TL;DR: Administration of aspirin before surgery and throughout the early postsurgical period had no significant effect on the rate of a composite of death or nonfatal myocardial infarction but increased the risk of major bleeding.
Abstract: The primary outcome occurred in 351 of 4998 patients (7.0%) in the aspirin group and in 355 of 5012 patients (7.1%) in the placebo group (hazard ratio in the aspirin group, 0.99; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.86 to 1.15; P = 0.92). Major bleeding was more common in the aspirin group than in the placebo group (230 patients [4.6%] vs. 188 patients [3.8%]; hazard ratio, 1.23; 95% CI, 1.01, to 1.49; P = 0.04). The primary and secondary outcome results were similar in the two aspirin strata. Conclusions Administration of aspirin before surgery and throughout the early postsurgical period had no significant effect on the rate of a composite of death or nonfatal myocardial infarction but increased the risk of major bleeding. TL;DR: It is shown that mice fed lard for 11 weeks have increased Toll-like receptor activation and WAT inflammation and reduced insulin sensitivity compared with mice fed fish oil and that phenotypic differences between the dietary groups can be partly attributed to differences in microbiota composition.

TL;DR: The negative ion mode was a powerful complementary tool of the positive ion mode for the structural characterization of flavonoid aglycones by ESI-MS/MS, and several structurally informative anions appeared highly specific of thenegative ion mode.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented the vulnerability assessment of the ATEAM land use scenarios, which can help answer multidisciplinary questions such as: which are the main regions or sectors that are vulnerable to global change? How do the vulnerabilities of two regions compare? Which scenario is the least, or most, harmful for a given region or sector?

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors review the fascinating opportunities offered by the rapid advances in atomic force microscopy (AFM) and highlight the potential of AFM for medical diagnostics and environmental monitoring.
Abstract: With its ability to observe, manipulate and explore the functional components of the biological cell at subnanometre resolution, atomic force microscopy (AFM) has produced a wealth of new opportunities in nanobiotechnology. Evolving from an imaging technique to a multifunctional 'lab-on-a-tip', AFM-based force spectroscopy is increasingly used to study the mechanisms of molecular recognition and protein folding, and to probe the local elasticity, chemical groups and dynamics of receptor-ligand interactions in live cells. AFM cantilever arrays allow the detection of bioanalytes with picomolar sensitivity, opening new avenues for medical diagnostics and environmental monitoring. Here we review the fascinating opportunities offered by the rapid advances in AFM.
