TL;DR: In this article, the authors extended the BaSeL standard stellar library to non-solar metallicities, down to [Fe/H] ~ -2.0 dex, which is consistent simultaneously with both colour-temperature relations and colour-absolute magnitude diagrams.
Abstract: We extend the colour calibration of the widely used BaSeL standard stellar library (Lejeune, Cuisinier, & Buser 1997, 1998) to non-solar metallicities, down to [Fe/H] ~ -2.0 dex. Surprisingly, we find that at the present epoch it is virtually impossible to establish a unique calibration of UBVRIJHKL colours in terms of stellar metallicity [Fe/H] which is consistent simultaneously with both colour-temperature relations and colour-absolute magnitude diagrams (CMDs) based on observed globular cluster photometry data and on published, currently popular standard stellar evolutionary tracks and isochrones. The problem appears to be related to the long-standing incompleteness in our understanding of convection in late-type stellar evolution, but is also due to a serious lack of relevant observational calibration data that would help resolve, or at least further significant progress towards resolving this issue. In view of the most important applications of the BaSeL library, we here propose two different metallicity calibration versions: (1) the "WLBC 99" library, which consistently matches empirical colour-temperature relations and which, therefore, should make an ideal tool for the study of individual stars; and (2), the "PADOVA 2000" library, which provides isochrones from the Padova 2000 grid (Girardi et al., 2000) that successfully reproduce Galactic globular-cluster colour-absolute magnitude diagrams and which thus should prove particularly useful for studies of collective phenomena in stellar populations in clusters and galaxies.

TL;DR: The results suggest that the use of AChE as a specific biomarker for organophosphate and carbamate pesticides should be quested for.
Abstract: Recently there has been evidence that contaminants other than organophosphate and carbamate pesticides may inhibit the activity of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase (AChE) both under in vitro and in vivo conditions. In this study we investigated the in vitro effect of three detergents \[dodecyl benzyl sulphonate (DBS), sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) and a mixture commonly used as domestic detergent (X)] and three metals \[molybdenum, barium and chromium (VI)] on AChE activity of Mytilus galloprovincialis haemolymph. All the detergents tested significantly inhibited the activity of the enzyme. The lowest observed effect concentrations were equal to 12 5 for DBS and 50 mg l-1 for SDS and X. Among the metals, molybdenum and barium had no effect on AChE activity, whereas chromium (VI) significantly depressed the activity of the enzyme at concentrations equal to or higher than 25 mg l-1. These results suggest that the use of AChE as a specific biomarker for organophosphate and carbamate pesticides should be quest...

TL;DR: This survey gives an overview of image acquisition methods used in computer vision and especially, of the vast number of camera models that have been proposed and investigated over the years, where it tries to point out similarities between different models.
Abstract: This survey is mainly motivated by the increased availability and use of panoramic image acquisition devices, in computer vision and various of its applications. Different technologies and different computational models thereof exist and algorithms and theoretical studies for geometric computer vision ("structure-from-motion") are often re-developed without highlighting common underlying principles. One of the goals of this survey is to give an overview of image acquisition methods used in computer vision and especially, of the vast number of camera models that have been proposed and investigated over the years, where we try to point out similarities between different models. Results on epipolar and multi-view geometry for different camera models are reviewed as well as various calibration and self-calibration approaches, with an emphasis on non-perspective cameras. We finally describe what we consider are fundamental building blocks for geometric computer vision or structure-from-motion: epipolar geometry, pose and motion estimation, 3D scene modeling, and bundle adjustment. The main goal here is to highlight the main principles of these, which are independent of specific camera models.

TL;DR: An exclusion limit on the H→invisible branching ratio of 0.26(0.17_{-0.05}^{+0.07}) at 95% confidence level is observed (expected) in combination with the results at sqrt[s]=7 and 8 TeV.
Abstract: Dark matter particles, if sufficiently light, may be produced in decays of the Higgs boson. This Letter presents a statistical combination of searches for H→invisible decays where H is produced according to the standard model via vector boson fusion, Z(ll)H, and W/Z(had)H, all performed with the ATLAS detector using 36.1 fb^{-1} of pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13 TeV at the LHC. In combination with the results at sqrt[s]=7 and 8 TeV, an exclusion limit on the H→invisible branching ratio of 0.26(0.17_{-0.05}^{+0.07}) at 95% confidence level is observed (expected).
