TL;DR: The results suggested that this EO presents potential of activity against the oral micro-organisms here evaluated, and identified eugenol, eucalyptol, and limonene as the major compounds of its.
Abstract: Background: Pimenta pseudocaryophyllus is a native species from Brazil, whose leaves are used in the traditional culture as medicinal plants, being reported with antimicrobial and antifungal properties. Objectives: The aim of this study is to analyze and characterize the chemical composition of the essential oil (EO) extracted from the leaves of P. pseudocaryophyllus, as well as to evaluate its potential for antimicrobial activity against pathogenic bacteria inhabiting the human oral cavity. Materials and Methods: The extraction was performed by steam distillation and the chemical composition was analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The antimicrobial potential of the EO against Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterococcus faecalis was evaluated by agar well diffusion method. Different dilutions of the EO (10, 5, 2.5, 1.25, 0.625, 0.312, 0.156, 0.078, and 0.039%, v/v) were tested against the micro-organisms in disk diffusion tests to evaluate the minimum inhibitory concentration. Results: The extraction yielded 0.65% of EO in relation to fresh leaves of P. pseudocaryophyllus. GC-MS analysis identified eugenol, eucalyptol, and limonene as the major compounds of its. The material showed antimicrobial activity, especially against E. faecalis, with moderate activity against S. aureus, both at concentrations from 1.25% to 10%. Conclusion: The results suggested that this EO presents potential of activity against the oral micro-organisms here evaluated.

TL;DR: It was observed that after the intervention of the teacher, several students were able to become sufficient in the understanding of the concepts of object orientation, reaching the proposed objectives.
Abstract: The teaching of the object-oriented paradigm has become a very common practice in the introduction of computer courses and the difficulties in the teaching-learning process of this paradigm are well known. This paper presents the results obtained from analyzes on the process of constructing UML Class Diagrams, through experiments. For this, a tool was developed to support the teaching-learning process of the object-oriented paradigm, during the construction of Class Diagrams. The main objective of the tool is to collect and analyze the data generated by the students during the construction of Class Diagrams, not only evaluating the final model constructed by the students, but the whole course to obtain this model. With the results generated, the teacher had the possibility to individually assist students with their main difficulties in understanding the object-oriented paradigm. It was observed that after the intervention of the teacher, several students were able to become sufficient in the understanding of the concepts of object orientation, reaching the proposed objectives.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the process of industrial deconcentration in Brazil in the recent last years, specifically between 1996 and 2010, and found that the process is concentrated, which means that only medium-sized cities increased their industrial production.
Abstract: This study analyzes the process of industrial deconcentration in Brazil in the recent last years, specifically between 1996 and 2010. Historically, Sao Paulo was the state that presented the greatest concentration, as well its capital and metropolitan region. Its pinnacle of concentration happened in 1970s and since then it began to deconcentrate. This study’s results show that it continues to deconcentrate, slowly, however. The capital of the state of Sao Paulo and its metropolitan area are the places where the deconcentration process is more intense in comparison with other cities. The data also show that the deconcentration process is concentrated, which means that only medium-sized cities increased their industrial production.

TL;DR: In this paper, four compact powders were formulated with the following treatments: micronization, hammer mill, addition of raw materials that modify the sensory, and simple mixture, passing the tests for glazing, detachment of color and drop test, and later forwarded to sensory evaluation by 45 volunteers.
Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate different manufacturing processes of compact powders and establish consumer preferences through sensory analysis. Four compact powders were formulated with the following treatments: micronization, hammer mill, addition of raw materials that modify the sensory, and simple mixture. The powders were compressed, passing the tests for glazing, detachment of color and drop test, and later forwarded to sensory evaluation by 45 volunteers. In the compression tests, drop test, glazing and detachment of color, the micronized sample obtained the best results showing the reduction of particle size influences the packaging of powders and improves the compression of the product, but in the sensory analysis the sample obtained by simple mixture was the preference of most of the volunteers. It was felt that, despite the best compaction results are obtained for samples micronized, the preference of the volunteers is still linked to older manufacturing processes where the resulting powder shows more coarse and form a thicker layer on the skin.
