TL;DR: In this article, the potential neuroprotective effects of Eugenol (Eug) on 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) induced in rats were investigated.
Abstract: Oxidative stress is involved in many pathological disturbs, such as neurodegenerative disorders. Eugenol (Eug) is a phenolic compound with antioxidant and neuroprotective activities. Then, the present study was conducted to investigate the potential neuroprotective effects of Eug on oxidative stress model induced by 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) in rats. Firstly, the in vivo oxidative stress model was performed by intrastriatal injection (int.) of 6-OHDA (21 µg), followed by the treatment of Eug (0.1, 1 and 10 mg/kg/7 days) per os (p.o.). On the 7 th day, behavioural tests were performed. On the 8 th day, all the animals were euthanasied and their cerebral areas were excised for neurochemical and transcriptional analyses. The results showed that the treatment with Eug promoted neuroprotective effects on in vivo through reducing of oxidative stress and modulation of genes related to antioxidant activity. Furthermore, animals treated with Eug demonstrated returning of behavioural performance and body weight gain to normal conditions. Thus, the present study reports the neuroprotective effects of Eugenol against oxidative stress induced by 6-hydroxydopamine in rats.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors assess the level at which the said factors indicating satisfaction are impacting the work of employees of a project in the bakery sector in Sobral-CE, and find that, regarding the nature of work, immediate superior and work team dimensions, in the researched location, the evaluation was very positive, while the dimensions of job and remuneration showed an average satisfaction regarding these questions and, possibility of evaluation by the company.
Abstract: Job satisfaction is important for the well-being of employees and, consequently, provides better performance in their activities. Some authors consider that in order to have an adequate notion of how to measure it, the relationship of the employee with some factors must be analyzed, among which they are always studied by the literature of the area and therefore chosen to compose this work: the nature and conditions of the work. work, salary, job promotion system, work team and immediate superior. In this sense, the present study sought to assess the level at which the said factors indicating satisfaction are impacting the work of employees of a project in the bakery sector in Sobral-CE. To this end, an exploratory descriptive research referenced with data collection in the field was carried out, using the case study method. The main authors surveyed were Bergamini (2000), Chiavenato (2003), Tamayo (1998), Sarathy and Barbosa (1981) and Martinez and Paraguay (2003). The results showed that, regarding the nature of work, immediate superior and work team dimensions, in the researched location, the evaluation was very positive, while the dimensions of job and remuneration showed an average satisfaction regarding these questions and, possibility of evaluation by the company. The results of the dimensions are consistent with the data found in the general assessment with the quality of life indicators.

TL;DR: In general, one can affirm that the quality of life and health of Brazilian immigrants living in Portugal is good, but due to the particularities of the migration process in the current political and international context, a systematic monitoring of living conditions andhealth of this population is necessary.
Abstract: Background: Immigrants face many challenges when settling in a foreign country, numerous factors influence this immigrant experience including the resources they bring with them and those they find in the host society. The literature has indicated that a significant number of individuals migrate in search of a better quality of life. In this context, the objective of the study was to analyze the quality of life and health of Brazilian immigrants living in Portugal, using the "Medical Outcomes Study: 36-Item Short Form Survey" (SF-36). Methods and Results: A cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach developed under the project titled: Health status and quality of life of Brazilian immigrants in Portugal conducted in the first half of 2016, with 682 Brazilian immigrant women over 18 living in Portugal. This study adopted as reference SF-36, a generic instrument for the evaluation of Quality of Life. It can be affirmed that the quality of life and health of Brazilian immigrants living in Portugal is good, since all dimensions presented values above 50%. It was evidenced that Brazilian immigrants who live alone have lower levels of quality of life and health than those who live with someone and, that Brazilian immigrants who are unemployed, have low levels of quality of life and health compared to those who are in another employment situation, and Brazilian immigrants entering the labor market with a workload of more than 40 hours per week present similar levels of quality of life and health compared to those who work fewer hours. Conclusion: In general, one can affirm that the quality of life and health of Brazilian immigrants living in Portugal is good, but due to the particularities of the migration process in the current political and international context, a systematic monitoring of living conditions and health of this population is necessary. TL;DR: The results highlight the potential and limits of UHCWs who provide care for the aging population and are important to health and social policy making and household decision making.
Abstract: Introduction The world’s population is rapidly aging. Unregulated health care workers (UHCWs) are emerging as a potentially important workforce in the care of older adults. Objective A review was conducted to identify the activities of UHCWs with respect to contributions and limitations. Methods A systematic integrative literature review was conducted using online databases (LILACS, PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, and grey literature). The inclusion criteria were as follows: (i) description of UHCW activities related to older adults; and (ii) description of UHCW activities performed in Brazil or Canada. Results Eleven papers were included in this review. In both countries, UHCW activities included health promotion, mental health care, and rehabilitation. In Brazil, UHCWs performed integrated care, while in Canada UHCWs performed personal care and housekeeping. Conclusion These results highlight the potential and limits of UHCWs who provide care for the aging population. Such information is important to health and social policy making and household decision making.

TL;DR: In most cases, the increase in NaCl supply in a nutritive solution reduced the dry matter of roots, stem, and leaves, and the application of 0.5 mmol L-1 of SiO2 reduced the deleterious effect of salinity on all macronutrients absorption in yellow passion fruit cultivated in a nutritious solution.
Abstract: We carried out greenhouse experiment to evaluate the effect of silicon (Si) on growth and mineral nutrition of yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis) submitted to saline stress in a nutritive solution. The experiment comprised a completely randomized design in a 5x4 factorial scheme: five NaCl concentrations (0; 7.5; 15; 30 and 60 mmol L-1) and four SiO2 concentrations (0; 0.5; 1.0 and 1.5 mmol L-1) with four replicates. At the end of 35 days, we measured stem diameter, leaves, stem, and roots dry matter, as well as the macronutrient, Na, Cl, and Si leaf accumulation in plants. In most cases, the increase in NaCl supply in a nutritive solution reduced the dry matter of roots, stem, and leaves. The SiO2 supply attenuated the effect on higher tested saline stress (30 and 60 mmol L-1 NaCl) on roots and stem dry matter. The application of 0.5 mmol L-1 of SiO2 reduced the deleterious effect of salinity on all macronutrients absorption in yellow passion fruit cultivated in a nutritive solution.
