TL;DR: Homogeneous molecular catalysts, which have far greater control over selectivity than heterogeneous solid catalysts are now being tested in SCFs, and early results show that high rates, improved selectivity, and elimination of masstransfer problems can be achieved.
Abstract: Supercritical fluids (SCFs), compounds heated and pressurized beyond the critical point, have many unusual properties. Homogeneous molecular catalysts, which have far greater control over selectivity than heterogeneous solid catalysts, are now being tested in SCFs, and early results show that high rates, improved selectivity, and elimination of masstransfer problems can be achieved. As industry moves away from toxic or environmentally damaging solvents, supercritical carbon dioxide may be an ideal replacement medium for nonpolar or weakly polar chemical processes. More than simply substitutes for nonpolar solvents, SCFs can radically change the observed chemistry. Supercritical carbon dioxide is also an excellent medium for its own fixation, as demonstrated by studies of its hydrogenation.

TL;DR: In this article, a vibrator is used to suppress dispersion of detection sensitivity due to a change in ambient temperature in a vibration type angular velocity detecting apparatus, where the vibrator base is extended in an X, Y, and Z, three-dimensional, orthogonal coordinate space.
Abstract: To suppress dispersion of detection sensitivity due to a change in ambient temperature in a vibration type angular velocity detecting apparatus. An angular velocity detecting apparatus comprising a vibrator, excitation means for exciting the vibrator, detecting means for detecting an amplitude of vibration based on Coriolis' force occurring with rotation of the vibrator excited to vibrate by the excitation means, and angular velocity calculating means for calculating an angular velocity of the rotation from a magnitude of the amplitude detected by the detecting means, wherein in an X, Y, and Z, three-dimensional, orthogonal coordinate space, the vibrator has a vibrator base extending in the X-direction on the XY plane, two first vibrating bars projecting in the direction of +Y from the vibrator base and at substantially symmetric positions with respect to a Y-directional axis passing a central portion of the vibrator base, two second vibrating bars projecting in the direction of -Y from the vibrator base and at the same X-directional positions as the two first vibrating bars, and a single supporting rod having prescribed torsional rigidity, projecting from the central portion of the vibrator base, and fixed at the tip thereof to a body to be detected.

TL;DR: In this paper, a multi-channel wireless communication architecture and protocol for the scenario where commercial services are provided by roadside infrastructure is proposed, which explicitly supports concurrent non-time-critical communications in separate non-safety service channels.
Abstract: One of the key goals of a vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET) is providing sufficient quality of service (QoS) for real-time safety applications while concurrently supporting commercial services. This paper proposes a multi-channel wireless communication architecture and protocol for the scenario where commercial services are provided by roadside infrastructure. This solution extends the IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN protocol to schedule periodic safety messages in a safety channel . It explicitly supports concurrent non-time-critical communications in separate, non-safety service channels . Further, it is shown that this arrangement maximizes service channel access time while maintaining the requisite QoS for safety applications. This paper concludes with simulations that confirm the attractive properties of this architecture and protocol.

TL;DR: This work presents three models of a fuel control system, each with a unique level of complexity, along with representative requirements in signal temporal logic (STL), and provides results obtained by applying a state of the art analysis tool to them.
Abstract: Industrial control systems are often hybrid systems that are required to satisfy strict performance requirements. Verifying designs against requirements is a difficult task, and there is a lack of suitable open benchmark models to assess, evaluate, and compare tools and techniques. Benchmark models can be valuable for the hybrid systems research community, as they can communicate the nature and complexity of the problems facing industrial practitioners. We present a collection of benchmark problems from the automotive powertrain control domain that are focused on verification for hybrid systems; the problems are intended to challenge the research community while maintaining a manageable scale. We present three models of a fuel control system, each with a unique level of complexity, along with representative requirements in signal temporal logic (STL). We provide results obtained by applying a state of the art analysis tool to these models, and finally, we discuss challenge problems for the research community.
