Avaliação de risco à saúde humana do aterro controlado de Morretes

Abstract: O presente trabalho teve por objetivo a avaliacao do risco a saude humana na area do aterro controlado de Morretes, Parana, usando a metodologia RBCA. Realizou-se uma avaliacao de risco deterministica, considerando-se tres cenarios de exposicao e tres vias de exposicao: ingestao de agua subterrânea, exposicao ao solo superficial e inalacao de vapores e particulas em ambientes abertos. Os resultados mostraram maiores valores de indices de risco e de perigo para o cenario de exposicao local (on site). Procedeu-se ainda a uma avaliacao de risco probabilistica para avaliar o efeito da correlacao entre massa corporal e taxa de ingestao de agua e entre massa corporal e taxa de inalacao de ar sobre a distribuicao de frequencia dos riscos. Os resultados mostraram que a adocao da hipotese de independencia entre as variaveis conduz a decisoes mais conservadoras.

Sustentabilidade na Construção Civil: significados, práticas e ideologia

Abstract: The context and de assumptions of sustainability constitute one of the most evident phenomena in the last decade. Hence, the organizations are suffering strong pressures related to the economic, social and environmental dimensions, which, considering civil construction are more specifically on the use of natural resources and waste generation. The context and de assumptions of sustainability indicate a need for actions in the civil construction sector in relation to the use of materials and management of the generation and discard of construction waste. This study has as objective revealing the meanings of sustainability for civil construction companies in Curitiba focusing on the management of the waste generation and discard in the ideological context of society. The understanding and meanings of sustainability were analyzed, as well as what actions taken by the companies demonstrate more efficiency in construction waste management. The research presents a qualitative content approach and sampling of non-probabilistic nature conveniently realized until the moment of saturation of the answers of companies’ managers in Curitiba. Even considering subjectivity as to sustainability, the results identify the companies clearly understand the context and their actions are strongly focused on it. Ergo, there is a great concern about the environment conservation and welfare of the planet.

Comparação de partículas totais em suspensão via determinação gravimétrica com amostragem de grande e pequeno volume no estado do paraná, brasil

Abstract: Foram realizadas determinacoes de particulas totais em suspensao aplicandoseem paralelo dois metodos gravimetricos distintos: da amostragem de grandevolume, conforme metodologia de referencia estabelecida na AssociacaoBrasileira de Normas Tecnicas (ABNT), Norma Brasileira (NBR) no 9.547/97;e da amostragem de pequeno volume, conforme metodo definido nesteestudo. As amostragens ocorreram de outubro de 2011 a janeiro de 2012, noestado do Parana, Brasil, em locais com caracteristicas distintas. O primeirolocal em area urbana, sem atividades industriais vizinhas; no segundo localpredominava em seu entorno uma industria papeleira; e no terceiro, aatividade de armazenamento e distribuicao de fertilizantes. O metodo doamostrador de pequeno volume apresentou resultados equivalentes aometodo de referencia na faixa de 0 a 100 μg.m-3 em ambientes com particuladofino. Verificaram-se resultados discrepantes em ambiente com particulas dediâmetros maiores. Esses resultados foram atribuidos a limitacao do ajusteinicial de vazao com o metodo de referencia e sua limitacao de controleao longo da amostragem. A ampla faixa de velocidade de aspiracao deamostra admitida para o metodo de referencia aumenta a incerteza de seusresultados, principalmente em atmosferas com particulas de maior diâmetro.O metodo da amostragem de pequeno volume proposto demonstrou ser umaalternativa mais moderna e vantajosa para determinacao de particulas totaisem suspensao, se comparado ao metodo de referencia, e possibilita maiorflexibilidade e menor incerteza de resultados decorrentes da amostragem.

Chorea as the First Manifestation of Cerebral Infarction.

Abstract: Cerebrovascular disease (CVD), which usually manifests as a focal neurological deficit, is presented here as a movement disorder. This unusual manifestation corresponds to 1% of the CVDs and 8% of the striatal lesions. We report a 37-year-old right-handed woman who developed choreic movements as the first manifestation of an acute stroke. The computed tomography (CT) scan revealed a cortical/subcortical hypodense lesion in the right middle cerebral artery territory. This picture slowly improved and remitted completely after six weeks. Basal ganglia infarcts are crucial for the development of hemichorea, however, in spite of its frequency, movement disorders are disproportionally rare. In the majority of cases, the prognosis is good with spontaneous remission after two to four weeks.

Impactos da COVID-19 no trabalho e saúde mental dos trabalhadores da saúde

Abstract: The global impacts on public health and the economy caused by the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the weaknesses of crisis and emergency preparedness systems for both the State and companies. Work, employment and income were notably affected and insecurity for the future due to economic losses, fear of contagion, changes in routine and increased environmental stressors affected workers, especially health professionals on the front lines of fighting the pandemic. This article aims to discuss the impacts of COVID-19 on the work and mental health of health workers. To this end, the production of the most recent knowledge about the impacts of COVID-19 on work and income and its relationship with evidence of symptoms of mental health problems among workers, especially health professionals, were analyzed. This is an integrative literature review, supported by international databases, reports by international agencies and relevant legislation. The results demonstrate that the prolonged exposure to the pathogenic agent, fear of contagion, intensive working hours, environmental and occupational stressors, the need to deal with the psychological demands of patients and the ethical dilemmas in decision making make health professionals susceptible to loss of quality of life during and after the pandemic.
