TL;DR: In this article, a polyimide composite material is described, consisting of polyimides containing resin and a layered clay mineral which is intercalated with organic onium ions and dispersed in the poly-imide.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a polyimide composite material which comprises a polyimide-containing resin and a layered clay mineral which is intercalated with organic onium ions and dispersed in the polyimide. Owing to the intercalated clay mineral, the composite material has improved gas and water vapor barrier properties and a small thermal expansion coefficient. Disclosed also herein is a process for producing a polyimide composite material which comprises the steps of intercalating a layered clay mineral with organic onium ions, adding by mixing the intercalated clay mineral to a solution of a monomer or prepolymer for polyimide, removing the solvent, and forming a polyimide. This process makes the layered clay mineral miscible with and dispersible in polyimide.

TL;DR: In this paper, a device for purifying the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine is described, which has a particulate filter arranged in the exhaust system on which the trapped particulates are oxidized, and a reversing mechanism for reversing the exhaust gases upstream side and downstream side of the filter so that the first trapping surface and second trapping surface are used alternately to trap the particulates.
Abstract: A device for purifying the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The device has a particulate filter arranged in the exhaust system on which the trapped particulates are oxidized, and a reversing mechanism for reversing the exhaust gas upstream side and the exhaust gas downstream side of the particulate filter. The particulate filter has a trapping wall. The trapping wall has a first trapping surface and a second trapping surface. The reversing mechanism reverses the exhaust gas upstream side and the exhaust gas downstream side of the particulate filter so that the first trapping surface and the second trapping surface are used alternately to trap the particulates. The device can improve the amount of particulates that can be oxidized and removed on the particulate filter.

TL;DR: In this system, CO2 photoreduction and H2O photooxidation proceeded simultaneously within one system under sunlight irradiation using a hybrid of semiconductors and molecular metal-complex catalysts to create an artificial photosynthesis system.
Abstract: Developing a system for the production of organic chemicals via CO2 reduction is an important area of research that has the potential to address global warming and fossil fuel consumption. In addition, CO2 reduction promotes carbon source recycling. Solar energy is the largest exploitable resource among renewable energy resources, providing more energy to Earth per hour than the total energy consumed by humans in 1 year. This report describes the advantages and disadvantages of the available CO2 reduction and H2O oxidation photocatalysts and the conjugation of photocatalytic CO2 reduction with H2O oxidation for the creation of an artificial photosynthesis system. In this system, CO2 photoreduction and H2O photooxidation proceeded simultaneously within one system under sunlight irradiation using a hybrid of semiconductors and molecular metal-complex catalysts.

TL;DR: This paper deals with several challenging problems of robust filtering for two-dimensional (2-D) systems and new linear matrix inequality (LMI) characterizations for the /spl Hscr//sub /spl infin// and /splHscr/2 norms of 2-D systems are introduced and thoroughly established.
Abstract: This paper deals with several challenging problems of robust filtering for two-dimensional (2-D) systems. First of all, new linear matrix inequality (LMI) characterizations for the /spl Hscr//sub /spl infin// and /spl Hscr/2 norms of 2-D systems are introduced and thoroughly established. Based on these preparatory results, convex (LMI) characterizations for robust /spl Hscr//sub /spl infin//, /spl Hscr//sub 2/, and robust mixed /spl Hscr//sub 2///spl Hscr//sub /spl infin// filtering are derived. The efficiency and viability of the proposed techniques and tools are demonstrated through a set of numerical examples.

TL;DR: In this paper, a wheel slip control system has a vehicle speed detector for detecting a running speed of a vehicle; a driving wheel rotating condition detector, an advance driving wheel speed computer, and a driver for opening and closing the second throttle valve.
Abstract: A wheel slip control system has a vehicle speed detector for detecting a running speed of a vehicle; a driving wheel rotating condition detector for detecting an actual driving wheel rotating speed of the vehicle and the acceleration thereof; an advance driving wheel speed computer for calculating an advance driving wheel speed using as parameters the above actual driving wheel rotating speed and acceleration thereof; a second throttle valve provided in an intake passage in a position upstream or downstream of the position where a first throttle valve interlocked with a vehicle accelerator pedal is located; a driver for opening and closing the second throttle valve; and an opening/closing controller for determining a target throttle position on the basis of the detected vehicle running speed and the advance driving wheel speed and controlling the driver so that an actual throttle position of the second throttle valve approaches the above target throttle position. According to above-mentioned characteristics, it is possible to attain superior acceleration and controllability, and the air fuel ratio and fuel consumption are held in a good condition.
