TL;DR: In this article, a system that gives a mobile robot the ability to separate simultaneous sound sources is proposed, where a microphone array is used along with a real-time dedicated implementation of geometric source separation and a post-filter that gives us a further reduction of interferences from other sources.
Abstract: We propose a system that gives a mobile robot the ability to separate simultaneous sound sources. A microphone array is used along with a real-time dedicated implementation of geometric source separation and a post-filter that gives us a further reduction of interferences from other sources. We present results and comparisons for separation of multiple non-stationary speech sources combined with noise sources. The main advantage of our approach for mobile robots resides in the fact that both the frequency domain geometric source separation algorithm and the post-filter are able to adapt rapidly to new sources and non-stationarity. Separation results are presented for three simultaneous interfering speakers in the presence of noise. A reduction of log spectral distortion (LSD) and increase of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of approximately 10 dB and 14 dB are observed.

TL;DR: The normal function of PrP as an antioxidant and an antiapoptotic protein in vivo and in vitro is reviewed and the implication of the neuroprotective role of Prp in prion diseases is discussed.
Abstract: Prion protein can display two conformations: a normal cellular conformation (PrP) and a pathological conformation associated with prion diseases (PrPSc). Three complementary strategies are used by researchers investigating how PrP is involved in the pathogenesis of prion diseases: elucidation of the normal function of PrP, determination of how PrPSc is toxic to neurons, and unraveling the mechanism for the conversion of PrP to PrPSc. We review the normal function of PrP as an antioxidant and an antiapoptotic protein in vivo and in vitro. This review also addresses contrasting evidence that PrP is cytotoxic. Finally, we discuss the implication of the neuroprotective role of PrP in prion diseases.

TL;DR: In this article, the viscosities of most alkali and tetraalkylammonium halides have been measured in water at 25°C and the relative viscosity can be fitted, up to 1M, with the relationηr=1+Aηc1/2+Bη c+Dη2.
Abstract: The viscosities of most alkali and tetraalkylammonium halides have been measured in water at 25°C. The relative viscosities can be fitted, up to 1M, with the relationηr=1+Aηc1/2+Bηc+Dη2. TheAη term depends on long-range coulombic forces, andBη is a function of the size and hydration of the solute. When combined with partial-molal-volume data, the difference Bη−0.0025V° is mostly a measure of the solute-solvent interactions. IonicBη are obtained if the tetraethylammonium ion is assumed to obey Einstein's law. TheDη parameter depends on higher terms of the long-range coulombic forces, on higher terms of the hydrodynamic effect, and on structural solute-solute interactions. As such, it cannot be interpreted unambiguously.
