TL;DR: In this paper, the essential nature of the systems approach to the hydrologic cycle is reviewed and the types of problems involved are classified, and the main types of solutions proposed for the analysis and synthesis of lumped deterministic systems are then briefly reviewed.

Abstract: SPECIMENS of the salmon (Salmo salar)–sea trout (S. trutta) which were developed by Dr D. J. Piggins of the Salmon Research Trust were obtained from a small lake at Galmoylestown, near Mullingar, County West-meath. The eye lens, muscle and serum proteins and haemoglobins of these F2 2 yr old (2+) specimens were compared with those of adult salmon from the River Lee, County Cork, and with those of 2+ specimens of brown trout (S. trutta) from the Fanure Fish Farm, Roscrea, County Tipperary.

TL;DR: The results of Mossbauer effect studies of several 1:1 chelates of europium are presented and discussed in this paper, where the large resonant effects observed at room temperature are interpreted in terms of the high frequency internal vibrations of the complex molecules.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used laser and microwave interferometers to measure electron densities over the range 18 × 1015 to 8 × 1011 cm-3 in a decaying helium plasma without a confining magnetic field, at gas pressures ranging from 82 to 1200 mtorr.
Abstract: Laser and microwave interferometers have been used to measure electron densities over the range 18 × 1015 to 8 × 1011 cm-3 in a decaying helium plasma without a confining magnetic field, at gas pressures ranging from 82 to 1200 mtorr. Collisional radiative recombination and ambipolar diffusion were identified as the electron-loss mechanisms, with the former dominating at the highest pressures and densities. Spectroscopic measurements of electron temperature were in good accord with the recombination coefficients α inferred from theory, but the actual trend of α with density suggested the existence of elevated atom and ion temperatures. The loss of recombination energy from the plasma was mainly due to radiation and atom thermal conduction, but the electron-atom energy coupling in helium was sufficient to permit the latter mechanism only at the highest electron densities. The assumption of elevated ion temperatures also led to good agreement between the theoretical and experimental diffusion coefficients.

TL;DR: An anomalous variation with temperature of the isomer shift in Eu 2 O 3 has been found in this paper, interpreted in terms of the passage of the oxide through order-disorder phases or pseudophases.

TL;DR: An outbreak of trichinosis involving at least 26 people in Cork in 1967 is described and thiabendazole is a possible preventive and curative drug in the disease.
Abstract: An outbreak of trichinosis involving at least 26 people in Cork in 1967 is described. One death possibly due to the disease is reported. It was not possible to trace the source back to any particular bacon factory. The vehicle was almost certainly sausages and /or a pork product consisting of sausage meat and scraps of raw pork. There was a preponderance of female cases. The bentonite flocculation test and latex agglutination test are useful diagnostic adjuncts. Thiabendazole is a possible preventive and curative drug in the disease.

TL;DR: The incidence of urinary tract infection in 2,206 patients admitted to a medical unit during a 24 month period was found to be 5%, and was much more common in women aged over 50 than in any other group.
Abstract: The incidence of urinary tract infection in 2,206 patients admitted to a medical unit during a 24 month period was found to be 5%. It was much more common in women aged over 50 than in any other group. In men it was found chiefly when an obstructive lesion was present, or when the patient had been catheterised.

TL;DR: In this article, a new technique of monitoring the resonance spectrum of a the plasma column irradiated by variable frequency microwave energy is described, and a simultaneous comparison with the conventional variable current-fixed frequency method showed clearly that parameters such as current modulation amplitude, frequency and the choice of increasing or decreasing sections of the current modulation cycle may have a significant effect on locating the resonances.
Abstract: A new technique of monitoring the resonance spectrum of a the plasma column irradiated by variable frequency microwave energy is described. A simultaneous comparison with the conventional variable current-fixed frequency method showed clearly that parameters such as current modulation amplitude, frequency and, in particular, the choice of increasing or decreasing sections of the current modulation cycle may have a significant effect on locating the resonances. Results are presented for argon, krypton, xenon and mercury plasmas.

TL;DR: In this paper, the conversion of orthanilic acid to sulphanilic acid has been studied in the presence of radio-labeled sulphuric acid-S35 and the rearrangement involved is irreversible and is shown to proceed in conc H2SO4 by an intermolecular mechanism.
