TL;DR: The criminal law of the enemy as discussed by the authors divides criminals into citizens and enemies, allocating to the latter a criminal policy that lacks individual rights and guarantees that are inherent to every human being.
Abstract: This paper refers to studies on the so-called criminal law of the enemy, which divides criminals into citizens and enemies, allocating to the latter a criminal policy that lacks individual rights and guarantees that are inherent to every human being. The criminal law of the enemy aims at the primary function of criminal law that is directed only to ensure the validity of the rule. Its application in a democratic state becomes incongruous.

TL;DR: At the hospital admission, the long-living elderly appeared to be independent in all of the Functional Independence Measurement domains, and knowing the functional capacity is essential to plan care throughout the entire hospitalization process.
Abstract: The aim of this quantitative cross-sectional study was to assess the functional independence of long-living elderly at the time of hospitalization. The study was conducted in two teaching hospitals, in the period between January and June of 2011, with 116 long-living elderly. The Functional Independence Measure Scale was applied for data collection and data analyses were performed using descriptive statistics. The score of the total Functional Independence Measure varied from 48 to 126, with a mean of 105.9% (±17.9), which represents functional independence. The motor Functional Independence Measurement of 30 to 91 (77.3%; ±14.5) and the social/cognitive Functional Independence Measurement of 18 to 35 (28.6%; ±4.9). At the hospital admission, the long-living elderly appeared to be independent in all of the Functional Independence Measurement domains. Knowing the functional capacity is essential to plan care throughout the entire hospitalization process. DESCRIPTORS: Aged 80 and over. Longevity. Hospitalization. Geriatric nursing.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared jump height and kinetic and kinematic components of countermovement vertical jumps between soccer and basketball players performed in two different arm swing conditions: with arm swing and without arm swing.
Abstract: The aim of this study was to compare jump height and kinetic and kinematic com-ponents of countermovement vertical jumps between soccer and basketball players performed in two different arm swing conditions: with arm swing (WAS) and without arm swing (NAS) Nine basketball players (212 ± 29 years; 10164 ± 1458 kg; 195 ± 006 m) and nine soccer players (182 ± 07 years; 774 ± 758 kg; 181 ± 007 m) performed 12 maximal countermo-vement vertical jumps, including 6 WAS jumps and 6 NAS jumps, on a force platform that recorded the ground reaction force (GRF) The vertical component of the GRF was used to estimate jump height and to calculate the kinematic (duration of eccentric phase, duration of concentric phase, and maximal downward displacement of center of mass) and kinetic variables (mean power during the eccentric phase, mean power during the concentric, peak power, and peak force) The results showed no differences in jump height or in kinematic or kinetic variables between basketball and soccer players In addition, the results showed that the participants of the two groups jumped higher in the WAS condition (041 m) than in the NAS condition (036 m) because of a higher peak power (WAS=2768 W/kg067 and NAS=2413 W/kg067) and a longer concentric phase duration (WAS=020 s/m05 and NAS=019 s/m05) during WAS jump These results indicate that the basketball and soccer players studied here showed similar performance and the same kinematic and kinetic pattern in maximal vertical jumps and were comparably affected by the use of arm swing

TL;DR: In this article, a theoretical multidimensional framework for country brand equity (CBE) is proposed, which is based on the interpretations of two constructs -share of experience and country brand image (share of mind) along with country brand associations, country brand awareness, countrybrand loyalty, country Brand perceived quality, and channel relationships.
Abstract: Country brand equity (CBE) is expanding in theory and in practice; however, little has been published on its conceptualization. By incorporating ‘reputation’ into the place brand equity construct at a country level, we provide a theoretical multidimensional framework for CBE. Seventeen interviews with international researchers were undertaken for theory building. A seven-dimensional CBE framework was developed according to the interpretations of two constructs - country brand reputation (‘share of experience’) and country brand image (‘share of mind’) - along with country brand associations, country brand awareness, country brand loyalty, country brand perceived quality, and channel relationships. We conclude by outlining potential further research avenues and implications for managerial practice. These contributions may guide policymakers, government officials, executives, and scholars in maximizing the value of a place brand (e.g., country, region, or city) by focusing on ‘reputation’ as an added (qualitative and/or quantitative) construct. This study may also inspire insights into joint efforts of public and private strategies and actions on economic performance, consumer welfare, and business decisions for national prosperity.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed how the founders of Alianca Empreendedora (a non-governmental organization) used their relationship network to get resources and legitimacy for the creation of the referred organization.
Abstract: Studies on entrepreneurship are usually fragmented, with several focuses of analysis and different epistemological and ontological foundations However, efforts already exist on the part of some authors in analyzing such phenomenon through a more integrated perspective The objective of the present study is to analyze how the founders of Alianca Empreendedora (a non-governmental organization) used their relationship network to get resources and legitimacy for the creation of the referred organization Three theoretical approaches were adopted: relationship networks, vision based on resources and legitimacy The strategy of case study was adopted and a triangulation of several sources of evidences was made in order to understand the interaction between the relationship networks and the resources, as well as the legitimacy in the process of creation of this social organization Consistency between the theoretical approaches adopted in the study was reached, which has led to the reflection about the necessity of focusing not only the entrepreneur in order to comprehend the creation of new business, but also the context
