TL;DR: This article showed that γ-hydroxybutyrate (γ-OH) produces a selective accumulation of brain DA not only in normal animals but also in reserpinized animals.
Abstract: — γ-Hydroxybutyrate (γ-OH) produces a selective accumulation of brain DA not only in normal animals but also in reserpinized animals. This is especially evident after the administration of DOPA; while in parallel experiments γ-OH does not influence significantly the amount of 5-HT present in brain after 5-HTP treatment. γ-OH does not raise DA in rats after inhibition of tyrosine hydroxylase. The accumulation of brain DA is not due to inhibition of MAO or COMT activity.

TL;DR: All butyric acid derivatives endowed with depressant action on the CNS, and only those endowed with such action, were capable of increasing selectively brain DA, and 1,4-BD, like -OH, does not inhibit MAO either in vivo or in vitro.

TL;DR: Anopheles atroparvus and Anopheles labranchiae are two sibling species belonging to the maculipennis group of European anopheline mosquitoes and may be considered the most closely related species of the group; their gene pools are probably the most similar.
Abstract: Anopheles atroparvus and Anopheles labranchiae are two sibling species belonging to the maculipennis group of European anopheline mosquitoes. They may be considered the most closely related species of the group; their gene pools are probably the most similar. By the definition of Lorkovic they could be termed “semispecies”, showing some of the characteristics of the species and some of subspecies1. Individuals of A. atroparvus and A. labranchiae are not clearly distinguishable by cytogenetic analysis of the banding pattern of the salivary chromosomes. They can be distinguished on the basis of slight differences in the micromorphology of the eggs, and also on the basis of hybridization data: the interspecific hybrid males are sterile, but introgressive hybridization is possible, for the females can be backcrossed to A. atroparvus and A. labranchiae males, and again produce normal females and several normal males.

Abstract: SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS We described a sibship suffering from tuberous sclerosis, in which 4 children showed West's syndrome. The importance of our observations lies in the following facts: 1 They corroborated the opinion of Gastaut et al. that tuberous sclerosis is a factor of great importance in the aetiology of infantile myoclonic epilepsy with hypsarrhythmia (IMEH). 2 They revealed a familial form of IMEH which heralded tuberous sclerosis; familial observations on West's syndrome are still rare and in terms of tuberous sclerosis our family represents the second published study of the literature. 3 It is rather difficult to determine the relations between West's syndrome and mental retardation; our findings warrant the conclusion that there is no strict parallelism between IMEH and mental defectiveness.

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that there can occur in nucleon scattering cross sections a type of narrow resonance not due to bound states, which is caused by a 1 2 π potential scattering phase shift in an inelastic channel.

TL;DR: The thermoluminescence activation energy for glow peaks of NaCl crystals was determined by the initial rise method as discussed by the authors, and an effect of the heating speed on the low temperature peak was discussed.

TL;DR: The Morris syndrome of testicular feminization is described in two brothers and Cytogenetic findings show in both subjects a 46, XY karyotype in most examined metaphases and a 45,XY karyotypes in a smaller percentage.
Abstract: The Morris syndrome of testicular feminization is described in two brothers. Cytogenetic findings show in both subjects a 46,XY karyotype in most examined metaphases and a 45,XY karyotype (due to a consistent loss of a small acrocentric) in a smaller percentage (respectively 18.7% and 28.5%). The meaning of these findings is discussed.
