TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of thermal annealing on charge transport and photogeneration in bulk-heterojunction solar cells made from blend films of regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and methanofullerene (PCBM) has been studied.
Abstract: The effect of controlled thermal annealing on charge transport and photogeneration in bulk-heterojunction solar cells made from blend films of regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and methanofullerene (PCBM) has been studied. With respect to the charge transport, it is demonstrated that the electron mobility dominates the transport of the cell, varying from 10 –8 m 2 V –1 s –1 in as-cast devices to ≈ 3× 10 –7 m 2 V –1 s –1 after thermal annealing. The hole mobility in the P3HT phase of the blend is dramatically affected by thermal annealing. It increases by more than three orders of magnitude, to reach a value of up to ≈ 2× 10 –8 m 2 V –1 s –1 after the annealing process, as a result of an improved crystallinity of the film. Moreover, upon annealing the absorption spectrum of P3HT:PCBM blends undergo a strong red-shift, improving the spectral overlap with solar emission, which results in an increase of more than 60 % in the rate of charge-carrier generation. Subsequently, the experimental electron and hole mobilities are used to study the photocurrent generation in P3HT:PCBM devices as a function of annealing temperature. The results indicate that the most important factor leading to a strong enhancement of the efficiency, compared with non-annealed devices, is the increase of the hole mobility in the P3HT phase of the blend. Furthermore, numerical simulations indicate that under short-circuit conditions the dissociation efficiency of bound electron–hole pairs at the donor/acceptor interface is close to 90 %, which explains the large quantum efficiencies measured in P3HT:PCBM blends.

TL;DR: Estimates of ADHD prevalence and correlates in the World Health Organization World Mental Health Survey Initiative should be considered more seriously in future epidemiological and clinical studies than is currently the case.
Abstract: Background Little is known about the epidemiology of adult attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Aims To estimate the prevalence and correlates of DSM-IV adult ADHD in the World Health Organization World Mental Health Survey Initiative. Method An ADHD screen was administered to respondents aged 18-44 years in ten countries in the Americas, Europe and the Middle East (n=11422). Masked clinical reappraisal interviews were administered to 154 US respondents to calibrate the screen. Multiple imputation was used to estimate prevalence and correlates based on the assumption of cross-national calibration comparability. Results Estimates of ADHD prevalence averaged 3.4% (range 1.2-7.3%), with lower prevalence in lower-income countries (1.9%) compared with higher-income countries (4.2%). Adult ADHD often co-occurs with other DSM-IV disorders and is associated with considerable role disability. Few cases are treated for ADHD, but in many cases treatment is given for comorbid disorders. Conclusions Adult ADHD should be considered more seriously in future epidemiological and clinical studies than is currently the case.

TL;DR: In this article, a self-contained exposition is given of an approach to mathematical models, in particular to the theory of dynamical systems, which leads to a new view of the notions of controllability and observability, and of the interconnection of systems.
Abstract: A self-contained exposition is given of an approach to mathematical models, in particular, to the theory of dynamical systems. The basic ingredients form a triptych, with the behavior of a system in the center, and behavioral equations with latent variables as side panels. The author discusses a variety of representation and parametrization problems, in particular, questions related to input/output and state models. The proposed concept of a dynamical system leads to a new view of the notions of controllability and observability, and of the interconnection of systems, in particular, to what constitutes a feedback control law. The final issue addressed is that of system identification. It is argued that exact system identification leads to the question of computing the most powerful unfalsified model. >
