Evaluación de la dinapenia em adultos mayores de São Caetano do Sul, São Paulo, Brasil

Abstract: Abstract Introduction: Aging is characterized by psychological, social, nutritional and biological changes, among which dynapenia stands out. Objective: To analyze the presence of dynapenia and associated factors in elderly people living in the city of São Caetano do Sul. Method: A cross-sectional study was carried out with 295 elderly individuals aged 60 years or older, who were users of public health units in the city of São Caetano do Sul. Dynapenia was assessed by handgrip strength, and its associations were investigated using multivariate logistic regression, according to sociodemographic variables, nutritional status, protein consumption, presence of diseases, and physical activity. Statistical analysis was performed using the IBM-SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) software. The adopted level of significance was p < 0.05. Results: Most of the participants were female (n = 251), with mean age of 70.6 years (± 7.0). The presence of dynapenia was observed in 24.07% (n = 71), among which 47 were women (18.73%) and 24 were men (54.55%). Observed associations concerned older age, male sex, lower circumference of the arm and calf, and lower triceps skinfold (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Approximately one-fourth of the elderly studied presented dynapenia, which represents a higher risk of morbidity and mortality. The inclusion of PPF alongside other anthropometric measures for assessing nutritional status is recommended. It is important for public policies to be directed towards health promotion and risk prevention in this age group.

Psychometric properties of the Burnout Inventory for Referees (BIR) for Brazilian Basketball Referees

Abstract: The main goal of this paper was to verify the psychometric properties of the Burnout Inventory for Referees on Brazilian basketball referees (BIR-AB). A total of 395 basketball referees were evaluated (age: 35.11 ± 9.18 years), of both gender (male = 319 and female = 76), with an average experience time of 12.34 ± 7.83 years, who answered demographic identification questionnaires, Burnout Inventory for Brazilian Basketball Referees (BIR-AB) and Brunel Mood Scale for Basketball Referees (BRUMS-AB). Factor validity was estimated using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) with the Maximum Likelihood estimation method. As homoscedasticity was rejected, the comparison between groups was performed using ANOVA with Welch's correction followed by the Games-Howell post-test. The correlation between the scores of the BIR-AB factors and the variables age and length of experience was assessed using Pearson's Correlation Analysis (r). The level of significance adopted was 5%. After the performance of the CFA and insertion of the second-order hierarchical model (MHSO), a new model was proposed, called BIR-AB, containing two negative dimensions (physical and emotional exhaustion and depersonalization) and a positive (sport performance), with adequate adjustment indexes, acceptable and invariant reliability between the gender and in the test/validation sample and the divergent validity was attested.

A produção de documentários nas aulas de educação física escolar: a utilização de tecnologias para a ampliação do pensamento crítico de alunos e alunas no ensino médio

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze a pedagogical experience, carried out with high school students. During Physical Education classes, they analyzed socio-cultural aspects related to sports and constructed documentaries on different subjects: religion, racism, sexism, homophobia, socioeconomic inequality, doping, media, health, talent selection, as well as the Olympic Games and World Cup in Brazil. The students were encouraged to produce knowledge about the topics discussed in class; critically analyze the media and sport; perceive themselves as a producer of the media. When we discuss the documentaries produced, we identified that many students began to look more critically at the issues surrounding sports. The dialogue between school and university allowed to approach these two contexts and to conclude that the use of the media in the classes can favor the participation of the students of the High School, making the learning significant.

Recent results for the brazilian two-pion exchange nucleon-nucleon potential

Abstract: We have recently performed a relativistic O(q4) chiral expansion of the two-pion exchange NN potential, and explored its configuration space content by fitting the theoretical expressions to parametrized simply formulas. In order to test the applicability of our parametrized potential, we studied the pion plus production in proton-neutron scattering at threshold an compare our results to the ones given by Reid 93 and v18 potentials. We shown that our results are very close to the v18 potential, which means that the potential is reliable and trustful.
