TL;DR: In this paper, an analysis of intervencoes urbanisticas comandadas pelo poder publico no Complexo Paraisopolis, entre 2001 e 2016, durante as gestoes of Marta Suplicy (2001-2004), Jose Serra (2005-2006), Gilberto Kassab (2006-2012) and Fernando Haddad (2013-2016) in the Prefeitura de Sao Paulo.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the radiation effects on TL and EPR properties and their application for dating in natural crystals of phenakite and found that TL peaks at 120, 180, 290 and 440°C were observed, with one TL emission band around 400nm.
Abstract: Natural crystals of phenakite were investigated concerning the radiation effects on TL and EPR properties and their application for dating. TL peaks at 120, 180, 290 and 440 °C were observed, with one TL emission band around 400 nm. Activation energies and frequency factors obtained by the technique of varying the heating rate indicate lifetimes of 202 × 103 and 714 × 109 years (at 15 °C) of for 290 and 440 °C peaks, respectively. The additive method applied to these two peaks yielded accumulated dose Dac of (1.12 ± 0.09) and (1.39 ± 0.14) kGy. EPR signals of [PO4/e]0 and [SiO4/h]+ centers were observed. The intensity of these centers increase with γ-radiation and the additive method for these EPR centers yielded Dac of (0.27 ± 0.01) and (0.91 ± 0.06) kGy, respectively. Using U, Th and K contents plus the cosmic-ray contribution, a dose rate of 1.52 mGy/year has been obtained. The final ages and stability of these TL and EPR centers under exposure to UV light are discussed.

TL;DR: It is revealed that ovariectomy as well as exercise training were not able to induce histopathological changes in mouse aorta for all groups investigated, consistent with the notion that exercise training is able to modulate COX-2 expression in LDL-KO mice as a result of COx-2 down-regulation.
Abstract: Estrogen deprivation in postmenopausal women increases cardiovascular risk. Cardiovascular risk as a result of atherosclerosis is able to induce an inflammatory disease as far as cyclooxygenase-2 ( COX-2) expression. The purpose of the study was to investigate the role of COX-2 on exercise training in female mice low-density lipoprotein receptor knockout ( LDL-KO) with or without ovariectomy. A total of 15 female C57BL/6 mice and 15 female LDL-KO mice were distributed into 6 groups: sedentary control, sedentary control ovariectomized, trained control ovariectomized, LDL-KO sedentary, LDL-KO sedentary ovariectomized and LDL-KO trained ovariectomized. The ascending part of the aorta was stained with H&E and COX-2 expression was assessed by immunohistochemistry. Results revealed that ovariectomy as well as exercise training were not able to induce histopathological changes in mouse aorta for all groups investigated. LDL-KO mice demonstrated plaque containing cholesterol clefts, foamy histiocytes and mild inflammatory process for all groups indistinctly. Ovariectomy induced a strong immunoexpression in atherosclerosis lesion of LDL-KO mice. Nevertheless, a down-regulation of COX-2 expression was detected in LDL-KO trained ovariectomized when compared to LDL-KO sedentary. Our results are consistent with the notion that exercise training is able to modulate COX-2 expression in LDL-KO mice as a result of COX-2 down-regulation.

TL;DR: ET in rats effectively prevented metabolic abnormalities and AP and IOP increases promoted by a high-fructose diet, and ocular benefits triggered by exercise training were associated with peripheral autonomic improvement.
Abstract: The present study aimed to study the effects of exercise training (ET) performed by rats on a 10-week high-fructose diet on metabolic, hemodynamic, and autonomic changes, as well as intraocular pressure (IOP). Male Wistar rats receiving fructose overload in drinking water (100 g/L) were concomitantly trained on a treadmill for 10 weeks (FT group) or kept sedentary (F group), and a control group (C) was kept in normal laboratory conditions. The metabolic evaluation comprised the Lee index, glycemia, and insulin tolerance test (KITT). Arterial pressure (AP) was measured directly, and systolic AP variability was performed to determine peripheral autonomic modulation. ET attenuated impaired metabolic parameters, AP, IOP, and ocular perfusion pressure (OPP) induced by fructose overload (FT vs F). The increase in peripheral sympathetic modulation in F rats, demonstrated by systolic AP variance and low frequency (LF) band (F: 37±2, 6.6±0.3 vs C: 26±3, 3.6±0.5 mmHg2), was prevented by ET (FT: 29±3, 3.4±0.7 mmHg2). Positive correlations were found between the LF band and right IOP (r=0.57, P=0.01) and left IOP (r=0.64, P=0.003). Negative correlations were noted between KITT values and right IOP (r=-0.55, P=0.01) and left IOP (r=-0.62, P=0.005). ET in rats effectively prevented metabolic abnormalities and AP and IOP increases promoted by a high-fructose diet. In addition, ocular benefits triggered by exercise training were associated with peripheral autonomic improvement.
