TL;DR: In this paper, an electro-optical indoor training device which permits operators of one or more laser carrying weapons to aim at a realistic simulated target scene presented by a motion picture film projector is described.
Abstract: An electro-optical indoor training device which permits operators of one or more laser carrying weapons to aim at a realistic simulated target scene presented by a motion picture film projector. Each frame of the film contains a first portion representing a scene including at least one target area at which the laser beam of any given weapon should be directed and a second portion which is substantially opaque to laser radiation except for a transparent region thereof corresponding in location exactly to the location of the target area in the first portion of the film frame. Each weapon has a low power laser attached thereto which can be excited by actuating the weapon trigger and by automatic electronic delay, thereby firing the laser at previously determined time intervals; the laser beam, if properly aimed at preselected areas of the target scene on the projection screen, will be focused onto hit detection means, whereas an improperly aimed laser beam will impinge upon attempt detection means. Attempts and hits for all involved weapons are scored on an individual basis by electronic display means and electronic multiplexing means (when more than one weapon is to be fired) for synchronizing non-concurrent firing of the various weapons with film frame projection.

TL;DR: An aircraft collision warning system in which a low power pulsed laser sym projects narrow bandwidth radiation into 4π steradians around an aircraft and a matched, narrow bandwidth receiver system, with a fourπ steradian field-of-view which detects such radiation emitted from another aircraft within range of the receiver and activates appropriate warning is described in this paper.

TL;DR: A self-contained, leak-proof sampling device and a kit for collecting chemical and biological samples from various surfaces is described in this article, where the authors present a sampling device in the form of a leak proof container that comprises a lid and base.
Abstract: A self-contained, leak-proof sampling device and kit employing said device for collecting chemical and biological samples from various surfaces. The invention provides a sampling device and kit that may be employed to easily collect chemical and biological samples, safely transport the collected samples, safely dispense collected samples for analysis and provide optimum sample recovery. The sampling device is in the form of a leak proof container that comprises a lid and base. The lid contains a sterile absorbent collection means integrated into and positioned on the inside surface of the lid. The base contains a means to facilitate sample recovery from the absorbent collection means via compression and/or scraping of the absorbent collections means. Methods for employing the present invention are described herein.
