TL;DR: A new proposal, Normality Logic (NL), is outlined for expanding the expressive power of UL and appears to offer a simpler solution to the problem of expressive power than the sorting strategy of Carnielli and Veloso.
Abstract: The paper presents the main ideas of Ultrafilter Logic (UL), as introduced by Veloso and others. A new proposal, Normality Logic (NL), is outlined for expanding the expressive power of UL. The system NL appears to offer a simpler solution to the problem of expressive power than the sorting strategy of Carnielli and Veloso. Interpretations of NL are discussed and an important point of contact to Hansson's notion of non-prioritized belief revision is observed.

08 Apr 2021TL;DR: In this paper, a gamified training was developed, aiming at providing fast and accessible training in digital methods and languages for teachers nationwide, and the focus of the present work was to expose, from the point of view of education professionals, the evaluation of the created tool.
Abstract: In addition to the contemporary challenges related to student motivation and the adaptation of methodologies and strategies to the digital world, the recent pandemic of COVID-19 and its consequent social isolation brought new implications to education: the impossibility of face-to-face classes highlighted the need to rethink distance learning and digital teaching techniques. Within this context, a gamified training was developed, aiming at providing fast and accessible training in digital methods and languages for teachers nationwide. The focus of the present work was to expose, from the point of view of education professionals, the evaluation of the created tool. The data obtained from this research demonstrated a rate of retention of participants that is around twice the national average for distance learning in general. Additionally, the analysis of feedback from participants who concluded the training
indicates a strong preference for gamified training over traditional online training, mainly due to factors such as entertainment, interactivity and innovation in learning techniques.

01 Jan 2005TL;DR: This chapter presents aspects involved in each stage of this life cycle of ERP systems, based on the referenced bibliography, and encompasses the stages of decision, selection, implementation, stabilization and utilization.
Abstract: The 90’s witnessed an impressive growth of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems in the market of corporate IT solutions. For instance, O ́Leary (2000) reports that a single ERP system (SAP ́s R/3) is used by more than 60% of the multinational firms. Among the explanations for this phenomenon are the competitive pressures suffered by the companies that have forced them to seek alternatives for cost reduction, differentiation of products and services and integration of their business processes. The ERP systems evolved exploiting the need for quick deployment of integrated systems to meet these new business requirements, while companies were (and still are) under pressure to outsource all the activities that are not embraced by their core business. The ERP systems are introduced in companies following some well-defined stages. In this context, their life cycle encompasses the stages of decision, selection, implementation, stabilization and utilization. This chapter presents aspects involved in each stage of this life cycle, based on the referenced bibliography.
