TL;DR: This article explored the relationship between beliefs, emotions, and identities by looking at coconstructing, overlapping concepts to advance our understanding of language learning and teaching, and illustrated how beliefs and emotions are intrinsically and interactively related, and how beliefs within a socio-historical context influence the construction of identities.
Abstract: Several authors (Frijda, Manstead, & Bem, 2000; Van Veen & Lasky, 2006) suggest that emotions, cognitions, and identities are intrinsically related. Authors in social psychology (Fiedler & Bless, 2000; Frijda, Manstead, & Bem, 2000; Rosiek, 2003) have considered how beliefs are particularly sensitive to affective influences and how emotions, cognitions, and identities are intrinsically related. Understanding this relationship would help researchers to reveal complex key issues in beliefs research, such as the relationship between beliefs and action. Yet, although research on beliefs in applied linguistics goes back to the 70s and 80s, there has been scant connection with emotions and identities. This paper aims to reflect on the relationship between beliefs, emotions, and identities by looking at these coconstructing, overlapping concepts to advance our understanding of language learning and teaching. Through a review of studies on beliefs, emotions, and identities within applied linguistics and other areas, I illustrate how beliefs and emotions are intrinsically and interactively related, and how beliefs within a socio-historical context influence the construction of identities. Identities influence the kinds of emotions and beliefs that individuals attribute to themselves and to others. Emotions, in turn, can influence identities and how we construct them. Implications for research on beliefs, emotions, and identities are suggested.

TL;DR: Evaluating the use of medicinal plants by the population assisted by the "Programa de Saude da Familia" in Governador Valadares -MG found that most plants under use are prepared as tea and obtained in own cropping and most species have pharmacological activity already proven in the literature.
Abstract: This study was conducted to evaluate the use of medicinal plants by the population assisted by the "Programa de Saude da Familia" in Governador Valadares -MG, in order to rescue, preserve and use this knowledge in works carried out with the community. The preestablished questionnaire methodology was used. Those questionnaires were applied by the Family Health Agents. The study was accomplished in 27 residential quarters, as being applied 2454 questionnaires, and 232 plants were mentioned as medicinal ones by the interviewed population. The main indications for using the medicinal plants were: as sedative (10%), against influenza (18%) and infections (9%). Most plants under use are prepared as tea (78%) and are obtained in own cropping (57%). In general, the knowledge on the use and preparation of the medicinal plants proceeded from their relatives (67%). Most mentioned and popularly used species have pharmacological activity already proven in the literature. However, this population needs a correct orientation on their cropping and therapeutic use.

TL;DR: A GIS-based alternative to the traditional labor-intensive approach - manual features extraction using paper maps and photogrammetry techniques that relies on the new recent concept of hydrologically correct digital elevation models and has as principal advantages the consistency and reproducibility of the results, besides savings on both time and labor.
