TL;DR: The impact of a neonatal resuscitation programme (NRP) on the incidence, management and outcome of birth asphyxia was evaluated in 14 teaching hospitals in India.
Abstract: The impact of a neonatal resuscitation programme (NRP) on the incidence, management and outcome of birth asphyxia was evaluated in 14 teaching hospitals in India. Two faculty members from each institution attended a neonatal resuscitation certification course and afterwards trained staff in their respective hospitals. Each institution provided 3 months pre-intervention and 12 months post-intervention data. Introduction of the NRP significantly increased awareness and documentation of birth asphyxia, as judged by an increased incidence of asphyxia based on apnoea or gasping at 1 and 5 minutes (p < 0.001 and < 0.01, respectively). A significant shift towards more rational resuscitation practices was indicated by a decline in the use of chest compression and medication (p < 0.001 for each), and an increase in the use of bag and mask ventilation (p < 0.001). Although overall neonatal mortality did not decrease, asphyxia-related deaths declined significantly (p < 0.01).

TL;DR: Using the yeast-two hybrid system and coprecipitation of recombinant proteins, it is shown that Ypt31/32 in their guanosine triphosphate (GTP)-bound form interact directly with Myo2-GTD and this interaction is required for polarized secretion.
Abstract: Rab GTPases recruit myosin motors to endocytic compartments, which in turn are required for their motility. However, no Ypt/Rab GTPase has been shown to regulate the motility of exocytic compartmen...

TL;DR: In this article, a search for exclusive or quasi-exclusive W(+)W(-) production by photon-photon interactions, pp to p(*)W(+W(+)p(*), at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV is reported using data collected by the CMS detector with an integrated luminosity of 5.5 TeV.
Abstract: A search for exclusive or quasi-exclusive W(+)W(-) production by photon-photon interactions, pp to p(*)W(+)W(-)p(*), at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV is reported using data collected by the CMS detector with an integrated luminosity of 5.05 inverse femtobarns. Events are selected by requiring a mu(+/-)e(-/+) vertex with no additional associated charged tracks and dilepton transverse momentum pt(mu(+/-)e(-/+)) > 30 GeV. Two events passing all selection requirements are observed in the data, compared to a standard model expectation of 2.2 +/- 0.4 signal events with 0.84 +/- 0.15 background. The tail of the dilepton pt distribution is studied for deviations from the standard model. No events are observed with pt > 100 GeV. Model-independent upper limits are computed and compared to predictions involving anomalous quartic gauge couplings. The limits on the parameters a[W,(0,C)]/Lambda^2 with a dipole form factor and an energy cutoff Lambda(cutoff) = 500 GeV are of the order of 10E-4.

TL;DR: In this article, a series of contact simulations were conducted in order to investigate the effects of the surface topography, material hardness and load on the deformation behavior of the rough surfaces.
Abstract: Surface roughness plays an important role in affecting friction, wear, and lubrication of contacting bodies. A small change in the distribution of the asperity heights and widths can have a significant effect on the performance variables which include the real area of contact, the average gap, and the average asperity contact pressure. A series of contact simulations were conducted in order to investigate the effects of the surface topography, material hardness and load on the deformation behavior of the rough surfaces. These surfaces were numerically generated by computer and varied widely in statistical roughness properties, ranging from isotropic to strongly anisotropic. The current simulations took into account the elastic-plastic deformation behavior of the asperities. Using the contact simulation results, the performance variables were curve-fitted to convenient analytical formulas as functions of the surface roughness parameters, material hardness, and load.
