TL;DR: In this article, the normalized differential cross section for top quark pair (tt) production is measured in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8TeV at the CERN LHC using the CMS detector in data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7fb^(−1).
Abstract: The normalized differential cross section for top quark pair (tt) production is measured in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8TeV at the CERN LHC using the CMS detector in data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7fb^(−1). The measurements are performed in the lepton+jets (e/μ +jets) and in the dilepton (e^+e^−, μ^+μ^−, and e^±μ^∓) decay channels. The tt cross section is measured as a function of the kinematic properties of the charged leptons, the jets associated to b quarks, the top quarks, and the tt system. The data are compared with several predictions from perturbative quantum chromodynamic up to approximate next-to-next-to-leading-order precision. No significant deviations are observed relative to the standard model predictions.

TL;DR: The addition of montelukast to inhaled budesonide is an effective and well tolerated alternative to doubling the dose of inhaled Budesonide in adult asthma patients experiencing symptoms and inadequate control on budesonid alone.
Abstract: Background: Inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) affect many inflammatory pathways in asthma but have little impact on cysteinyl leukotrienes. This may partly explain persistent airway inflammation during chronic ICS treatment and failure to achieve adequate asthma control in some patients. This double blind, randomised, parallel group, non-inferiority, multicentre 16 week study compared the clinical benefits of adding montelukast to budesonide with doubling the budesonide dose in adults with asthma.
Methods: After a 1 month single blind run in period, patients inadequately controlled on inhaled budesonide (800 µg/day) were randomised to receive montelukast 10 mg + inhaled budesonide 800 µg/day (n=448) or budesonide 1600 µg/day (n=441) for 12 weeks.
Results: Both groups showed progressive improvement in several measures of asthma control compared with baseline. Mean morning peak expiratory flow (AM PEF) improved similarly in the last 10 weeks of treatment compared with baseline in both the montelukast + budesonide group and in the double dose budesonide group (33.5 v 30.1 l/min). During days 1–3 after start of treatment, the change in AM PEF from baseline was significantly greater in the montelukast + budesonide group than in the double dose budesonide group (20.1 v 9.6 l/min, p<0.001), indicating faster onset of action in the montelukast group. Both groups showed similar improvements with respect to "as needed" s agonist use, mean daytime symptom score, nocturnal awakenings, exacerbations, asthma free days, peripheral eosinophil counts, and asthma specific quality of life. Both montelukast + budesonide and double dose budesonide were generally well tolerated.
Conclusion: The addition of montelukast to inhaled budesonide is an effective and well tolerated alternative to doubling the dose of inhaled budesonide in adult asthma patients experiencing symptoms and inadequate control on budesonide alone.

TL;DR: Recent progress in 3D printing of electrochemical energy storage devices.
Abstract: 3D printing technology, which can be used to design functional structures by combining computer-aided design and advanced manufacturing procedures, is regarded as a revolutionary and greatly attractive process for the fabrication of electrochemical energy storage devices. In comparison to traditional manufacturing methods, 3D printing possesses unique advantages in geometrical shape design as well as rapid prototyping, especially with high surface area complex 3D structure constructions. Recently, a number of 3D-printed electrochemical energy storage devices have been reported, showing an increased interest of the scientific community. To further advance material design and technology development, comprehensive understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of each 3D printing technique and knowledge of recent progress in 3D-printed electrochemical energy storage are indispensable. To that end, a literature review of recent advances of 3D printing technology for capacitive energy storage is provided herein. Emphasis is given on the design of printing materials, printing process and electrochemical performance of printed devices. Some 3D printed structural solid electrolytes for energy storage applications are also summarized. Discussion and outlook on the potential future designs and development of 3D printing for electrochemical energy storage devices are provided in the text.

TL;DR: It is indicated that the shelf-life of chicken fillets can be extended using, either oregano oil singly, and/or chitosan, by approximately 6 and >15 (M-CH and M-CH-O) days, maintaining acceptable sensory characteristics.

TL;DR: This work focuses on the patterns (geometry) of direct comparisons within each network and what those patterns might mean, and how exploration of network geometry may help with interpretation of the evidence on multiple competing treatments for the same indication.
Abstract: When assessing the evidence on which of several treatment options is the most effective, it is important to know which ones have been compared with other options and which have been compared with p...
