TL;DR: The objective of this report was to provide an updated overview of the genes involved in AP pathogenesis, with a focus on the most relevant candidate genes.
Abstract: Genetics is an emerging topic in endodontic research focusing on the host response regarding the pathogenesis of apical periodontitis (AP). A number of genetic epidemiological studies carried out by many investigators worldwide have shown evidence of an association between certain candidate genes and AP. Some studies have been conducted on knockout mice with a deficiency in certain proteins, leading to more or less severe AP, and thus suggesting a pivotal role of these genes in AP pathogenesis. Other research has evaluated the association between genetic polymorphisms in humans with different AP aspects; these studies pointed out that genetic polymorphisms in some candidate genes are involved in inter-individual variations in their response to AP. Therefore, the objective of this report was to provide an updated overview of the genes involved in AP pathogenesis, with a focus on the most relevant candidate genes.

Abstract: Inguinal hernias are a frequent problem and their repair is the most commonly performed procedure by general surgeons. In the last years, new principles, products and techniques have changed the routine of surgeons, who need to recycle knowledge and perfect new skills. In addition, old concepts regarding surgical indication and risk of complications have been reevaluated. In order to create a guideline for the management of inguinal hernias in adult patients, the Brazilian Hernia Society assembled a group of experts to review various topics, such as surgical indication, perioperative management, surgical techniques, complications and postoperative guidance.

TL;DR: It is concluded that leaf anatomy provides new information on the species, with structures common in leaves of Myrtaceae being found along the entire leaf blade.
Abstract: Pimenta pseudocaryophyllus (Gomes) L.R. Landrum is a native species from Brazil and occurs mainly in cerrado, caatinga and Atlantic rainforest vegetation. It is commonly known as "craveiro-do-mato", "louro-cravo" or "cha-de-bugre". It is a tree species whose leaves are used for cooking; they smell and taste like cloves (Syzygium aromaticum). This study describes the leaf anatomy of the species. The leaves were sliced with a microtome, stained with 1% toluidine blue and prepared on slides. The histological sections were from the medium section, between the edge and the midrib of the leaves The lower leaf epidermis has anomocytic stomata complexes and non-glandular coats. The epidermis is unicellular; its cells are covered by a thick cuticle. The mesophyll is dorsiventral. The bicollateral vascular bundles are sheathed. Idioblasts with druses, monocrystals and lisigenous secretory canals were found along the entire leaf blade. We conclude that leaf anatomy provides new information on the species, with structures common in leaves of Myrtaceae.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a tool that facilitates corporate decision making, providing a thorough analysis of the real necessity and feasibility of the implementation of the ISO 14001 standard and its certification.
Abstract: One of the difficulties of the decision making process, is that many entrepreneurs may find themselves incapable of finding enough subsidies for the decision of adopting or not the ISO 14001 standard. This work presents a tool that facilitates corporate decision making, providing a thorough analysis of the real necessity and feasibility of the implementation of the ISO 14001 standard and its certification. This tool consists of a multicriterial analysis, in which is possible to verify the compatibility between the organizational profile and the ISO 14001 standard. This recommendation of adopting or not the ISO 14001 standard seeks to facilitate the organization decision making; and, as a result, it also enhances the probability of the organization attaining its objectives. This tool presented a strong applicability when implemented in two companies.
