TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of methanol, ethanol and propanol-2 on the quantum yields of cysteine, ammonia, AODT-DPA and alanine was investigated.
Abstract: — Quantum yields of cysteine, ammonia, 1-amino,1′-oxo,2,2′-dithiodipropionicacid (AODT–DPA), alanine, alanine 3-sulphinic acid, cysteic acid, and serine have been determined in aqueous oxygenated and deaerated cystine solutions irradiated with 254 nm radiation. From the effect of methanol, ethanol and propanol-2 on the quantum yields of cysteine, ammonia, AODT-DPA and alanine, it is concluded that (a) the S–S bond is broken with high quantum efficiency, (b) C–S and C–N bonds do not undergo primary photolytic fission, and (c) all the AODT–DPA, but only about 12 per cent of the ammonia, is free-radical in origin. The production of pyruvic acid at the expense of AODT–DPA in irradiated cystine solutions containing alanine provides further evidence that AODT–DPA has free-radical precursors. Reaction schemes are proposed for the radical-induced production of keto acid and ammonia in oxygenated and deaerated solutions.

TL;DR: The Mehrabian scale was found to differentiate between students in terms of their self-images, their intellectual achievement responsibility, and their occupational aspirations in four separate validation studies.
Abstract: Summary A sample of 520 student teachers (344 females and 176 males) in eight colleges of education, completed an anglicised version of the Mehrabian need for achievement scale, a questionnaire measure in parallel male and female forms, together with other personality and attitudinal schedules In four separate validation studies the Mehrabian scale was found to differentiate between students in terms of their self-images, their intellectual achievement responsibility, and their occupational aspirations The Mehrabian scale is an objectively-scorable, easily-administered measure of n'ach against which performance criteria can be established Its use in future studies of student motivation is recommended

TL;DR: In this article, colonial rule and political culture in modern Ashanti are discussed. But the authors focus on the Ashanti region and do not address the issues of racism and sexism in Ashanti.

TL;DR: In this article, the effectiveness of below-the-line promotion by examining date from two different periods: up to 1969, when little was written on this subject; and 1969− March 1972 when literature had increased dramatically in this area.
Abstract: Looks at the effectiveness of below‐the‐line promotion by examining date from two different periods: up to 1969, when little was written on this subject; and 1969‐ March 1972 when literature had increased dramatically in this area. Suggests that further work needs to be carried out in this area in order to determine the long‐term effects of such promotions on purchasing behaviour.

TL;DR: In this article, the dyeing of Dacron 84-wool blends is described, and the effect of processing on the properties of the cloth is mentioned, and costs of different dyeing processes are compared.
Abstract: Dacron 84, a modified basic-dyeable polyester fibre, can be dyed satisfactorily only with a limited range of basic and disperse dyes. A dye-screening procedure is described, and a dye selection is given. Various carriers have been assessed. The costs of different dyeing processes are compared. The dyeing of Dacron 84-wool blends is described, and the effect of processing on the properties of the cloth is mentioned.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a production planning and control system for a manufacturing company that will ensure that work flow, inventories and changing levels of production are managed in a manner that will be reflected in, and improve, the overall manufacturing performance.
Abstract: For maximum effectiveness there is a need, within any manufacturing company, to provide a system which will ensure that work flow, inventories and changing levels of production are managed in a manner that will be reflected in, and improve, the overall manufacturing performance. The procedures and policies adopted and used comprise a production planning and control system.
