TL;DR: An increased error rate is found compared to two-dimensional systems, hence an advantage for the legitimate users to detect an eavesdropper, and an experimental realization using an interferometric setup is proposed.
Abstract: Like all of quantum information theory, quantum cryptography is traditionally based on two-level quantum systems. In this paper, a protocol for quantum key distribution based on higher-dimensional systems is presented. An experimental realization using an interferometric setup is also proposed. Analyzing this protocol from the practical side, one finds an increased key creation rate while keeping the initial laser pulse rate constant. Analyzing it for the case of intercept/resend eavesdropping strategy, an increased error rate is found compared to two-dimensional systems, hence an advantage for the legitimate users to detect an eavesdropper.

TL;DR: Correlation of the molecular map with the genetic map of the I region confines two of the five I subregions, I–J and I–B, to less than 3.4 kb of DNA at the 3′ end of the Eβ gene where a hotspot for recombination has been observed.
Abstract: A stretch of 200 kilobases (kb) of DNA from the I region of the mouse major histocompatibility complex has been cloned and characterized. It contains the genes for the biochemically defined class II proteins Eα, Eβ and Aβ. DNA blot analyses suggest that the I region may contain only 6–8 class II genes. Correlation of our molecular map with the genetic map of the I region confines two of the five I subregions, I–J and I–B, to less than 3.4 kb of DNA at the 3′ end of the Eβ gene where a hotspot for recombination has been observed. Indeed, the I–A and I–E subregions may be contiguous. If so, the I–B and I–J subregions are not encoded in the I region between the I–A and I–E subregions.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss mechanisms of epigenetic regulation that should be considered when undertaking the latter, since these mechanisms are responsible for the formation of heritable epigenetic gene variants (epialleles) and also regulate transposons mobility.

TL;DR: This work reviews how complex training environments such as action video game play may actually foster brain plasticity and learning.
Abstract: The ability of the human brain to learn is exceptional. Yet, learning is typically quite specific to the exact task used during training, a limiting factor for practical applications such as rehabilitation, workforce training, or education. The possibility of identifying training regimens that have a broad enough impact to transfer to a variety of tasks is thus highly appealing. This work reviews how complex training environments such as action video game play may actually foster brain plasticity and learning. This enhanced learning capacity, termed learning to learn, is considered in light of its computational requirements and putative neural mechanisms.
