Abstract: X-ray analysis of bis(p-fluorophenyl)methyl cation bearing a 2,6-bis(p-tolyloxymethyl)benzene ligand showed a symmetrical structure (10-C-5) where the two C−O distances are identical, although the distance (2.690(4) A) is longer than those (2.43(1) and 2.45(1) A) of 1,8-dimethoxy-9-dimethoxymethylanthracene monocation, which was recently reported by us. However, X-ray analysis of the more stable aromatic xanthylium cation with the same benzene ligand showed the tetracoordinate carbon structure where only one of the two oxygen ligands is coordinated with the central carbon atom. These results clearly indicate that the carbocations (10-C-5) bearing the sterically flexible benzene ligand were quite sensitive to the electronic effect on the central carbon atom. Abstract: Mobile crowdsensing, which collects environmental information from mobile phone users, is growing in popularity. These data can be used by companies for marketing surveys or decision making. However, collecting sensing data from other users may violate their privacy. Moreover, the data aggregator and/or the participants of crowdsensing may be untrusted entities. Recent studies have proposed randomized response schemes for anonymized data collection. This kind of data collection can analyze the sensing data of users statistically without precise information about other users' sensing results. However, traditional randomized response schemes and their extensions require a large number of samples to achieve proper estimation. In this paper, we propose a new anonymized data-collection scheme that can estimate data distributions more accurately. Using simulations with synthetic and real datasets, we prove that our proposed method can reduce the mean squared error and the JS divergence by more than 85% as compared with other existing studies.

Abstract: Body Area Network (BAN) is considered as a promising technology in supporting medical and healthcare services by combining with various biological sensors. In this paper, we look at wearable BAN, which provides communication links among sensors on body surface. In order to design a BAN that manages biological information with high efficiency and high reliability, the propagation characteristics of BAN must be thoroughly investigated. As a preliminary effort, we measured the propagation characteristics of BAN at frequency bands of 400MHz, 600MHz, 900MHz and 2400MHz respectively. Channel models for wearable BAN based on the measurement were derived. Our results show that the channel model can be described by using a path loss model for all frequency bands investigated.

Abstract: The dynamic behavior and kinetics of the structural transformation of supported bimetallic nanoparticle catalysts with synergistic functions in the oxidation process are fundamental issues to understand their unique catalytic properties as well as to regulate the catalytic capability of alloy nanoparticles. The phase separation and structural transformation of Pt3Sn/C and PtSn/C catalysts during the oxidation process were characterized by in situ time-resolved energy-dispersive XAFS (DXAFS) and quick XAFS (QXAFS) techniques, which are element-selective spectroscopies, at the Pt LIII-edge and the Sn K-edge. The time-resolved XAFS techniques provided the kinetics of the change in structures and oxidation states of the bimetallic nanoparticles on carbon surfaces. The kinetic parameters and mechanisms for the oxidation of the Pt3Sn/C and PtSn/C catalysts were determined by time-resolved XAFS techniques. The oxidation of Pt to PtO in Pt3Sn/C proceeded via two successive processes, while the oxidation of Sn to SnO2 in Pt3Sn/C proceeded as a one step process. The rate constant for the fast Pt oxidation, which was completed in 3 s at 573 K, was the same as that for the Sn oxidation, and the following slow Pt oxidation rate was one fifth of that for the first Pt oxidation process. The rate constant and activation energy for the Sn oxidation in PtSn/C were similar to those for the Sn oxidation in Pt3Sn/C. In the PtSn/C, however, it was hard for Pt oxidation to PtO to proceed at 573 K, where Pt oxidation was strongly affected by the quantity of Sn in the alloy nanoparticles due to swift segregation of SnO2 nanoparticles/layers on the Pt nanoparticles. The mechanisms for the phase separation and structure transformation in the Pt3Sn/C and PtSn/C catalysts are also discussed on the basis of the structural kinetics of the catalysts themselves determined by the in situ time-resolved DXAFS and QXAFS.
