TL;DR: It is proved that the final prediction performance drop after pruning is bounded by a linear combination of the reconstructed errors caused at each layer, so there is a guarantee that one only needs to perform a light retraining process on the pruned network to resume its original prediction performance.
Abstract: How to develop slim and accurate deep neural networks has become crucial for real- world applications, especially for those employed in embedded systems. Though previous work along this research line has shown some promising results, most existing methods either fail to significantly compress a well-trained deep network or require a heavy retraining process for the pruned deep network to re-boost its prediction performance. In this paper, we propose a new layer-wise pruning method for deep neural networks. In our proposed method, parameters of each individual layer are pruned independently based on second order derivatives of a layer-wise error function with respect to the corresponding parameters. We prove that the final prediction performance drop after pruning is bounded by a linear combination of the reconstructed errors caused at each layer. By controlling layer-wise errors properly, one only needs to perform a light retraining process on the pruned network to resume its original prediction performance. We conduct extensive experiments on benchmark datasets to demonstrate the effectiveness of our pruning method compared with several state-of-the-art baseline methods. TL;DR: It is necessary to adjust the routine diagnosis and treatment protocol of acute myocardial infarction to face the serious public health event.
Abstract: Dear Editor, Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a cardiovascular emergency and requires an emergency diagnosis and treatment process. Unfortunately, the highly contagious COVID-19 pneumonia is obviously affecting the diagnosis and treatment of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) which includes ST-elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI) and non-ST-segment elevation acute myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). There are increasing confirmed cases around multiple countries every day. The transmission dynamics is not fully understood [1]. It is necessary to adjust the routine diagnosis and treatment protocol of AMI to face the serious public health event.

TL;DR: A comprehensive review of anisotropic MTe2 and ReX2, focusing on their recent progresses and various applications in recent years, and the crystalline structure and the origin of the strong anisotropy characterized by various techniques are discussed.
Abstract: With the continuous exploration of 2D transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), novel high-performance devices based on the remarkable electronic and optoelectronic natures of 2D TMDs are increasingly emerging. As fresh blood of 2D TMD family, anisotropic MTe2 and ReX2 (M = Mo, W, and X = S, Se) have drawn increasing attention owing to their low-symmetry structures and charming properties of mechanics, electronics, and optoelectronics, which are suitable for the applications of field-effect transistors (FETs), photodetectors, thermoelectric and piezoelectric applications, especially catering to anisotropic devices. Herein, a comprehensive review is introduced, concentrating on their recent progresses and various applications in recent years. First, the crystalline structure and the origin of the strong anisotropy characterized by various techniques are discussed. Specifically, the preparation of these 2D materials is presented and various growth methods are summarized. Then, high-performance applications of these anisotropic TMDs, including FETs, photodetectors, and thermoelectric and piezoelectric applications are discussed. Finally, the conclusion and outlook of these applications are proposed.

TL;DR: In this article, a new method has been presented to track the global maximum power point (GMPP) of PV arrays under partial shading conditions, which has the advantages of determining whether partial shading is present, calculating the number of peaks on P-V curves, and predicting the locations of GMPP and LMPP.
Abstract: Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is an integral part of a system of energy conversion using photovoltaic (PV) arrays. The power-voltage characteristic of PV arrays operating under partial shading conditions exhibits multiple local maximum power points (LMPPs). In this paper, a new method has been presented to track the global maximum power point (GMPP) of PV. Compared with the past proposed global MPPT techniques, the method proposed in this paper has the advantages of determining whether partial shading is present, calculating the number of peaks on P – V curves, and predicting the locations of GMPP and LMPP. The new method can quickly find GMPP, and avoid much energy loss due to blind scan. The experimental results verify that the proposed method guarantees convergence to the global MPP under partial shading conditions.

TL;DR: A mechanistic insight is presented into the halogen-involved catalytic reaction mechanism in solar fuel production by optimizing the coordination modes of surface-bound intermediate species and reducing the reaction energy of rate-limiting step of COOH- intermediate formation from CO2-.
Abstract: All-inorganic Pb-free bismuth (Bi) halogen perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) with distinct structural and photoelectric properties provide plenty of room for selective photoreduction of CO2. However, ...
