Alignment of Organizational Competence for Sustainability With Dimensions of the Triple Bottom Line

Abstract: This chapter aims to describe how the alignment of organizational competencies with the dimensions of the triple bottom line (TBL) in companies of the Brazilian chemical sector are integrated in the business strategy. This study used a methodological approach to qualitative research, the multiple case study strategy, covering three major producing companies in the Brazilian chemical industry: Braskem, Solvay, and Beta (fictitious name). As regards the scale interactions of organizational competence between the environmental pillars, economic, and social TBL, the analysis was done taking as a basis the properties of eco-efficiency, environmental justice, and social justice. Besides the three skills characterized by TBL interaction model for sustainable development, the competence of eco-innovation was evident, with the internal factors that influence: strategic dimension of eco-innovation, collaboration networks, support of management leadership and top management.

Atividades de aventura na licenciatura em educação física: um relato de experiência

Abstract: O objetivo desse estudo foi relatar uma experiencia pedagogica com a disciplina Atividades de Aventura em um curso de Licenciatura em Educacao Fisica (EF). As estrategias didaticas utilizadas nas aulas foram vivencias das modalidades radicais, discussoes e pesquisas sobre a insercao dessa manifestacao da cultura corporal nas aulas de Educacao Fisica Escolar (EFE). Ao final da disciplina, observou-se que muitos discentes puderam debater, refletir e compreender de forma critica como ensinar as atividades de aventura nas aulas de EF na escola. Concluimos que so foi possivel obter uma pratica pedagogica bem sucedida na formacao do licenciado em EF por conta da identidade propria do curso para possibilitar uma preparacao especifica para futuros profissionais que irao atuar na Educacao Basica.

Determinação de Paraquate em maçãs do tipo Gala, Fuji, Argentina e Verde

Abstract: Introduction: Brazil is one of the world leaders in consumption of agrochemicals, generating billions of reais/year and this fact is increasing. The herbicide Paraquat has a highly hydrophilic molecule and it is used in the control of weeds in many types of plantations. Objective: To determine the presence and content of Paraquat in apples using the following types from the national market: Gala, Fuji, Argentina and Verde, with or without peel and to analyze the residual Paraquat content according to the Brazilian and European legislation. Method: An adapted methodology (UV/VIS spectrophotometer) was used in apples’ types with or without peel. Results: Considering the studied types of apples, although Paraquat was present in all of them, only the Verde and Gala types would be approved by European regulations. Argentina type would be approved only by the limits stated by Anvisa and Fuji type would not be approved by none of the regulations. Conclusions: There is a need for constant inspection by analyzing the content of pesticides in food as well as legislation that establishes mandatory information about the type of agrochemical used and the corresponding residual limit allowed.
