TL;DR: By affinity chromatography, trypsins and chymotrypsins from mouse pancreas homogenates have been separated using soybean trypsin inhibitor immobilized on Sepharose and it was found that the adsorbent was partly degraded by the Pancreas extract, reducing its fractionating capacity.

Abstract: The first report on chemical modifications of cyclic AMP was published in 1962 by Sutherland and co-workers. Since 1970 the number of studies dealing with the biological properties of cyclic AMP has increased rapidly. Then research groups at universities, research institutes and especially in the laboratories of the pharmaceutical industry began to modify cyclic AMP and other cyclic nucleotides systematically. More than 150 derivatives of cyclic AMP have been described. What justifies such a great interest in chemical derivatives of cyclic nucleotides? The most important reason depends on the central role that cyclic AMP plays in numerous hormone induced metabloic processes. Diseases that result from disorders in cyclic AMP metabolism could probably be treated by substitution therapy with cyclic nucleotides and their derivatives. The use of the naturally occurring cyclic nucleotides, however, suffers from the potential drawback of lack of specificity, since these second messengers must be able to influence all cyclic nucleotide dependent processes. Additionally the application of exogenous cyclic AMP to isolated tissues or organs at physiological (10-8-10-6M) or even higher concentrations (10-6 -10-4M) does not produce the desired response in most instances.

Abstract: Let P and Q be epireflective full subcategories of the category Haus of Hausdorff spaces and continuous functions, and also denote the corresponding reflectors by P: Haus → P and Q: Haus → Q respectively. Denote the class of P-regular spaces, i.e., of subspaces of P-spaces, by RP. Embracing certain special cases which have been treated in the literature, we show that if P ⊂ Q ⊂ RP then for X, Y ϵ RP the relation P(X × Y) = PX × PY implies Q(X × Y) = QX × QY. Applications to particular classes P,Q are given.

Die beiden Thesen werde ich immanent, d. h. mit Argumenten der herrschenden Theorie, begrunden.
