TL;DR: The adherence of RCTs of endodontic instrumentation to the CONSORT Statement requires improvements and will also reduce the high or some concerns risk of bias of studies in the field.
Abstract: This systematic review aimed to evaluate the adherence to the CONSORT Statement in clinical studies comparing different instrumentation techniques in Endodontics. Methodology: A systematic search was carried out through Medline databases. There was no restriction on publication year or idiom. Solely randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were included. The articles were evaluated in compliance with CONSORT. Descriptive analyses of the number of studies by journal, country, and quality assessments were performed with RoB 2.0 Cochrane Collaboration’s tool for assessing risk of bias in RCTs. A total of 6779 studies were identified, and only 33 meet the eligibility criteria. In relation to the overall risk of bias, eight out of 33 were classified as at ‘low’ risk of bias. The overall CONSORT score for the included studies in this review was 22 ± 6.2 points. Significant differences among countries were observed (p = 0.03). The range of years had a significant influence on the average CONSORT score (p = 0.01). The adherence of RCTs of endodontic instrumentation to the CONSORT Statement requires improvements. Adherence to the CONSORT statement will also reduce the high or some concerns risk of bias of studies in the field. CRD42020160552

TL;DR: There were no changes in the prevalence of recurrent wheezing in infants, but there was an increase in physician-diagnosed asthma and a reduction in severity, which, however, did not affect the rate of hospitalizations.
Abstract: OBJECTIVE To determine epidemiological changes in recurrent wheezing among infants in Curitiba, Brazil METHODS This cross-sectional study used the questionnaire Estudio Internacional de Sibilancias en Lactantes (EISL) Parents of infants aged 12 to 15 months completed the instrument from August 2005 to December 2006 (phase I) and from September 2009 to September 2010 (phase III) RESULTS Parents of 3,003 infants participated in phase I, and 226% of the infants had recurrent wheezing (≥ 3 episodes) After 5 years, 1,003 parents completed the same questionnaire during phase III, and 198% of the infants had recurrent wheezing (p = 01) There was a reduction in symptom severity (p = 0001) and number of emergency department visits (p < 0001), but not in number of hospitalizations (p = 012) Physician-diagnosed asthma was more frequent in phase III (p = 003) CONCLUSIONS There were no changes in the prevalence of recurrent wheezing in infants, but there was an increase in physician-diagnosed asthma and a reduction in severity, which, however, did not affect the rate of hospitalizations

TL;DR: Considering the gains in quality and patients' safety, the authors conclude that costs for implementing a quality control program for radiopharmaceuticals can be absorbed in the financial planning of nuclear medicine centers.

TL;DR: Central giant cell lesion can have a high degree of invasiveness, which increases the importance of early diagnosis and Combination therapies can provide a favorable prognosis.
Abstract: Central giant cell lesion is a non-neoplastic proliferation, usually asymptomatic, of unknown etiology. The purpose of this case report is to report the diagnosis and the treatment of a recurrent central giant cell lesion in the maxilla. A 31-year-old Brazilian woman presented to our Surgery Service for evaluation of a cystic lesion in her teeth 13 and 15, although she had previously received endodontic treatment for her teeth 13 and 15 without regression of the lesion. On clinical examination, an increase and painless swelling was observed in her right jaw. An excisional biopsy of the lesion was performed under general anesthesia; the material was sent for pathological examination and a diagnosis compatible with central giant cell lesion was made. She presented again, 10 months after the removal of the lesion, with a recurrent lesion that surrounded her incisors, canine, and right premolar. We suggested that she underwent treatment with intralesional corticosteroids injection. The lesion was significantly reduced and the remainder of the lesion was enucleated. She is monitored at 3-month intervals; at 6 months postoperatively there has been no recurrence. Central giant cell lesion can have a high degree of invasiveness, which increases the importance of early diagnosis. Combination therapies can provide a favorable prognosis. Periodic monitoring is recommended, thus avoiding the chance of a relapse.
