Abstract: It is pointed out that in a general class of gauge models, there exist new contributions to neutrinoless double $\ensuremath{\beta}$ transitions, that do not involve a Majorana neutrino but the decay of a doubly charged Higgs boson to electrons Explicit calculations for the case $^{48}\mathrm{Ca}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}$^{48}\mathrm{Ti}$ indicate that for reasonable choice of parameters, this new contribution may dominate over that involving light or heavy Majorana neutrinos

TL;DR: Methods are presented for obtaining parametric measures of information from the non-parametric ones and from information matrices and the properties of these measures are examined.
Abstract: In this paper methods are presented for obtaining parametric measures of information from the non-parametric ones and from information matrices. The properties of these measures are examined. The one-dimensional parametric measures which are derived from the non-parametric are superior to Fisher's information measure because they are free from regularity conditions. But if we impose the regularity conditions of the Fisherian theory of information, these measures become linear functions of Fisher's measure.

TL;DR: In this paper, an exact analysis of the effects of heat sources, mass transfer and free-convection currents on the flow past an impulsively started vertical plate is investigated, and closed-form solutions to the velocity and temperature field have been derived by using Laplace transform and expressions are given for the Skin-friction and the rate of heat transfer.
Abstract: An exact analysis of the effects of heat sources, mass transfer and free-convection currents on the flow past an impulsively started vertical plate is investigated. Closed-form solutions to the velocity and temperature field have been derived by using Laplace transform and expressions are given for the Skin-friction and the rate of heat transfer. Variations of the above quantities are presented graphically, and the paper is concluded with a quantitative discussion.

TL;DR: In this paper, the average multiplicity decreases quite rapidly with b, but there is a quite wide spread of multiplicities for a given b, indicating that the multiplicity can only determine the impact parameter with rather poor resolution.

TL;DR: The results support the postulate that the catabolism of lysosomal glycogen is controlled by those agents that regulate the catabolic processes of hyaloplasmic glycogen and could be mediated through changes in the activity of the lysOSomal acid alpha 1,4-glucosidase.
Abstract: Summary Certain effects of insulin administration on newborn rat hepatocytes were studied using biochemical assays, electron microscopy and quantitative morphometry. Insulin produced an inhibition of postnatal hyaloplasmic glycogen breakdown, of lysosomal glycogen breakdown and of the development of the Golgi apparatus. The insulin-treated animals showed a low activity of the enzyme, acid α 1,4 glucosidase (maltase). The results support the postulate that the catabolism of lysosomal glycogen is controlled by those agents that regulate the catabolism of hyaloplasmic glycogen (Am. J. Path., 63: 1–17 and Am. J. Path., 63: 23–36, 1971). Control could be mediated through changes in the activity of the lysosomal acid α 1,4 glucosidase.

TL;DR: In this paper, the synthesis of the phosphono-analogue of sphingomyelin was described, which was obtained by phosphonylation of N -acyl-3- O -benzoyl-D-erythro-sphingosine with (2-bromoethyl)phosphonic acid chloride and triethylamine, subsequent quaternisation with anhydrous trimethylamines and benzene at 55-60°C for four days, and finally, consecutive removal of the protective group by mild alkaline hydrolysis.

TL;DR: An analysis of the mass transfer in a unsteady two-dimensional flow past an accelerated infinite vertical plate has been carried out under the following conditions: (1) the heat-transfer is varied at the plate (2) the non-dimensional timet is small and (3) Prandtl and Schmidt number is equal to one as mentioned in this paper.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors study the asymptotic behavior of the age distribution in any manpower system and present an application to a decision problem in a university system, where they consider the discrepancy between the age or length of service distribution of the population and the average age distribution which would be reached if present policies were continued indefinitely.
Abstract: The literature on supply models for manpower planning shows that an important consideration is the size of the discrepancy between the age or length of service distribution of the population and the age distribution which would be reached if present policies were continued indefinitely. In the present paper we study the asymptotic behaviour of the age distribution in any manpower system. An application to a decision problem in a university system is given.

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the problem of weakly compact subsets of the positive cone of a locally convex lattice is not always equicontinuous.
Abstract: Let X be a completely regular space and let E be a locally convex space. Denote by Crc(X, E) the space of all continuous E-valued functions on X with relatively compact range. The dual space of Crc(X, E) under the uniform topology is a space M(B, E') of U-valued measures (see [5]). In case E is a locally convex lattice, M(B, E') becomes a lattice. In [3] the author defined the topologies fl and fl, on C,c(X, E). The corresponding dual spaces are the spaces M~(B, E') and M~(B, E') of all z-additive and all a-additive members of M(B, E') respectively. In this paper we look into the problem of the [3(fl 0 equicontinuity of weakly compact subsets of the positive cone of M~(B, E') (M,,(B, E')) when E is a locally convex lattice. In the scalar case it is known that each such set is fl(flO equicontinuous (see [12]). It is shown here that this is not always true in the vector-valued case. More specifically it is shown that, for a completely regular space X, the following assertions are equivalent: (1) X is compact (pseudocompact). (2) For each Banach lattice E, fl(fll) is the topology of uniform convergence on the weakly compact subsets of the positive cone of Me(B, E') (M~(B, E')). In case E is finite dimensional, it is shown that (C~(X, E), ill) is a strong Mackey space and that (Crc(X, E), fl) is a strong Mackey space iff (Cb(X), fl) is a strong Mackey space [Cb(X) is the space of all bounded continuous real functions on X]. Finally it is proved that, for E a Banach space and ), = fl or//1 the space (C,c(X, E), 7) is a strong Mackey space iff it is Mackey.

Abstract: An exact analysis of free convection flow of an electrically conducting incompressible and viscous fluid past a vertical infinite porous plate under the action of a transverse magnetic field in a rotating fluid is presented. The plate and the fluid are assumed to rotate in a solid body rotation in a steady state. Exact solutions for the velocity and temperature field have been derived. The effects ofM (Hartmann number) on the flow characteristics are discussed.
