TL;DR: In this article, soil compaction effects on soil morphostructure and on soybean root distribution, under no-tillage system, were evaluated on a Rhodic Ferralsol, in Londrina, PR.
Abstract: An experiment was carried out on a Rhodic Ferralsol, in Londrina, PR, to evaluate the soil compaction effects on soil morphostructure and on soybean root distribution, under no-tillage system The field experiment was arranged in a completely randomized block (split plot) design with four replicates, and with the compacted treatments in the main plots and soybean varieties in subplots The treatments were: one scarified soil until 20-25 cm depth layer with bulk density of 117 Mg m-3, and one compacted soil with bulk density of 138 Mg m-3, in a 12 cm depth Two varieties of soybean, Embrapa-4 and BR-16, were cultivated on subplots Roots developed in zones with less resistance of penetration and in biological tunnels The soybean grain yield was not different under compacted and noncompacted soil, because soil water moisture was adequate Embrapa-4 showed greater root density than BR-16

TL;DR: Genetic variability in three species of Pimelodidae catfish collected at four sites in the Tibagi river-basin was analysed using RAPD and isoenzymatic techniques and showed that the individuals from the locations were clustered together, supporting the hypothesis that I. labrosus has a sedentary or localized geographical distribution.
Abstract: Genetic variability in three species of Pimelodidae catfish (Iheringichthys labrosus, Pimelodus maculatus and Pimelodus cf. absconditus), collected at four sites in the Tibagi river-basin: Sertaneja, Londrina (lower Tibagi), Sapopema (middle Tibagi) and Tibagi (upper Tibagi) was analysed using RAPD and isoenzymatic techniques. Iheringichthys labrosus had the greatest genetic variability showing a proportion of mean polymorphic loci (P¯m) of 53.7%. The dendrogram showed that the individuals from the locations were clustered together, supporting the hypothesis that I. labrosus has a sedentary or localized geographical distribution. Pimelodus maculatus is the only species studied that is considered to be highly migratory. The P¯m obtained for this species was 30.2%. Their genetic dendrogram showed that the individuals were not clustered, based on the place of collection. P. cf. absconditus had a P¯m value of 47.4%, and the external morphology of this species is similar to that of I. labrosus, which hindered differentiation of individuals from the two species. RAPD and isoenzyme analysis, however, provided differential patterns for P. cf. absconditus from I. labrosus.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of parent material, texture, and oxide content on soil organic carbon (SOC) contents in tropical highlands was assessed, and it was shown that the absence of effects of soil parent materials, texture and oxide contents on SOC retention can be due to the overriding effect of altitudes of 900-1100m a.s.l., which resulted in higher SOC stocks because of lower mean annual temperatures.

TL;DR: Both the solvents and the sample matrix strongly influenced the extractability of total phenolics and isoflavones and the highest antioxidant activities by the DPPH and ABTS methods were obtained using extraction mixtures containing at least 75 wt% water.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for the simultaneous determination of hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) and losartan (LOS) in pharmaceutical formulations using differential-pulse voltammetry was developed.
Abstract: A method for the simultaneous determination of hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) and losartan (LOS) in pharmaceutical formulations using differential-pulse voltammetry (DPV) was developed. Two very well-resolved and reproducible oxidation peaks of HCTZ and LOS, with separation of 0.23 V, were obtained in Britton–Robinson (BR) buffer (pH 9.5) using an anodically pretreated boron-doped diamond electrode. Under the optimum analytical experimental conditions, the voltammetric method exhibited linear responses for simultaneous determination of HCTZ and LOS in the concentration range 3.0 × 10−6 to 7.4 × 10−5 mol L−1 for both compounds, with detection limits of 1.2 × 10−6 mol L−1 and 9.5 × 10−7 mol L−1, respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied in the simultaneous determination of LOS and HCTZ content in pharmaceutical formulations, whose accuracy was attested by good agreement of the results (paired t-test at a 95% confidence level) with those obtained using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
