TL;DR: It is demonstrated that high excitation irradiance can alleviate concentration quenching in upconversion luminescence when combined with higher activator concentration, which can be increased from 0.5 mol% to 8 mol% Tm(3+) in NaYF₄.
Abstract: Bright luminescence from upconversion nanocrystals can be achieved by combining high-excitation irradiance with a high activator concentration. The enhanced brightness allows a single nanocrystal to be tracked, which can be used in bioimaging applications, for example.

TL;DR: A minimum list of essential items, which authors should consider when reporting the results of a RCT in any journal or conference abstract, is developed to improve reporting of abstracts of RCTs published in journal articles and conference proceedings.
Abstract: Background Clear, transparent, and sufficiently detailed abstracts of conferences and journal articles related to randomized controlled trials (RCTs) are important, because readers often base their assessment of a trial solely on information in the abstract Here, we extend the CONSORT (Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials) Statement to develop a minimum list of essential items, which authors should consider when reporting the results of a RCT in any journal or conference abstract

TL;DR: Advances in experimental and computational approaches are revealing not just cancer pathways controlled by single miRNAAs but also intermeshed regulatory networks controlled by multiple miRNAs, which often engage in reciprocal feedback interactions with the targets that they regulate.
Abstract: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) participate in most aspects of cellular differentiation and homeostasis, and consequently have roles in many pathologies, including cancer These small non-coding RNAs exert their effects in the context of complex regulatory networks, often made all the more extensive by the inclusion of transcription factors as their direct targets In recent years, the increased availability of gene expression data and the development of methodologies that profile miRNA targets en masse have fuelled our understanding of miRNA functions, and of the sources and consequences of miRNA dysregulation Advances in experimental and computational approaches are revealing not just cancer pathways controlled by single miRNAs but also intermeshed regulatory networks controlled by multiple miRNAs, which often engage in reciprocal feedback interactions with the targets that they regulate
