TL;DR: In this paper, an analise of 549 artigos publicado between 2000 and 2005, in the context of the Campo de Administração Publica e Gestao Social no Brasil, is presented.

TL;DR: The work in this article deals with the epistemological and methodological aspects that allow us to observe the limits and possibilities of historical research in the field of Organizational Studies, with a particular emphasis on those undertaken in Brazil.
Abstract: Over the last few years there has been an acute need for constituting organizational research that is directed at local specificities. This also happens in the case of Brazil, where there is seen to be a distance between the national context and that of the countries from which the management technology that is applied here is imported. One of the ways of checking the particular aspects of Brazilian management and organization is by the historical analysis of these models. This text, therefore, deals with the epistemological and methodological aspects that allow us to observe the limits and possibilities of historical research in the field of Organizational Studies, with a particular emphasis on those undertaken in Brazil. Our analysis has been constructed in three sections; the first deals with the assumptions that surround the approximation between the historical perspective and the social sciences; the second deals with historiographic issues that are directly related to the field of Organizational Studies; and the third deals with some of the contributions that Brazilian historiography have made to Organizational Studies. Finally, we present some of the themes for a research agenda.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the structures of cooperation among Brazilian business graduate programs in four areas: science and technology, strategy, public administration and organization studies, and found that the most productive programs are those with more relationships, and that cooperation between programs is strongly correlated with productivity.
Abstract: The evidence of the growth of cooperation between researchers and graduate programs has increased our understanding of the construction of scientific knowledge as embedded in social networks. This article analyzes the structures of cooperation among Brazilian business graduate programs in four areas: science and technology, strategy, public administration and organization studies. It departs from the assumption that different relational arrangements indicate various forms of organization, with consequences to the way knowledge is produced. Based on the analysis of 2874 articles published between 2000 and 2006, we investigate hypotheses concerning small worlds, preferential attachment, core-periphery and program centrality. The results point out the stratification of programs in terms of both the number of authors and published articles. Furthermore, they evidence that the most productive programs are those with more relationships, and that cooperation between programs is strongly correlated with productivity.

TL;DR: Torularhodin and torulene are two widespread microbial carotenoids with relatively few studies, as compared to other nutraceutical carotENoids such as β-carotene, lycopene and astaxanthin.
Abstract: Torularhodin and torulene are two widespread microbial carotenoids with relatively few studies, as compared to other nutraceutical carotenoids such as β-carotene, lycopene and astaxanthin. Several genera of microorganisms produce it in high concentration (up to 0.1% of the cell dry weight), probably as a protection against photooxidation and free radicals. These pigments, which differ by a terminal carboxylic group, have provitamin-A activity and, being red, have potential use as food and cosmetic color additives. Several factors affect the biosynthesis of these substances, including: the composition of culture media, light irradiation, which may enhance the carotenoid production up to 25% of the non-irradiated cultures, and temperature, which changes the carotenoid balance towards more of the acidic carotenoid (torularhodin) or the hydrocarbon (torulene). The biomass may be directly extracted using non polar solvents such as hexane or a hexane-acetone mixture, without need of cell disruption. Extensive purification is not needed for using the pigments as food or cosmetic additives, but it is still necessary to evaluate the bioactivity of the pigments in humans.
