TL;DR: When excised seed axes of peanut seed, which tested serological positive for peanut stripe virus (PStV), were grown in vitro, 37.5% of the developing plants were PStV-negative, and when plants were regenerated from shoot-tips taken from in vitro-grown, virus-infected plants, 29.4% of them were virus-negative.
Abstract: When excised seed axes of peanut seed, which tested serological positive for peanut stripe virus (PStV), were grown in vitro, 37.5% of the developing plants were PStV-negative. When plants were regenerated from shoot-tips (1 cm long) taken from in vitro-grown, virus-infected plants, 29.4% of them were virus-negative. PStV-positive plants obtained from virus-infected seed were grown for 12 wk on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 40 mg/L ribavirin (MSR) resulted in 78.6% which tested negative for PStV. All plants from seed which tested positive for PStV were 100% identified as negative if grown on MSR for 16 wk. Similarly all plants were PStV negative when obtained from 1 cm long infected shoot tips (from plants grown on MS or MSR medium) if subsequently grown for 12 wk on MSR medium.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discutem aspectos estruturais do Protocole d'Evaluation Neuropsycologique Optimal du Montreal and mostram a possibilidade de their aplicacao no Brasil for a Avaliacao Neuropsicologica Adequada as Demencias (ANAD).
Abstract: Os autores discutem aspectos estruturais do Protocole d'Evaluation Neuropsycologique Optimal du Montreal e mostram a possibilidade de sua aplicacao no Brasil para a Avaliacao Neuropsicologica Adequada as Demencias(ANAD).

TL;DR: The article describes the mechanisms used by the authors to avoid bias when planning or conducting the investigation and considerations were made on how these types of bias could have influenced the results.
Abstract: The purpose of this paper was to make some comments on validity based on an investigation developed in an urban area in the Greater Metropolitan Area of Recife, Brazil, the objective of which was to study the association between socioeconomic factors and schistosomiasis. It discusses the distortion in the odds ratio that may be introduced either by the way individuals are selected for the study or by the way the information is collected. The article describes the mechanisms used by the authors to avoid bias when planning or conducting the investigation and considerations were made on how these types of bias could have influenced the results.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss the protocol of the Optimal Neuropsychological Evaluation of Dementias of Montreal and its possible application in Brazil, which is important for evaluation in neuropsychological evolution of dementia of the Alzheimer type and bringing to the fore distinct affected cognitive profiles as much on a transversal base as longitudinal.
Abstract: The authors discuss the protocol of the Optimal Neuropsychological Evaluation of Dementias of Montreal and its possible application in Brazil. This protocol is important for evaluation in neuropsychological evolution of dementia of the Alzheimer type and for bringing to the fore distinct affected cognitive profiles as much on a transversal base as longitudinal. The authors believe that its application would contribute to the progress of research in neurology, as in the clear distinction between normal aging and pathological aging.

TL;DR: The authors describe and discuss neuropsichological aspects related to the functional organization of the brain connected to cognition in 81 Alzheimer's disease patients in the Laboratoire Theophile-Alajouanine du Centre de Recherche du Centre hospitalier Cote-des-Neiges in the University of Montreal, showing that there are two cognitive profiles.
Abstract: The authors describe and discuss neuropsichological aspects related to the functional organization of the brain connected to cognition in 81 Alzheimer's disease patients in the Laboratoire Theophile-Alajouanine du Centre de Recherche du Centre hospitalier Cote-des-Neiges in the University of Montreal. They confront the clinical of homogeneity against the heterogeneity within functional organization of the brain. The criteria used for diagnosis were those of the NINCDS-ADRDA. All of the patients were in the begining of the evolution, in stages 3 and 4 of Reiberg (Functional Assessement Staging, FAST). The conclusion shows that there are two cognitive profiles: a non-recurrent profile, made up by the majority of the patients, and the heterogeneity depends on the genetic background of each individual; a recurrent profile, made up by a small group of patients that show changes in the heterogeneity of clinical, nosological, pathological and normal aging forms.
