require delicate controlling of the clutching mechanisms. At least one of these clutching mechanisms can also be locked up so as to transmit rotational power in both rotational directions, and this enables engine braking to be made available, when the transmission is mounted in an automotive vehicle.

Abstract: A hydraulic valve lift device for internal combustion engines includes a lifter having therein an oil pressure chamber for introduction of oil and slidably disposed in a cylindrical bore of a housing with one end thereof engaged by a cam or a cam shaft, and a plunger slidably disposed in the lifter for opening and closing an intake or exhaust valve of which a valve lift is variable depending upon the rotational speed of the cam by discharging oil from the oil pressure chamber through a throttling port. A braking chamber is defined by a flange portion of the plunger and the cylindrical bore, and is communicated through a slit with a oil feed chamber adapted to allow oil to flow thereinto. A relief valve is provided for communicating with the braking chamber to control its oil pressure below a set value. A control device is provided for controlling the relief valve depending upon an output of a detector such that the set force of the valve corresponds with a desired value.

The oxygen sensor can be manufactured at low cost and has a compact construction.

Abstract: An engine comprising an intake port which has a separating wall projecting downwardly from the upper wall of the intake port. The separating wall defines a helical portion, an inlet passage portion tangentially connected to the helical portion, and a bypass passage interconnecting the inlet passage portion and the helical portion. The separating wall has an upstream end portion centrally located between the opposed side walls of the intake port. A rotary valve is arranged in the bypass passage and is actuated by a vacuum-operated diaphragm apparatus. The rotary valve is opened when the amount of air fed into the cylinder of the engine is increased beyond a predetermined value.

Abstract: An optimum shift timing indicating device for a vehicle includes: a speed sensor for detecting a rotational speed of an engine or a running speed of the vehicle; a load sensor for detecting an engine load; a data processing device having a data map or maps fewer in number than gear positions of the vehicle transmission, said data map or maps having a set shift-up region and/or shift-down region selected in accordance with the rotational speed of the engine or the running speed of the vehicle and the engine load, for emitting a shift-up instruction signal and/or a shift-down instruction signal in accordance with the rotational speed of the engine or the running speed of the vehicle and the engine load; and a shift instructing device for giving a driver a shift-up instruction and/or a shift-down instruction in response to an output from said data processing device; so that instruction about the optimum shift timing can be given to the driver with the use of only a small memory capacity.

At least one auxiliary recess is formed in the main recess and is arranged in the direction of the intake air swirl and in the direction of the fuel injection of a fuel injector for generating a secondary swirl different from the intake air swirl and for generating turbulence between the two swirls. Thus, the introduction of air into the fuel droplets fed from the fuel injector is promoted by the intake air swirl and the secondary swirl so that the combustion efficiency of the internal combustion engine is improved.

Abstract: A door operating device for operating by means of a DC motor the slide door of a slide door unit including an opening formed in the exterior panel of an automobile, the door designed to be arranged flush with the exterior panel when closed, guide rails extended along the upper frame, the lower frame of the opening and the outside surface of the exterior panel, respectively, and guide rollers for guiding the door along the guide rails. A first turnable arm is supported rotatably on the floor of the automobile, a second turnable arm is supported rotatably on the free end of the first turnable arm and a driving wheel is supported rotatably on the free end of the second turnable arm. The output torque of the motor is distributed into a torque for rotating the driving wheel and a torque for rotating the first turnable arm. When the motor is actuated with the door closing the opening of the exterior panel of the body of the automobile, first the door is swayed outside of the exterior panel of the body due to the rotatory motion of the first turnable arm and then the door is driven to slide along the exterior panel of the body by the agency of the frictional engagement of the driving wheel with a guide member secured to the inside surface of the door.

The oxygen ionic conductor is electrically insulated from the microheater through the insulating film. The invention also provides a limiting electric current type oxygen concentration detecting device having the limiting electric current type oxygen sensor and a constant temperature control circuit.

The air passage is designed to be wider at its lower portion and to be narrower towards its upper portion. An air chamber is provided between the upper end of the air passage and the vent hole.

With this construction, it becomes possible for a driver to run his car in accordance with the indications of the shift operation on the indicator so as to enable the economical running of the car to be realized.

The lubrication device includes an oil collector mounted in a casing assembly for the transmission and located above an open end of the axial blind bore in the shaft to receive lubricating oil picked up in the casing assembly, an oil feed pipe extending from the collector into the open end portion of the bore, and a pump impeller assembly mounted in the open end portion of the bore to impel the lubricating oil from the feed pipe toward the closed end of the bore during rotation of the hollow shaft.
