TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the impacts of climate variability on sugarcane production for municipalities of the state of Paraiba, Brazil, from 1990 to 2015, and investigated how the behavior of climatic elements influenced each mesoregion.
Abstract: Climate change is one of the most relevant challenges faced by contemporary societies. The effects of climate variability emphasize the agricultural vulnerability of a location, especially through the dependence of agriculture on climatic factors. This work analyzed the impacts of climatic elements on sugarcane production for municipalities of the state of Paraiba, Brazil, from 1990 to 2015. We investigated how the behavior of climatic elements influenced each mesoregion. Through the production function, a regression with panel data was estimated using the pooled, fixed, and random effects models. To verify which model was most appropriate, the Chow, Hausman, Breusch-Pagan, and Wooldridge tests were performed. According to the tests, the most suitable model was the pooled model. The results showed the impacts of climatic parameters on sugarcane production in the municipalities of Paraiba state, Brazil. Rainfall was positively correlated with production, whereas the temperature negatively influenced production. A heterogeneous response of the impacts on the mesoregions was noted, with the municipalities belonging to the mesoregion of Mata Paraibana having a higher probability of producing sugarcane than other mesoregions.

TL;DR: Pediatric oral and maxillofacial lesions were frequent and showed wide diversity, with the prevalence of mucocele, and knowledge of oral lesions is important for pediatric dentists worldwide, since it provides accurate data for the diagnosis and oral health of children.
Abstract: The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of oral and maxillofacial lesions among children from representative regions of Brazil. A retrospective descriptive study was conducted. Biopsy records comprising the period from 2000 to 2015 were obtained from the archives of three Brazilian oral pathology referral centers. A total of 32,506 biopsy specimens were analyzed, and specimens from 1,706 children aged 0-12 years were selected. Gender, age, anatomical location and histopathological diagnosis were evaluated. Descriptive statistics was carried out. Likelihood ratio tests were used to evaluate the association between the categorical variables. The level of significance was set at 0.05. The post-hoc test was used to identify the subgroups that significantly differed from one another, and the Bonferroni correction was applied. A total of 1,706 oral and maxillofacial lesions were diagnosed in pediatric patients, including 51.9% girls. Oral mucocele was the most prevalent reactive/inflammatory lesion (64%). The most commonly affected sites were the lips (34.5%) and mandible (19.9%). A significant association was observed between age and the group of lesions of the oral cavity (p < 0.001), and between age and anatomical location (p < 0.001). Pediatric oral and maxillofacial lesions were frequent and showed wide diversity, with the prevalence of mucocele. Knowledge of oral lesions is important for pediatric dentists worldwide, since it provides accurate data for the diagnosis and oral health of children.

TL;DR: A case of a patient who had more than one exposure to the coronavirus during the evolution of the disease and manifested different types of edematous lesions is reported, justifying the appearance of lesions.
Abstract: The disease caused by the new coronavirus (COVID-19) has many systemic manifestations affecting the upper airways, lungs, gastrointestinal tract and inducing hematological repercussions. With the evolution of the pandemic, skin lesions were observed. However, there is little information about the evolution of the lesions at this moment. The authors report a case of a patient who had more than one exposure to the coronavirus during the evolution of the disease and manifested different types of edematous lesions. The lesions started in the prodromal period and changed their presentation and localization during the evolution of COVID-19. The lesions regressed quickly with the use of corticoid cream and antihistamine. Viral skin lesions are frequent causes of exanthema. However, viral etiology is not always investigated in acute urticarial and atypical erythematous-edematous conditions. The immunological basis of acute urticaria has points in common with COVID-19, justifying the appearance of lesions. Investigation of viral etiology should always be remembered in acute urticarial and edematous conditions.

TL;DR: Cimoes et al. as discussed by the authors performed an analize on parodontitis and kvalitetu života, and procijeniti vezu paroditisa and kvota na uzorku pacijenata s parodorontitis.
Abstract: Adresa za dopisivanje Prof. Renata Cimoes Zavod za protetiku i oralnu te facijalnu kirurgiju Federalnog sveucilista u Pernambucu Rua Guedes Pereira 114/302, Casa Amarela, Recife-PE, Brazil. 52060-150. Kljucne rijeci oralno zdravlje; kvaliteta života; parodontalne bolesti; parodontitis. 1 Poslijediplomski student Federalnog sveucilista u Pernambucu, Brazil Post graduate student, Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil. 2 Zavod za oralnu medicinu Sveucilista u Pernambucu, Brazil Department of Oral Medicine, University of Pernambuco, Brazil. 3 Zavod za protetiku i oralnu te facijalnu kirurgiju Federalnog sveucilista u Pernambucu, Brazil Department of Prosthesis and Oral and Facial Surgery, Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors define a notion of social machine and envisage an algebra that can describe networks of such machines, which can be used to describe the interactions between any number of machines in a multitude of ways, as a means to represent real machines interacting in the real web.
Abstract: We define a notion of social machine and envisage an algebra that can describe networks of such. To start with, social machines are defined as tuples of input, output, processes, constraints, state, requests and responses, apart from defining the machines themselves, we define their connectors and conditionals that can be used to describe the interactions between any number of machines in a multitude of ways, as a means to represent real machines interacting in the real web, such as Twitter, Twitter running on top of Amazon AWS, mashups built using Twitter and, obviously, other social machines. This work is not a theoretical paper as yet, but, in more than one sense, we think we have found a way to describe web based information systems and are starting to work on what could be a practical way of dealing with the complexity of this emerging web of social machines that is all around us.
