TL;DR: In this paper, a compatibility study of orodispersible tablets containing KTP was performed using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry/derivative thermograimimetric (TG/DTG), spectroscopy techniques (DRIFT, DRX, Raman), and morphological analysis by scanning electron microscopy in order to obtain thermal characterization of the drug.
Abstract: The development of orodispersible tablets containing ketoprofen (KTP) offers versatility in administration to patients with swallowing difficulties. The rational development of a medication requires characterization studies for the solid state of the active ingredient and compatibility with excipients to thus ensure a high-quality, safe and effective pharmaceutical form. Therefore, compatibility studies were performed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry/derivative thermogravimetry (TG/DTG), spectroscopy techniques (DRIFT, DRX, Raman), and morphological analysis by scanning electron microscopy in order to obtain thermal characterization of the drug. The DSC curve demonstrated an endothermic, symmetrical and evident fusion event (Tpeak = 96.37 °C, ΔH = −120.92 J g−1) and the TG/DTG curve showed mass loss of Δm = 92.45% relative decomposition. For stability analysis, the non-isothermal kinetic study was carried out. The granulate KTP showed higher Ea = 77.30 ± 0.25 kJ mol−1, hence being more stable than pure KTP (Ea = 54.69 ± 1.53 kJ mol−1). Regarding the compatibility study, a displacement of the drug’s melting point to lower temperatures was observed. However, a more significant interaction was evident with magnesium stearate. Further studies were performed using spectroscopic techniques of DRIFT, Raman, X-ray diffraction and by scanning electron microscopy, which demonstrated that there was no change in physicochemical properties of pure KTP. Therefore, through this study it is possible to produce orodispersible tablets by compression and freeze-drying methods containing ketoprofen.

TL;DR: The results challenge traditional beliefs that only the ratio of professional dentists to inhabitants and the provision of dental services have beneficial effects on the prevention and control of oral health problems.
Abstract: Aim This study aimed to investigate the associations between human development and the demographic ratio of dentists with the prevalence of dental caries at 12 years of age in large Brazilian cities. Materials and methods Data were collected from 27 state capitals, Secondary databases were used: the municipal human development index (MDHI); the ratio of dentists qualified to exercise their profession according to the number of inhabitants; and the decayed, missing or filled teeth index (DMFT). Pearson correlation coefficient analysis and multiple logarithmic regression analysis were performed. Results The MDHI showed a strong correlation with DMFT and explained 48.1% of the variation in the cities. The ratio of dentists to the number of inhabitants displayed an insignificant, weak correlation with the variations in the DMFT. Conclusion Social factors strongly influence the oral health/ disease process in Brazilian capitals, thus actions are needed for the promotion of health at more distal, or structural levels that modify the environment, thus enabling healthier choices for individuals. These results challenge traditional beliefs that only the ratio of professional dentists to inhabitants and the provision of dental services have beneficial effects on the prevention and control of oral health problems. Clinical significance The prevalence of dental caries is strongly correlated with social factors, as the MDHI.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors conducted a survey of the journals in the field of Administration, Accounting and Tourism through inclusion and exclusion criteria in the Sucupira list and verified the presence of 304 Brazilian journals in various indexers.
Abstract: Objective: The insertion of scientific journals into relevance indexers has played a fundamental role for the dissemination of publications by the academic community. However, the implications of this insertion have not been satisfactorily addressed bythe Management, Accounting and Tourism field inBrazil. From a survey with 304 Brazilian journals, the objective of our study is to investigate the indexation scenario of scientific journals in this field. Design/methodology/Approach: From the identification of the main indexers in the literature, we conducted a survey of the journals in the field of Administration, Accounting and Tourism through inclusion and exclusion criteria in the Sucupira list. Then, based on some categories of analysis, we verified the presence of 304 Brazilian journals in the various indexers. Findings: The results reveal that most Brazilian journals achieve low or very low presence in various indexers that are relevant to the academic community. The best quality journals tend to have a higher average of indexers compared to lower quality journals, which shows the relevance of the groupof indexers for the journals quality and dissemination of knowledge. Originality/value: Capes has every evaluation period narrowed the criteria by considering indexing as one of the central requirements for the quality of journals. Therefore, our article brings fundamental contributions to the field of Administration, Accounting and Tourism by demonstrating the implications of the survey conducted for the evaluation policies and the journals’performance in our field. This reflection is timely and extends to other local and heterogeneous scenarios of knowledge dissemination.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed the environmental impacts of the environmental protection area (APA) of Guaratuba, State of Parana, to assess the local traditional communities using two instruments: Geographical Information System (GIS) and Discourse of the Collective Subject (DSC).
Abstract: The present research was carried out in the Environmental Protection Area (APA) of Guaratuba, State of Parana, to analyze the environmental impacts of the APA as assessed by the local traditional communities. Two instruments were used: Geographical Information System (GIS) and Discourse of the Collective Subject (DSC). Although the GIS covers more situations that the DSC, results were similar. The pressures are complex and the analysis must involve the natural and traditional communities.
