Managing innovation through customer coproduced knowledge in electronic services: An exploratory study

Abstract: Marketing theory and practice both recognize the increasing importance of customer collaboration for service provision and innovation. As part of such customer collaboration, customers of electronic services coproduce knowledge in varying degrees. An evolving phenomenon, knowledge coproduction has yet to receive much research attention; we therefore conduct a qualitative study of the roles customers play in knowledge coproduction and their resultant influence on different innovation tasks from a service provider view. Data from three electronic service interaction channels, involving managers, engineers, and customers; case study findings; and an extensive literature review indicate the importance of knowledge coproduction by customers and its ability to improve different tasks substantially during innovation activities. The results show three different roles of customers in knowledge coproduction and explain comprehensively how each role impacts various innovation tasks.

Increased neopterin and interferon-gamma secretion and lower availability of L-tryptophan in major depression: further evidence for an immune response.

Abstract: There is now some evidence that major depression may be accompanied by an immune response. The latter condition is suggested by elevated secretion of neopterin and interferon-γ (IFNγ) and by lower L -tryptophan ( L -TRP) plasma levels. This study investigated the plasma levels of neopterin, L -TRP, and the L -TRP/competing amino acids (CAA) ratio in 30 normal control subjects and 47 depressed subjects (16 minor depressed, 13 simple major depressed, and 18 melancholic subjects), and IFNγ secretion by mitogen-stimulated peripheral blood mononuclear cells in 7 normal control subjects and 13 major depressed subjects. Plasma neopterin levels were significantly higher in depressed subjects than in normal controls; 61% of melancholic patients had increased neopterin levels (⩾ 7 nmol/1) with a specificity of 90%. Patients with major depression had significantly lower L -TRP and L -TRP/CAA values compared with normal control subjects. The amino acid values were significantly and negatively correlated with plasma neopterin levels. Major depressed subjects exhibited significantly higher IFNγ secretion than did normal control subjects. The results further support the hypothesis that major depression is accompanied by an immune response and that the lower L -TRP availability in that illness may be an epiphenomenon of immune activation.

Emotions as determinants of electric car usage intention

Abstract: In a sample of 1202 Belgians, the determining factors of the usage intention of an electric car and the differences between early and late usage intention segments are investigated. The Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) framework is extended with emotional reactions towards the electric car and car driving in general. Emotions and the attitude towards the electric car are the strongest determinants of usage intention, followed by the subjective norm. Reflective emotions towards car driving and perceived behavioural control factors also play a significant role. Differences in the relative importance of the determinants of usage intention between subgroups based on environmental concern and behaviour and social values are also studied. In general, people in segments that are more inclined to use the electric car are less driven by emotions towards the electric car and more by reflective emotions towards car driving, and take more perceived behavioural concerns into account.

Epidemiology of Traumatic Brain Injury in Europe: A Living Systematic Review.

Abstract: This systematic review provides a comprehensive, up-to-date summary of traumatic brain injury (TBI) epidemiology in Europe, describing incidence, mortality, age, and sex distribution, plus severity, mechanism of injury, and time trends. PubMed, CINAHL, EMBASE, and Web of Science were searched in January 2015 for observational, descriptive, English language studies reporting incidence, mortality, or case fatality of TBI in Europe. There were no limitations according to date, age, or TBI severity. Methodological quality was assessed using the Methodological Evaluation of Observational Research checklist. Data were presented narratively. Sixty-six studies were included in the review. Country-level data were provided in 22 studies, regional population or treatment center catchment area data were reported by 44 studies. Crude incidence rates varied widely.
