TL;DR: A method for measuring semantic similarity between words as a new tool for text analysis on a semantic network constructed systematically from a subset of the English dictionary, LDOCE (Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English).
Abstract: This paper proposes a method for measuring semantic similarity between words as a new tool for text analysis. The similarity is measured on a semantic network constructed systematically from a subset of the English dictionary, LDOCE (Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English). Spreading activation on the network can directly compute the similarity between any two words in the Longman Defining Vocabulary, and indirectly the similarity of all the other words in LDOCE. The similarity represents the strength of lexical cohesion or semantic relation, and also provides valuable information about similarity and coherence of texts.

TL;DR: In this paper, the magnetic properties of carbon nanotubes are investigated in the presence of disorder and a magnetic field parallel or perpendicular to the nanotube axis. And the effect of disorder on this magnetic-field-related mechanism is considered with a discussion of mean free paths, localization lengths, and magnetic dephasing rate in the context of recent experiments.
Abstract: The electronic properties of carbon nanotubes are investigated in the presence of disorder and a magnetic field parallel or perpendicular to the nanotube axis. In the parallel field geometry, the ${\ensuremath{\varphi}}_{0}$-periodic $({\ensuremath{\varphi}}_{0}=hc/e)$ metal-insulator transition induced in metallic or semiconducting nanotubes is shown to be related to a chirality-dependent shifting of the energy of the van Hove singularities (VHS's). The effect of disorder on this magnetic-field-related mechanism is considered with a discussion of mean free paths, localization lengths, and magnetic dephasing rate in the context of recent experiments.

TL;DR: In this article, the second and third-order correlation corrections to the CHF polarizability and dipole moment of the water molecule were calculated by the finite-field RSMP and single + double excitation CI (SDCI) methods for the same basis set.
Abstract: Ordinary Rayleigh-Schrodinger perturbation theory with Moller-Plesset (RSMP) partitioning is used to calculate second- and third-order correlation corrections to the CHF polarizability and dipole moment of the water molecule by a finite-field procedure. [2/1] Pade approximants are found to be useful in accelerating the convergence of the property perturbation expansions. Field-induced polarization functions suitable for polarizability calculations are determined. The average polarizability calculated, neglecting vibrational averaging, with Dunning's (9s5p/4s-4s2p/2s) contracted GTO basis set augmented by field-induced 1s1p2d/1p polarization functions is within 3 per cent of the experimental result. Correlation corrections to the dipole moment and polarizability of the water molecule calculated by the finite-field RSMP and single + double excitation CI(SDCI) methods for the same basis set are found to be in close agreement. The RSMP approach has the advantages of being size-consistent and of being capable ...

TL;DR: The Large-scale Cryogenic Gravitational wave Telescope (LCGT) project as mentioned in this paper was proposed to improve the sensitivity of the existing gravitational wave projects by ten times by using a higher power laser.
Abstract: We present here the Large-scale Cryogenic Gravitational wave Telescope (LCGT) project which is aimed to improve the sensitivity of the existing gravitational wave projects by ten times. LCGT is the project constructing the km-scale gravitational wave detector in Japan succeeding the TAMA project, which adopts cryogenic mirrors with a higher power laser. We are planing to build it in an underground site in Kamioka mine. If its target sensitivity is attained, we will be able to catch a few events per month.

TL;DR: A proactive algorithm based on long short-term memory and deep reinforcement learning techniques to address the partial observability and the curse of high dimensionality in local network state space faced by each VUE-pair is proposed.
Abstract: In this paper, we investigate the problem of age of information (AoI)-aware radio resource management for expected long-term performance optimization in a Manhattan grid vehicle-to-vehicle network. With the observation of global network state at each scheduling slot, the roadside unit (RSU) allocates the frequency bands and schedules packet transmissions for all vehicle user equipment-pairs (VUE-pairs). We model the stochastic decision-making procedure as a discrete-time single-agent Markov decision process (MDP). The technical challenges in solving the optimal control policy originate from high spatial mobility and temporally varying traffic information arrivals of the VUE-pairs. To make the problem solving tractable, we first decompose the original MDP into a series of per-VUE-pair MDPs. Then we propose a proactive algorithm based on long short-term memory and deep reinforcement learning techniques to address the partial observability and the curse of high dimensionality in local network state space faced by each VUE-pair. With the proposed algorithm, the RSU makes the optimal frequency band allocation and packet scheduling decision at each scheduling slot in a decentralized way in accordance with the partial observations of the global network state at the VUE-pairs. Numerical experiments validate the theoretical analysis and demonstrate the significant performance improvements from the proposed algorithm.
