TL;DR: In this paper, two "oil shale" samples from the Uppermost Cretaceous to the Paleocene were investigated and major elements, organic matter and trace elements, together with aspects of mineralogy and petrography were determined.
Abstract: Twenty-two "oil shale" samples from north Jordan have been investigated. They are in fact all bituminous limestones, of ages ranging from Uppermost Cretaceous to Paleocene. Major elements, organic matter and trace elements, were determined, together with aspects of mineralogy and petrography. Although macrofossils are rare, trace fossils were encountered. These rocks are postulated to be normal limestones deposited in an oxygenated shallow marine environment. The H2S/O2 interface coincided or lay just below the water/sediment interface. The organic matter is indigenous and not related to migrating oil.

TL;DR: In both groups, normotension and hypertension, the ophthalmic blood pressure was found to be dependent from the level of the systemic blood pressure and the position of patient, and it is significantly higher in the supine position than in the sitting position.
Abstract: Ophthalmodynamometry was done by 96 normotensive volunteers and 62 hypertensive patients in sitting and supine position. A high correlation between the brachial and ophthalmic blood pressure was found in both groups, and in both positions. The brachial blood pressure of normotensive subjects did not show any difference in both positions. Although the systolic brachial blood pressure did not show significant changes in hypertension, the diastolic--and the calculated mean brachial blood pressure has been slightly but significantly decreased in the supine position. In both groups, normotension and hypertension, the ophthalmic blood pressure was found to be dependent from the level of the systemic blood pressure and the position of patient. It is significantly higher in the supine position than in the sitting position. The higher the systemic blood pressure in the sitting position, the less was the increase of the ophthalmic blood pressure in the supine position.

TL;DR: In this paper, two rapid methods for the decomposition and chemical analysis of clays were adapted for use with 20-40-mg size samples, typical amounts of ultrafine products (<0.5-μm diameter) obtained by modern separation methods for clay minerals.
Abstract: Two rapid methods for the decomposition and chemical analysis of clays were adapted for use with 20–40-mg size samples, typical amounts of ultrafine products (<0.5-μm diameter) obtained by modern separation methods for clay minerals. The results of these methods were compared with those of “classical” rock analyses. The two methods consisted of mixed lithium metaborate fusion and heated decomposition with HF in a closed vessel. The latter technique was modified to include subsequent evaporation with concentrated H2SO4 and re-solution in HCl, which reduced the interference of the fluoride ion in the determination of Al, Fe, Ca, Mg, Na, and K. Results from the two methods agree sufficiently well with those of the “classical” techniques to minimize error in the calculation of clay mineral structural formulae. Representative maximum variations, in atoms per unit formula of the smectite type based on 22 negative charges, are 0.09 for Si, 0.03 for Al, 0.015 for Fe, 0.07 for Mg, 0.03 for Na, and 0.01 for K.

Abstract: In a case review over a nine-year period, 35 patients were referred to the University Hospital with a variety of abdominal symptoms related to the gastrointestinal tract, were found to have diverticular disease of the colon. In a retrospective evaluation of 274 consecutive barium enemas performed at the same institute in patients aged 20 to 85 years, in a three-year period (1979 to 1981), colonic diverticula were found in 11 patients, giving incidence of 4 per cent; all positive enemas for diverticulosis in this group occurred in patients over the age of 40 years.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method has been investigated which allows calculations of the absorption correction factors in the energy range 1.0-5.0 keV using 55Fe excitation source.
Abstract: A method has been investigated which allows calculations of the absorption correction factors in the energy range 1.0–5.0 keV using 55Fe excitation source. From the experimentally-measured absorption factors between 6.0 and 20.0 keV using 109Cd excitation source, the coefficients at lower energies with the associated absorption jumps are generated through an iterative procedure.

TL;DR: It is concluded that VAP is effective therapy in AIL because the three patients who received vincristine, adriamycin and prednisolone went into remission early and are still in remission with a follow-up of 22–35 months.
Abstract: Five patients, three males and two females, with angioimmunoblastic lymphadenopathy (AIL) are described. The two who received steroids had no response and died 2 and 6 months later. The three patients who received vincristine, adriamycin and prednisolone (VAP) went into remission early and are still in remission with a follow-up of 22–35 months. It is concluded that VAP is effective therapy in AIL.

Abstract: Wave scattering from a rough perfectly conducting sphere is considered. Use is made of the reformulated current method in which the object is replaced by a current distribution radiating into an unbounded media. The scattered field components are obtained in terms of the joint characteristic function defining the roughness.

TL;DR: An accelerator-based elemental study, using proton-induced x-ray emission (PIXE), was performed on four full-cream and four half-cream brands of powdered milk commonly consumed in Jordan as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: An accelerator-based elemental study, using proton-induced x-ray emission (PIXE), was performed on four full-cream and four half-cream brands of powdered milk commonly consumed in Jordan. The elements detected in the samples are S, Cl, K, Ca, Fe, Cu, Zn, Br, and Rb. The significance of some of these elements is discussed from the viewpoint of nutrition and also their effect on milk processing and dairy technology. The standard reference milk sample, A-11, which is distributed by IAEA was also examined, and the results for trace elements detected are compared with the values certified by IAEA.

Abstract: The density fluctuations induced by4He impurities in a thin film of normal liquid3He, as well as by the presence of a boundary, are studied. Analytic expressions for the (linear) response of the system to these fluctuations are derived and the basic features of the effective interaction between two4He impurities in the3He bath are outlined. Some experimental implications and possible extensions are discussed.
