TL;DR: In most countries, breakfast was rich in carbohydrates, added sugars, saturated fat and calcium relative to the entire day, and the energy contribution of protein and fats was lower at breakfast than for the entireday.
Abstract: The aim of this study was to provide updated data on breakfast consumption, associated factors and its contribution to daily intakes among Latin American populations. A total of 9218 subjects, 15 to 65 years old, were evaluated in the ELANS study, a multicenter cross-sectional study conducted in eight Latin American countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela). Dietary data were obtained by two 24 h dietary recalls. Overall, 78.6% of the population were regular breakfast consumer, 15.9% occasional and 5.5% skippers. Adolescents were found to be the most frequent occasional consumers (19.2%) and skippers (6.8%). Among breakfast consumers (n = 8714), breakfast contributed to 444 ± 257 kcal, i.e., 23% of the total daily EI (16-27%). Breakfast consumers were more likely to be older adults than adolescents (OR = 1.49, 95% CI:1.06-2.10) and physically active than insufficiently active (OR = 1.29, 95% CI:1.07-1.55), and were less likely to be underweight than normal weight (OR = 0.63, 95% CI:0.41-0.98). In most countries, breakfast was rich in carbohydrates, added sugars, saturated fat and calcium relative to the entire day, and the energy contribution of protein and fats was lower at breakfast than for the entire day. These findings will contribute to the development of data-driven nutrient recommendations for breakfast in Latin America.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated how physical education classes are organized in the initial stages of elementary school in municipal public schools in Santo Andre, Great ABC Region, Sao Paulo State.
Abstract: This research aimed to verify how Physical Education classes are organized in the initial stages of Elementary School in municipal public schools in Santo Andre, Great ABC Region, Sao Paulo State. Only 10 out of 44 schools in the public network had a teacher of Physical Education while the responsible for these classes in the remaining schools are polyvalent teachers. To understand how these classes are carried out, questionnaires were sent out to polyvalent teachers in the 44 schools. Data were interpreted using Bardin´s Content Analysis (2007) approach. As result, blame can be put on both the Educational System and polyvalent teachers not specialized in Physical Education who don´t search for alternatives to improve their classes. In conclusion, hiring Physical Education teachers truly engaged with their students could minimize these questions.

TL;DR: There was a relationship between the parasympathetic modulation of HRV and the Vigor, which is good for the performance, according to the main results.
Abstract: The main purpose of this study was to check any relationship between mood states heart rate, variability (HRV) and creatine kinase (CK) of Brazilian para-athletes. Were evaluated 12 athletes, members of the Brazilian Team of Para-Athletics. In order to evaluate the autonomic response the HRV of athletes was determined at rest, by collecting the R-R intervals within 10 min. It was also collected blood samples to analyze the total CK, and the Brums scale was applied to know the mood states of the athletes, being calculated the six mood states (tension, depression, anger, fatigue, confusion and vigor). Analysis of the data was performed by Spearman correlation. The main results indicated a relationship between the parasympathetic modulation and the Vigor of the athletes (r = 0.50 to 0.53; p<0.05). The CK was not related with any marker. In conclusion: There was a relationship between the parasympathetic modulation of HRV and the Vigor, which is good for the performance.
