TL;DR: Elderly people, regardless of being fallers, did not differ in the performance of the postural balance tests, nor in terms of the presence or absence of fear of falling, in the same variables studied.
Abstract: Aging is associated with the decline of physiological functions. In this process, the human skeleton is especially affected by time: bone loss begins as early as the third decade of life. Performance in postural balance tests was evaluated in elderly women who were fallers and non-fallers with low bone mineral density and, secondarily, those afraid of falling had lower performance in balance tests. Sixty-two elderly women aged ≥ 60 years were evaluated, divided into two groups: fallers and non-fallers. The volunteers were evaluated using two postural balance tests: the miniBESTest (test with 14 tasks that assesses balance according to postural responses to external disturbances and verticality); and the NeuroCom Balance Master force platform, in the protocols of the Going Up and Going Down Steps and Sit and Stand Tests. There were no differences in the miniBESTest or in the NeuroCom Balance Master tests between groups. In addition, there were no differences between elderly women with and without fear of falls, in the same variables studied. Elderly people, regardless of being fallers, did not differ in the performance of the postural balance tests, nor in terms of the presence or absence of fear of falling. Keywords : Elderly; Osteoporosis; Falls; Postural balance.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors made an analysis inside the public schools, aiming to verify if the pedagogical practices developed by the Physical Education teachers propitiated problem- situations and if their interventions were adequate to provide active participation of the students.
Abstract: Through a field survey, with qualitative approach, it was made an analysis, inside the public schools, aiming to verify if the pedagogical practices developed by the Physical Education teachers propitiated problem – situations and if their interventions were adequate to provide active participation of the students. It was reached a conclusion that, although the performed activities had benefited the presence of problem – situation, many of them were naturally present in the activities, and it was not the pedagogical practice responsible to generate this situation. It was realized, then, that, beyond providing problem – situations, there is the need of the teachers to be constantly aware to the behavior of the students to interfere in the suitable time and space.

TL;DR: This article reports continuous improvement actions implemented to improve the mechanical performance of orthodontic screws with a gain of up to 54% in flstrength of screw models analyzed.
Abstract: Orthodontic screws are used to move teeth in several directions during orthodontic dental treatment. The forces involved during insertion and during the service of the orthodontic screws deserve special attention because they can lead to fracture of the same leading to treatment failure. Loads supported by orthodontic screws can be divided into insertion loads and activation loads. Among these two groups insertion loads are the most signifi cant and should be taken into consideration for the product design. This paper is about optimization of the mechanical strength of orthodontic screws with regard to the efforts that they are subjected during the surgical insertion. This article reports continuous improvement actions implemented to improve the mechanical performance of orthodontic screws. The design modifi cations proposed allowed a gain of up to 54% in flstrength of screw models analyzed.
