Abstract: The destruction of ascending noradreniergic pathways by bilateral microinjections of 6-hydroxydopamnine made laterally to the pedunculus cerebellaris superior completely abolished the in vitro synthesis of [(3)H]norepinephrine from L-[(3)H]tyrosine in slices and in synaptosomes of the rat cortex. However, normal [(3)H]dopamine synthesis could still be observed in both cortical preparations from animals with lesions. These results provide the first biochemical support for the existence of dopaminergic terminals independent of noradrenergic terminals in the rat cortex.

Abstract: SUMMARY
We analyzed the “signs”, i.e. the components, of 275 seizures of 190 children with benign epilepsy associated with Rolandic spikes; 36 signs were listed. Primarily generalized convulsions were rare, occurring in 18% of our series. The other seizures were partial and remained so or became secondarily generalized; the usual signs were motor though some were sensory.
In spite of an apparent diversity of seizure patterns, most reflect the preferential localization in the lower banks of the Rolandic fissure, the pre- and postcentral suprasylvian gyri. Tonic or clonic manifestations of half the face, arrest of speech, and oropharyngeal manifestations are the commonest signs. Seizures often occur in sleep; when in the waking state, consciousness is often fully or partially retained.
RESUME
Nous avons etudie les signes cliniques de 275 crises recueillies chez 190 enfants presentant une epilepsie benigne a paroxysmes rolandiques (E.P.R.); 36 signes ont ete retenus et analyses. Les crises generalisees convulsives primaires, sont rares (18% du nombre total des crises). Dans les autres cas, les crises etaient des crises partielles, restant partielles ou se generalisant secondairement. Ces crises partielles comportent surtout des signes moteurs, accessoirement des signes sensitifs.
Malgre une symptomatologie en apparence polymorphe, les crises de ľE.P.R. traduisent de facon evidente la mise en jeu preferentielle de la partie basse, immedia-tement suprasylvienne des gyri pre- et postcentraux. Les manifestations toniques et/ou cloniques ďune hemiface, une impossibilitye de parler, des manifestations oropharyngees en sont les signes les plus habituels et les plus evocateurs.
ZUSAMMENFASSUNG
Wir analysierten die Befunde d.h. die Komponenten von 275 Anfallen bei 190 Kindern mit benigner Epilepsie, die mit Spitzenpotentialen uber der Rolandischen Region einhergehen; 36 Befunde werden unterschieden. Primar generalisierte Krampfe traten selten auf, bei 18% unserer Serien. Die ubrigen Anfalle waren Partialanfalle und blieben solche oder generalisierten sekundar; sie zeigten gewohn-lich motorische, einige auch sensorische Symptome.
Trotz der Verschiedenartigkeit der Anfallsbilder zeigten die meisten einen bevor-zugten Ursprung in den unteren Abschnitten der Rolandischen Furche, dem pra-und postzentralen Gyrus. Die haufigsten Symptome sind tonische oder klonische Manifestationen einer Gesichtshalfte, Sprachverlust und oropharyngeale Manifesta-tionen. Die Anfalle ereignen sich haufig im Schlaf; treten sie im Wachzustand auf, bleibt das Bewustsein oft vollig oder teilweise erhalten.
RESUMEN
Hemos analizado los “signos”, es decir, los componentes de 275 ataques en 190 ninos con epilepsia benigna asociada a puntas rolandicas y se encontraron 36 signos. Convulsiones generalizadas fueron poco frecuentes ocurriendo en 18% de nuestros casos. El resto de los ataques fueron focales y algunos se generalizaron secundaria-mente y los componentes motores fueron mas comunes que los sensoriales.
A pesar de una aparente variedad de los ataques, la mayor parte reflejan una localization preferente por la portion inferior de la fisura de Rolando, en los segmen-tos suprasilvianos de las circunvoluciones pre y postrolandicas. Los signos mas comunes fueron episodios tonicos o clonicos de una hemicara, interruption del lenguaje y manifestaciones orofaringeas. Los ataques son frequentes durante el sueno y cuando ocurren en vigilia el estado de conciencia se mantiene total o par-cialmente.

Abstract: — The photoreduction of thiazine dyes by ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) was investigated by Rash photolysis. This reaction was found to occur according to a three-step mechanism. the first being the formation of the dye triplet state followed, in weakly acid solutions, by protonation. During the second step, the triplet state of the dye disappears through two competing processes: spontaneous deactivation and reaction with EDTA, which leads to the semireduced dye. The third step leads to the leucodye. It is shown that the overall quantum yield of photoreduction is governed by the second step and can be calculated from the ratio of the rate constants of the two elementary processes involved in this step. This ratio was measured over a wide pH range.
