TL;DR: This work attempts in identifying key risk factors and risk types for each of the development phases of SDLC, which would help in identifying the risks at a much early stage of development.
Abstract: In recent years, despite several risk management models proposed by different researchers, software projects still have a high degree of failures. Improper risk assessment during software development was the major reason behind these unsuccessful projects as risk analysis was done on overall projects. This work attempts in identifying key risk factors and risk types for each of the development phases of SDLC, which would help in identifying the risks at a much early stage of development.

TL;DR: In this article, a line stability index (LSI) is developed for voltage stability analysis of a radial distribution system, which is tested on a standard (IEEE) 33-bus Radial Distribution System.
Abstract: Load demands on distribution system is growing rapidly. So, the distribution system is operating nearer to the stability boundary. A stability index named line stability indicator (LSI) is developed in this paper for voltage stability analysis of radial distribution system. The applicability of the indicator is tested on a standard (IEEE) 33-bus Radial Distribution System. To find the value of proposed indicator for different lines of the system under consideration MATLAB code is used. This indicator is able to find the weak lines of the system. By using FACTS device at the receiving end side of the weak line the voltage level of buses of the system can be improved. Results indicate that installation of FACTS device at the appropriate bus will make the whole system more stable in respect of voltage.

TL;DR: Load flow analysis of Newton Raphson method is coded in MATLAB programming for finding different parameters of the system and utilised for the stability analysis and results show the effectiveness of the proposed technique.
Abstract: Voltage stability is one of the important issues of power system. Voltage stability should be maintained for secure operation of power system. Bus voltages regarding maximum reactive power loading is used in this paper for analysis of voltage stability. To test the applicability of the concerned method the reactive loads are increased by a constant factor. The proposed technique is applied on standard IEEE 14 bus test system. Load flow analysis of Newton Raphson method is coded in MATLAB programming for finding different parameters of the system and utilised for the stability analysis. The result from the proposed index is also verified by another standard indicator named ‘reactive power sensitivity index’. Test results show the effectiveness of the proposed technique. FACTS device is utilised in the weakest bus to improve its voltage stability.

TL;DR: A fast voltage stability indicator has been proposed known as Unified Voltage Stability Indicator (UVSI) which is used as a substratal apparatus for the assessment of the voltage collapse point in a IEEE 30-bus power system in combination with the Feed Forward Neural Network.
Abstract: Coming days are becoming a much challenging task for the power system researchers due to the anomalous increase in the load demand with the existing system. As a result there exists a discordant between the transmission and generation framework which is severely pressurizing the power utilities. In this paper a quick and efficient methodology has been proposed to identify the most sensitive or susceptible regions in any power system network. The technique used in this paper comprises of correlation of a multi-bus power system network to an equivalent two-bus network along with the application of Artificial neural network(ANN) Architecture with training algorithm for online monitoring of voltage security of the system under all multiple exigencies which makes it more flexible. A fast voltage stability indicator has been proposed known as Unified Voltage Stability Indicator (UVSI) which is used as a substratal apparatus for the assessment of the voltage collapse point in a IEEE 30-bus power system in combination with the Feed Forward Neural Network (FFNN) to establish the accuracy of the status of the system for different contingency configurations.

TL;DR: Test results demonstrate that proposed strategy gives higher compression ratio, PSNR value with high processing speed without degrading the image quality.
Abstract: Color Image compression has become an important technology to decrease memory space and to reduce transmission time. The present study provides comparative values between RGB and YCbCr color spaces with respect to PSNR, execution time and compression ratio. Fractal coding is a valuable method which utilizes for compression of color image. This method is most suitable for irregular shape of images. Long encoding times still remain as main disadvantage of this compression technique. A hybrid fractal coding technique based on YCbCr scheme and Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) with quadtree and isosceles triangle segmentation is proposed in the present study. The study needs six phases, first, conversion of input RGB image to YCbCr scheme; second, the resulting image (YCbCr) is partitioned separately based on quadtree approach and isosceles triangle segmentation approach; third, DCT is applied to every block of the partition, fourth, scanning of every block value and zigzag manner is applied to prevent zero co-efficient; fifth, both quad tree and isosceles triangle segmentation approaches are applied separately for having partitioned resulting image; sixth, to compress the image, Run Length Encoding (RLE) approach is utilized. Test results demonstrate that proposed strategy gives higher compression ratio, PSNR value with high processing speed without degrading the image quality.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of the following parameters of building height, bay width, number of bays, cracked or un-cracked section of the structural member and support condition at the base on the fundamental time period of reinforced concrete bare frame and buildings with infill is investigated.
Abstract: The calculation of fundamental time period of vibration is a crucial step in seismic design and analysis of the structures to assess global response of the structure. Different international code proposed empirical expressions considering only height for bare frame structures and height and width of the buildings with infill to estimate the fundamental time period. This paper summaries the effect of the following parameters of building height, bay width, number of bays, cracked or un-cracked section of the structural member and support condition at the base on the fundamental time period of reinforced concrete bare frame and buildings with infill. Modal analysis of 360 building models with selected parameters is investigated in this study. A new equation, which is a function of the selected parameters (building height, bay width, number of bays, type of support condition, cracked or un-cracked sections and type of frame chosen for analysis) is also proposed using multiple linear regression analysis for predicting the fundamental period of buildings. The proposed simple model, including the building height, bay width, number of bays, type of support condition, cracked or un-cracked sections and type of frame chosen for analysis, showed better estimate in predicting the fundamental period of buildings compared to the code equations.

TL;DR: In this paper, a study on fractal geometry based image compression has been carried out in Red-Green-Blue (RGB), Hue Saturation Intensity (HIS) and modified HSI colour space.
Abstract: A study on fractal geometry based image compression has been carried out in Red-Green-Blue (RGB), Hue Saturation Intensity (HIS) and modified HSI colour space and a comparative study has been carried out on Lena and Pine images. The modified HSI scheme incorporates the concept of non linearity in the saturation of the colour in the image. The nonlinear model of HSI scheme is more realistic approach than the traditional HSI colour space. The output results have been obtained in the form of compressed image. In modified non-linear model, the processing speed and Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) have been found to yield greater value compared to the other method but compression ratio has been obtained with lower values. The non-linear saturation, despite being a more realistic phenomenon, the self-similarity in the image may be lower and this may be considered as the major reason for lower compression ratio and higher processing speed.

TL;DR: An arrangement in which all the transistors are forced to operate in sub-threshold regime is proposed in which full swing at the output of 1-bit full adder is retained with reduced area and delay overhead.
Abstract: To solve the serious problem of threshold loss that causes non-full-swing at the out-put of 1-bit full adder, an arrangement in which all the transistors are forced to operate in sub-threshold regime is proposed in this paper. But this will in turn bring additional area and delay overhead. In this work, full swing at the output of 1-bit full adder is retained with reduced area and delay overhead. An additional capacitor working in the differential voltage mode will be replacing the transistor that is used to reduce the threshold loss problem at the output of 9T based full adder as discussed in this paper. Previous works related to this domain concerns about reduction of power of only 1-bit adder. The work targets power and area reduction of 1/4/8/16 bit adders. Proposed adder shows maximum total power saving of 46.87 % and 25.99 % with respect to 8T and 9T adder configurations respectively.
