TL;DR: In this article, a questionnaire with 68 professores of ensino fundamental was used to evaluate the atitudes do professor quanto a inclusão de portadores de paralisia cerebral (PPC) in escolas.

TL;DR: An algorithm is given that may open the possibility to more detailed studies of inversions on DNA sequences using exact optimization algorithms and it is hoped this may be particularly interesting if applied to regions around known rearrangements boundaries.
Abstract: Alignments of sequences are widely used for biological sequence comparisons. Only biological events like mutations, insertions and deletions are usually modeled and other biological events like inversions are not automatically detected by the usual alignment algorithms. Alignment with inversions does not have a known polynomial algorithm and a simplification to the problem that considers only non-overlapping inversions were proposed by Schoniger and Waterman [20] in 1992 as well as a corresponding O(n6) solution. An improvement to an algorithm with O(n3 logn)-time complexity was announced in an extended abstract [1] and, in this present paper, we give an algorithm that solves this simplified problem in O(n3)-time and O(n2)-space in the more general framework of an edit graph. Inversions have recently [4,7,13,17] been discovered to be very important in Comparative Genomics and Scherer et al. in 2005 [11] experimentally verified inversions that were found to be polymorphic in the human genome. Moreover, 10% of the 1,576 putative inversions reported overlap RefSeq genes in the human genome. We believe our new algorithms may open the possibility to more detailed studies of inversions on DNA sequences using exact optimization algorithms and we hope this may be particularly interesting if applied to regions around known rearrangements boundaries. Scherer report 29 such cases and prioritize them as candidates for biological and evolutionary studies.

TL;DR: This work presents a parallel algorithm for the ALCS problem on the Coarse-Grained Multicomputer (BSP/CGM) model with p < √na processors, that takes O(na nb/p) time, O(log p) communication rounds and O(nb√na) space per processor, and solves the basic Longest Common Subsequence (LCS) problem.
Abstract: Given two strings A and B of lengths na and nb, respectively, the All-substrings Longest Common Subsequence (ALCS) problem obtains, for any substring B' of B, the length of the longest string that is a subsequence of both A and B'. The sequential algorithm for this problem takes O(na nb) time and O(nb) space. We present a parallel algorithm for the ALCS problem on the Coarse-Grained Multicomputer (BSP/CGM) model with p < √na processors, that takes O(na nb/p) time, O(log p) communication rounds and O(nb √na) space per processor. The proposed algorithm also solves the basic Longest Common Subsequence (LCS) problem that finds the longest string (and not only its length) that is a subsequence of both A and B. To our knowledge, this is the best BSP/CGM algorithm in the literature for the LCS and ALCS problems.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe old-aged people's opinion about Internet and find that 40% of them consider that Internet helps communication, 25% find it improves knowledge and 10% point out the facilities (χ2o= 1,38, χ2c= 3,84).
Abstract: With the growth of life expectation rate in Brazil, old-aged people became more active in society, making new projects and being more up-to-date in all technology changes. The Internet also call the attention of old-aged people who want to be more up-to-date and have great interest in learning how to use it. The research has the purpose of describing old-aged people’s opinion about Internet. In this research there was the participation of 32 volunteers, between 68,8 +/6,9 years old, being 65,6% female and 34,4% male, who usually go to Cultural Public Institutions in São Paulo. All data were collected through a questionnaire, containing classified and nonclassified questions. Results showed that 40% of old-aged people consider that Internet helps communication, 25% find it improves knowledge and 10% point out the facilities (χ2o= 1,38, χ2c= 3,84); about difficulties, 53,1% of them don’t have difficulties, 15,6% have some difficulty in using computers and 9,4% reported that health issues that are responsible for obstructing the use of this machine (χ2o= 6,54 , χ2c=3,84). In conclusion, old-aged people consider Internet a positive tool and this research revealed that, although they have resistance to use computers, there is a real interest in learning how to use this kind of technology.

TL;DR: A BSP/CGM algorithm is presented that uses p processors and takes O (|A|/p) time and O ( |A| /p) space per processor and achieves linear speed-up and is highly scalable.
Abstract: Given a sequence A of real numbers, we wish to find a list of all non-overlapping contiguous subsequences of A that are maximal. A maximal subsequence M of A has the property that no proper subsequence of M has a greater sum of values. Furthermore, M may not be contained properly within any subsequence of A with this property. This problem can be solved sequentially in linear time. We present a BSP/CGM algorithm that uses p processors and takes O (|A|/p) time and O (|A|/p) space per processor. The algorithm uses a constant number of communication rounds of size at most O (|A|/p). Thus the algorithm achieves linear speed-up and is highly scalable.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of the supporter and of the media on adolescent athletes, in sporting moments, demand a select revision among subjects in constant effervescence, in the Sociology, Philosophy and Psychology of the sport.
Abstract: To study, to understand and to analyze the effects of the supporter and of the media on adolescent athletes, in sporting moments, demand a select revision among subjects in constant effervescence, in the Sociology, Philosophy and Psychology of the Sport. This way, the direction option was for we discuss the Adolescence, the Anxiety and the Aggressiveness theoretically and, later, the supporter, to the light of the Sporting Psychology, leaving then for the analyses of the speeches picked in the field research. High published indexes, now, for the Brazilian press, about the violence and aggressiveness in the stadiums, involving adolescents besides, they turn necessary the research of the sport practiced by youths, as well as the forms of manifestation of the aggressiveness and anxiety presented in the sporting competitions, so much for the players as for the fans, in an explicit situation of cause - effect. Understanding that these external psychological influences can come to be responsible for other and more serious compromising of the mental health, besides the social maladjustments, our research, of the participant type, used of interview and questionnaires, with close to 500 young athletes, classifying the collected answers and analyzing - the to the light of that that of more modern we have in Sporting Psychology. Developing data of larger need of attention with the adolescents' sporting practice, as well as a better interaction parents - technicians are here answers to the initial questions. Objectively, this research sends to a larger reflection about the need of treating the Sport Psychology as one of the sciences of the sport of the highest intervention possibility, with the support and the complexity of interactions for her made possible. Such perceptions were us last due to the possibilities of the professionals' of the Physical education direct performance, Sport, parents and educators that have direct contact with a school or competitive sporting practice, as we verified, in elapsing of the collection of data.

TL;DR: In this paper, an integration between both, kaizen and ABC (Activity-Based Costing) systems, in order to reinforce and strengthen both of the systems, once they are extremely important for the management of current costs.
Abstract: kaizen is a tool addressed to the reduction of costs and continuous improvement of the production and administrative processes, by using the strategy based on time, taking into account market demands, and producing the amounts according to the demands of that market, thus trying to regulate the speed of processes known as ‘Takt Time’ - the cycle time. kaizen measures and separates the activities that aggregate and do not aggregate value to the product, segregating the production functions by activities, which are defined in agreement with a system of dry processes, following a single production flow. The aim of the present paper is to promote an integration between both, kaizen and ABC (Activity-Based Costing) systems, in order to reinforce and strengthen both of the systems, once they are extremely important for the management of current costs. The integration of the two systems will be made with a practical application of kaizen to the maintenance of ABC - the latter being considered as an accounting system, measuring the managerial costs, through the analysis of Siemens case in whose processes kaizen methodology was adopted. Instead of providing support to the administration process (planning, execution and control) as a whole, ABC emphasized the economical aspects (measuring), while kaizen is focused on physical and operational aspects.

TL;DR: In this paper, the reproductibility and minimum detection limit of a thermoluminescent dosimeter were evaluated for a dosimeter produced at IPEN, where repeated exposure to the same radiation field was considered.
Abstract: Measurement response of thermoluminescent dosimeter, TLD, used by workers or placed at positions where gamma radiation field could be in action affecting biological tissues, should be completely characterized, in order to achieve the radiation quantity with precision and confidence. Among the evaluations concerned to its characterization, the detector reproductibility is of fundamental importance, because detectors present inside the TLD will be used many times in routine. Reproductibility is studied by repeated exposure to the same radiation field. The minimum detection limit is another important characteristics of a TLD. In this work evaluations of reproductibility and minimum detection are presented, for dosimeters produced at IPEN.

TL;DR: In this article, the procedure for dose evaluation in an apparatus for beta irradiation of samples, usually biological ones, is presented, making use of calibration curves, obtained by irradiation in advance of thermoluminescent detectors in air, and so irradiating them in the same position of the sample.
Abstract: Irradiation of samples in peculiar experimental apparatus, subject to radiation spread, requires a special evaluation of absorbed dose implanted to the sample. Indirect calibration of the irradiation source, obtained in a different apparatus, and the spread, usually of very difficult theoretical evaluation, can cause very serious measurement errors, sometimes reaching 50%. In this work, the procedure for dose evaluation in an apparatus for beta irradiation of samples, usually biological ones,is presented, making use of calibration curves, obtained by irradiation in advance of thermoluminescent detectors in air, and so irradiating them in the same position of the sample. An application in blood sample irradiation is also presented.

TL;DR: A method to elicit the QoS parameters aiming the establishment of the SLA (Service Level Agreement) between the service providers and final users to the mobile and interactive services inside to a technological convergence environment is proposed.
Abstract: We are living in a society of information, where the users wish more in getting, supplying, sharing and interacting through information and services anywhere, any time with any device. Then some items should be assured such as: mobility and interactivity, on an environment where the technological convergence takes place and, of course, the End-to-End QoS is assured. One of the biggest challenges is to assure the End-to-End QoS to the multimedia interactive services delivery to the moving users, that usually are the most QoS standing top, because they have, besides the well known computer network parameters, specific ones required by the audio and video user's perception and by the need of synchronization between data, video and sound. The aim for this paper is to propose a method to elicit the QoS parameters aiming the establishment of the SLA (Service Level Agreement) between the service providers and final users to the mobile and interactive services inside to a technological convergence environment. This method consists in the service identification to be offered to the final user, elaborating a tree graph, that is used to identify other services, which could be compound it. Mapping the QoS parameters in a methamodel, and finally validating it, after that it is possible to extract from the methamodel the QoS parameters to be set in the SLA. This work suggests a first step to solve the lack of standardized methods to the SLA establishment applied to mobile and interactive multimedia services under the point of view to the final users.
