TL;DR: The identified and cloned genomic components of a new tomato-infecting begomovirus from Brazil, for which the name Tomato crinkle leaf yellows virus (TCrLYV) is proposed, and a DNA-A variant of Tomato chlorotic mottle virus (ToCMV]-MG-Bt1, further support the notion that interspecies recombination may play a significant role in geminivirus diversity and their emergence as agriculturally important pathogens.
Abstract: Species of the genus Begomovirus (family Geminiviridae) found in the western hemisphere typically have a bipartite genome that consists of two 2·6 kb DNA genomic components, DNA-A and DNA-B. We have identified and cloned genomic components of a new tomato-infecting begomovirus from Brazil, for which the name Tomato crinkle leaf yellows virus (TCrLYV) is proposed, and a DNA-A variant of Tomato chlorotic mottle virus (ToCMV-[MG-Bt1]). Sequence analysis revealed that TCrLYV was most closely related to ToCMV, although it was sufficiently divergent to be considered a distinct virus species. Furthermore, these closely related viruses induce distinguishable symptoms in tomato plants. With respect to ToCMV-[MG-Bt1] DNA-A, evidence is presented that suggests a recombinant origin. It possesses a hybrid genome on which the replication compatible module (AC1 and replication origin) was probably donated by ToCMV-[BA-Se1] and the remaining sequences appear to have originated from Tomato rugose mosaic virus (ToRMV). Despite the high degree of sequence conservation with its predecessors, ToCMV-[MG-Bt1] differs significantly in its biological properties. Although ToCMV-[MG-Bt1] DNA-A did not infect tomato plants, it systemically infected Nicotiana benthamiana, induced symptoms of mottling and accumulated viral DNA in the apical leaves in the absence of a cognate DNA-B. The modular rearrangement that resulted in ToCMV-[MG-Bt1] DNA-A may have provided this virus with a more aggressive nature. Our results further support the notion that interspecies recombination may play a significant role in geminivirus diversity and their emergence as agriculturally important pathogens.

TL;DR: The effects of bakuchiol, a meroterpenoid isolated from the leaves of Psoralea glandulosa L., on phospholipase A2 (PLA2) activity from different sources, human neutrophil responses, zymosan air pouch and topical inflammation in mice were investigated.
Abstract: The effects of bakuchiol, a meroterpenoid isolated from the leaves of Psoralea glandulosa L., on phospholipase A2 (PLA2) activity from different sources, human neutrophil responses, zymosan air pouch and topical inflammation in mice, were investigated.
This natural product was a weak inhibitor of secretory and intracellular PLA2 but dose-dependently reduced the formation of LTB4 and TXB2 by human neutrophils and platelet microsomes, respectively. In addition, bakuchiol inhibited degranulation in human neutrophils, whereas superoxide generation was not affected. In mice, bakuchiol decreased cell migration, myeloperoxidase activity and eicosanoid levels in the air pouch inflammation induced by zymosan. After topical administration, this compound was effective as an inhibitor of oedema and myeloperoxidase activity in the 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol 13-acetate (TPA)-induced ear oedema and significantly reduced the PGE2 content and ear oedema in the arachidonic acid-induced response.
Bakuchiol is a natural anti-inflammatory agent able to control leukocytic functions such as eicosanoid production, migration and degranulation in the inflammatory site.

TL;DR: In this paper, a trabalho to determine the teores of selenio in alimentos consumidos no Brasil was conducted, using an espectrofotometria of absorcao atomica, utilizing a tecnica de geracao de hidretos, e oxidacao da materia orgânica por via umida.
Abstract: Objetivo.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that, while nitrate reductase (NR)1-mediated NO generation is required for the ABA-induced closure of stomata in turgid leaves, it is not required for A BA-enhanced stomatal closure under conditions leading to rapid dehydration.
Abstract: Abscisic acid (ABA)-induced stomatal closure is mediated by a complex, guard cell signalling network involving nitric oxide (NO) as a key intermediate. However, there is a lack of information concerning the role of NO in the ABA-enhanced stomatal closure seen in dehydrated plants. The data herein demonstrate that, while nitrate reductase (NR)1-mediated NO generation is required for the ABA-induced closure of stomata in turgid leaves, it is not required for ABA-enhanced stomatal closure under conditions leading to rapid dehydration. The results also show that NO signalling in the guard cells of turgid leaves requires the ABA-signalling pathway to be both capable of function and active. The alignment of this NO signalling with guard cell Ca(2+)-dependent/independent ABA signalling is discussed. The data also highlight a physiological role for NO signalling in turgid leaves and show that stomatal closure during the light-to-dark transition requires NR1-mediated NO generation and signalling.
