Epidemiological analysis of occupational dermatitis notified in Brazil in the period 2007 to 2012.

Abstract: BACKGROUND: Occupational dermatitis affects the quality of life and productivity of workers. Studies on the subject are scarce in Brazil. It is estimated that the disease is underreported and that many affected patients do not seek health care. OBJECTIVES: To conduct an epidemiological analysis of occupational dermatitis notified via SINAN in Brazil from January 2007 to December 2012; evaluate the profile of patients assisted; and check the main etiological agents involved. METHODS: We analyzed the compulsory notification forms of cases of occupational dermatitis filled nationwide during January 2007 to December 2012. RESULTS: During the study period 3027 cases of occupational dermatitis were notified in Brazil. In 61.4% of cases patients were men aged between 35-49 years (39.6%). The most described etiological agent was chromium (13.9%). The location of the body most affected was the hands, with 28.4% of cases. The construction sector is implicated in 28.7% of cases and domestic services by 18%. Allergic contact dermatitis is the most prevalent occupational dermatitis (20.6%) and the region with the highest number of notifications was the Midwest, with 376.4 cases per million inhabitants. CONCLUSIONS: The profile of patients most affected by occupational dermatitis in Brazil during the study period was: men with elementary school, aged between 20 and 49 years old and working in the construction industry. The most common occupational dermatitis were allergic contact dermatitis caused by chromium after years of exposure, being the hands and head the parts of the body most affected.

The approach to the environmental issues in postgraduate nursing in Brazil.

Abstract: Objectives: to analyze the insertion of environmental issues in the postgraduate stricto sensu in nursing in Brazil. Methods: quali-quantitative research, of exploratory approach, with documental research in the Sucupira Platform and in sites of the 112 courses stricto sensu in Nursing in Brazil, in 2018. We analyzed the curricular matrixes; course menus; teaching profile; dissertations and thesis (2004-2016); and bibliographic productions of the four-year evaluation 2013-2016. The analysis of quantitative data was performed by statistical methods; and qualitative data, by the Content Analysis Technique, outlined by Bardin. Results: the results demonstrate incipiency in the treatment of environmental issues. Regarding the theme, we highlight those that refer to socio-historical-cultural aspects in relation to the more direct environmental approach and facilitator of environmental conservation and consequent promotion of health. Final Considerations: The analysis allows identifying the fragility of the environmental approach in the analyzed programs, being necessary to improve the cross-sectionality of environmental issues.

The effect of make-up on the emotions and the perception of beauty

Abstract: A imagem pessoal e um fator chave na comunicacao e socializacao dos individuos e exerce uma influencia positiva na autoestima quando esta alinhada com uma autoimagem positiva. Diante disso, o objetivo desta revisao da literatura e explorar os efeitos da maquiagem na atividade cerebral e na neurobiologia das emocoes. A maquiagem e um dispositivo usado diariamente por varias pessoas, e seu uso pode ser considerado uma pratica difundida e antiga que fortalece a autoestima de muitas mulheres ao proporcionar-lhes uma sensacao de seguranca que valoriza a imagem de si mesmas. Pode-se inferir que, uma vez que a maquiagem serve para realcar a beleza de alguem (e tendo em vista que a beleza e um conceito abrangente), ela pode estar intimamente relacionada as emocoes. Uma serie de estudos tem como objetivo explorar a nossa percepcao de alguem que usa maquiagem, e como isso afeta nossa compreensao, bem como os procedimentos envolvidos em sua aplicacao e seus possiveis efeitos. Em particular, pode ser destacada a relacao entre a composicao, a autoestima, as emocoes e as celulas cerebrais que estao envolvidas nas emocoes e a forma como se expressam.

Autochthonous canine visceral leishmaniasis cases occur in Paraná state since 2012: isolation and identification of Leishmania infantum.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to confirm the emergence of canine visceral leishmaniasis among dogs in Foz do Iguacu. The disease was diagnosed through the isolation and molecular identification of Leishmania infantum. In the first sample collection stage (2012), three lymph node aspirates and 46 buffy coat samples were obtained mostly from the dogs that were seroreagents for leishmaniasis. In the second sample collection stage (2013), the buffy coat samples were collected from 376 dogs located close to Paraguay, Parana river, center and peripheral parts of the city. The DNA from the six isolates, four from the first sampling stage (4/49) and two from the second sampling stage (2/376), was subjected to polymerase chain reaction using the K26F/R primers. The isolate was confirmed as L. infantum by sequencing. As none of the dogs had ever left the city, the isolates were confirmed as autochthonous. Further, the study confirmed the emergence of canine visceral leishmaniasis in Parana through the identification of L. infantum among dogs in Foz do Iguacu city. Hence, collaborative control measures should be designed and implemented by the public agencies and research institutions of Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay to control the spread of visceral leishmaniasis.

O processo decisório e suas implicações na cooperação universidade, empresa e governo: um estudo de caso

Abstract: As universidades publicas assumem, ao lado de suas funcoes institucionais de ensino e pesquisa, tambem o papel de agentes propulsores do desenvolvimento socio-economico ao estabelecerem uma ponte entre governo e empresas. Todavia, a caracteristica complexa e pluralista destas organizacoes influencia o processo decisorio e, consequentemente, o adequado cumprimento deste papel integrador. O objetivo deste estudo foi identificar as implicacoes do processo decisorio de uma universidade no cumprimento de seu papel no modelo da Helice Triplice, com base nos mecanismos de transferencia de tecnologia adotados. Trata-se de um estudo de caso qualitativo, descritivo e ex-post-facto. Dados foram coletados atraves de entrevistas, documentos e observacao nao participante, e analisados por meio de tecnicas de analise documental e de conteudo. Resultados evidenciaram preponderância de caracteristicas da Burocracia Profissional e de uma Anarquia Organizada no processo decisorio, com impacto no movimento da helice ao retardar ou acelerar seu movimento bilateral. Como implicacoes, destacaram-se a ambiguidade de objetivos entre os envolvidos, o forte aspecto politico e a burocracia interna que ocasionam morosidade ou dinamicidade ao processo. Constatou-se que a Universidade tem cumprido seu papel de agente propulsor do desenvolvimento socioeconomico, bem como foi identificado o esforco institucional para criacao de entidades hibridas que garantam maior autonomia e dinamicidade aos mecanismos de cooperacao, a exemplo do Hotel Tecnologico, da Incubadora e do Escritorio Verde.
